Avatar m tn There are several things that can mimic DM, and the thing that makes me think that it might not BE DM is that DM usually comes along gradually and not overnight, as you have described. Before a positive DM diagnosis can be made it is advisable to test for thyroid function.
Avatar f tn My doctor told me to get the robitussin DM as long as it says alcohol free on it. I have been horribly sick all weekend and have been up all night coughing. Nothing is working /: my whole body is sore from coughing! I just want to be better already.

Avatar n tn I would recommend that he or she be taken to her physician for testing as soon as possible. It is important to be diagnosed sooner than later and if the test is negative will give you piece of mind. Please let us know what you find out and I wish you and your grandchild the very best of luck.
Avatar n tn My son has been a Type 1 diabetic for 8 years. He is now 14 years old. It is an on-going battle between the two of us to get him to write down his sugar level and insulin when he checks. He is on a regimen of Lantus and Humalog and basically uses his own discretion when counting carbs and giving insulin. Does anyone have any suggestions on how we can better track his numbers, besides me following him around with a log book? He uses the Accu-Check Instant meter.
1371269 tn?1278429094 They work wonders, but you will have to accept being uncomfortable for a couple of weeks. The insomnia and fatigue were the worst for me, personally. A good B vitamin and exercise is best for treating that. Eating right and staying hydrated help as well. As far as the DXM, I would only take the recommended dose, and then if it works, great, and if not....well, you didn't OD on something that won't work! Keep posting though! We will help you!!!
Avatar f tn I understand your PDT treatment is for acne and nothing to do with psoriasis, however the point to be taken is that photo-sensitivity is a factor in DM to be taken into serious consideration, before making this decision. Have your dermatologist explain his/her position in detail to give you at least some assurance. Of course there are no guarantees in the medical field, so I understand your need for more input on this.
1396846 tn?1332459510 You have had such a long haul of getting to this point. Now I can only hope that the quiet and calm continues for you for a long, long time. I'm sorry to hear about your sis, but 8.5 years without a relapse is pretty fantastic!
Avatar n tn Between December 2002 and October 2005, 189 non-diabetic patients were treated with Peg-IFN-alpha/Riba, of whom five developed type 1 DM (2.6%), three type 2 DM (1.6%) and one an indeterminate type of DM. Classical symptoms of DM were present in three patients who developed DM shortly after cessation of Peg-IFN-alpha/Riba. In the other patients, symptoms of DM were either indistinguishable from side effects caused by Peg-IFN-alpha/Riba or absent.
Avatar n tn Is there a time frame to have a lens implant following 2 eye surgeries for a detached retina for the best success or does it not matter? I am still debating about the lens implant surgery or to just wear a daily contact lens. I am just trying to gather more information and appreciate any professional insight. Sue 1.17.
Avatar f tn My doctor told me I can take robitussin DM for my cold. Is robitussin cough+Chest congestion DM the same thing?
Avatar f tn Also a humidifier in the room where you sleep is good too. If you are only 7 or 8 weeks it wont hurt for now to sleep in your stomach but its best to sleep on your left side because it give baby more oxygen and bloodflow. Good luck and get well soon.
Avatar f tn You can call and speak to a nurse or doctor at the hospital or another office that is open. And of course there's always Google. Personally I'm surprised that the doctor said to take DM since it's typically more dangerous. Dextromethorphan (DM) is the chemical that makes you trip (hallucinatory or get a kind of drunk type feeling) if you drink enough and is very commonly abused and can be pretty harmful, so that's why it surprises me so much that they said take that.
Avatar n tn I had low sex drive for years. I'm sure higher blood sugars (and the accompanying yeast infections) didn't help matters. I also think because I didn't have regular periods until after my children were born, that may have contributed. Good luck. Things only got better for me in my mid-30's. My only piece of advice is this: think hard before taking any hormones that "boost" sexuality.
Avatar f tn I had an adverse reaction to Mucinex DM. In May I had an upper resporitory infection and my doctor prescribed antibiotics and told me to take a decongestant. I bought the Mucinex DM (12 hour time release) and took one pill before bed. I woke up 3:00 am hallucinating big white globs. It was pretty bad and I called the nurse hotline for my insurance. The nurse told me to call poison control. Poison Control told me the "DM" in the medicine was a hallucinagent.
489000 tn?1364302227 Thanks for the advice. As long as Sophia is healthy and can survive outside of the womb without any interventions, I will so welcome seeing her before I thought I would!
