415867 tn?1323365503 t been proven safe for use during pregnancy - also, supposedly your pregnancy hormones can make your skin react differently to the tanner and turn orange! I would not risk it.
467126 tn?1283144858 since 1960 and no problems have ever been reported concerning DHA penetrating the skin, or causing problems during pregnancy. The reason the concern remains is that advances have been made in the cosmetic industry in developing ingredients that help other ingredients to penetrate the skin better. This applies not only to sunless tanners but moisturizers and other products.
688450 tn?1259468734 I wanted to know the same info when I was pregnant. I was taking Prenexa prenatals (which contains 250mg DHA) vitamins along with 2 fish oil pills daily. I read that the recommended daily amount is 300mgs, but that is conflicting as you mentioned. I think I was taking about 475mgs total daily...anyway, they say the asian culture eats tons of omega 3 fatty acids primarily from fresh fish and there has been no reportings of problems...other than very bright children : ) Which I hope I have!!
566175 tn?1278430472 I take this two step vitamin with DHA being a second step, CVS brand. No stool softener though. I think to get a stool softener you need prescription vitamins.
519661 tn?1264516208 I understand where your coming from on the depression deal. I was on medication for anxiety/panic attacks and that med was an anti depressant. I came off a couple months before my hub and I started trying and did ok. I think a lot of it (atleast for me) is where you feel like poo and the thought or smell of food makes you want to vomit and your family is sitting around eating everything like fat cats. That upset me a lot.
Avatar f tn U can do that. Most prenatal vitamins that also have dha r two separate pills anyway. I take regular omega 3 fish oil pills from vitamin shop in conjunction with my prenatals from cvs. U may want to look into dha specifically for pregnancy, but they're also way more expensive. Also check to make sure the fish oil comes from small fish like sardines or anchovy and that it doesn't contain soy. It's a lot to look into, but I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I take a prenatal vitamin with iron and also a DHA only prenatal vitamin. I'm 8w+2d and haven't been to my first obgyn appt yet, have that at 10 weeks. Don't know if this helps, just what I decided to do.
7062279 tn?1388370086 This question is regarding the drug use during the pregnancy. What is the use of DHA during the pregnancy?. Our doctor prescribed the combination of folic acid,Pyridoxine and mecobalmin combination. But the pharmacy person gave me the following combination Folic acid,DHA,Pyridoxine and Mecobalmin. I came to know these after I reached to home. I couldn't contact my doctor and we don't want stop medication also. What should I do?
Avatar n tn website and they list what vitamins are important and how much you should take of each. As long as you are meeting those guidelines, I don't see why one vitamin would be better than another...except for taste.
Avatar f tn Hopefully they make up for me not taking it during pregnancy. I normally do all three if I remember. I was super excited with this baby because I remembered to take my prenatals for about 5-6 months before I got pregnant and I was going to go buy the best prenatal then found out I needed prenatal with a stool softener.
1095404 tn?1333992839 Thank you for sharing this info. I too have heard dha is a great to take during pg. There are many benefits to taking it during pg. It is becoming increasingly popular. Thanks again, AP Ps you should post this in the fertility forum as well.
Avatar f tn m taking the prescription vitafol-ob+dha which is $55 and I was taking bellybar before and during the earlier part of pregnancy which has almost 2x the amount of vitamins but no dha for $13 is it safe to switch back? Is there something else that I am overlooking?
Avatar f tn How soon are theyy needed? Im only 5weeks and dont know if I need to start taking the prenatal pills...
Avatar f tn Fish oil is a much better source of DHA than algae. Algae sources of DHA are many (more often than not) times treated with bleach and hexane to remove odors etc. As you know bleach is not good but Hexane is much worse. Choosing fish sources for DHA that are highly purified or come from fish at the bottom of the food chain (smaller fish don't live as long or consume other fish which are ways of becoming toxic with heavy metals like mercury) such as sardines, anchovies, and krill.
Avatar f tn During my second pregnancy the pills were too much for me with nausea, so I take Flinstones Complete with my oldest. He thinks its cool we are doing the same thing.
Avatar f tn My doc said there was no reason to get prescription prenatals, that otc were just as good. She recommended nature made prenatal capsules with dha. The dha is important. Often Walgreen's has nature made b1g1 which is nice. You'll need everything in the multivitamin more now than normal cause baby is using up your vitamins.
Avatar f tn ve been finding that the fish oil and other things in the over the counter supplements may be bad during pregnancy. The pharmacist told me to stop taking them and check with my Dr but my Dr told me to take them. Just wondering if anyone else is taking extra Omega 3 Fatty acids, and if so, what kind?
548642 tn?1266179652 what are you taking??????? i was on tandem dha with my last pregnancy but this pregnancy he just has me on folic acid 1mg once a day until the 2nd trimester! he said prenatal pills will make my nausea worse and folic acid works just the same!!!
Avatar f tn oceans mom) ? Cause I have organic prenatal plus I take the dha vitamins. But it doesn't state it's a prenatal.
1281900 tn?1320336402 Supplements containing EPA may not be recommended for infants or small children because they upset the balance between DHA and EPA during early development. Pregnant women should talk to their doctor before taking fish oil supplements. Fish oil capsules may cause minor side effects, such as loose stools, abdominal discomfort, and belching. In addition, they may prolong bleeding time slightly. If you take blood-thinning medication, talk to your doctor before taking fish oil.
