how long for amitiza to work

Then my GI doc showed me the discoloration that the laxative did to my colon, this was I believe caused by the laxatives blocking necessary elements in my diet to keep a colon healthy! I did try Amitiza, it does work for me, 8 mcg twice daily. I went off of it due to the cost, and ended up in the hospital.... NOT fun. I am back on Amitiza now, and hoping to be back to normal soon.

Reported this to the doctor (specialist at a university clinic) abpndcwas told to get an EKG done but stay on the med and give it time to work. It's been a month and I am absolutely no better!! Read on other boards this drip ugh has worked for many but not for me!!

My daughter has been on Amitiza 8 mg but today it was increased to 24 mg because of chronic constipation. She is only 9 years old. I had to give her an enema and it didn't work. I can't figure out what keeps binding her up.

And I have been prescribed Amitiza only for it to make extremely sick. Just wondering what possible drugs this specialist could possibly have that other doctors cant prescribe. I dont want to be a guinea pig and be trying stuff that is not safe. I dont want my condition to become worse because of them where I cant later have surgery etc.

Also take Lactulose and Amitiza. However, in order to take the Amitiza must take a nausea pill before and after. Often times still have nausea with the Amitiza and not convinced it helps all that much. I've been at this for 8 yrs and have done everything but stand on my head. Without pills and powder - bowel movements are difficult and every 3-5 days. And only partial. EXTREMELY bloated. Have difficulty fitting into street clothes later in the day. Makes work life and social life difficult.

So my question, how long to start feeling the effects of Zoloft? She is starting at 50 mg for a week then moving up to 100mg. Any information would be helpful.. If you are planning on working after you have the baby, it is good to work for as long as possible before the baby comes. here's why--- that time you take off counts toward your short term disability and the family medical leave. There are maximum days associated with both of those and you'd be using them to have the baby early. I worked until close to my due date with my first taking a few vacation days.

I have been on it for a year I cant go to the bathroom without taking it, but strangely enough only if I take it in the mornings does it seem to work if I take it with evening meals no BM, but if I take it with Breakfast seems to work, no chest pain or ill effects, but have overpowering urge to go but beats weeks of constipation, I praise the difference it has made for me.

) Barium enema xray = because my colon is so long and loopy they had to fill me up with 3 bags of barium instead of 1 and had to flip me upside down for quite a long time to even get the test going. The results showed the same thing as the colonoscopy. Longest 2 hours of my life. Worse procedure EVER! At this point the GI dr told me there was really nothing they could do for me but continue running more tests to eliminate other things.

I have gone through every test which found gastroparesis, lactose intolerance, acid reflux, and a gastrointestinal motility disorder. One test you can still try is a sits-marker test which will show how long it takes stuff to get through your entire system. What medications are you on for the constipation? Another thing you can try that helped me is to cut out all gas producing foods like beans, carbonation, and caffeine. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions.

Was to embarassed to talk to my male neuro (have no idea why) but I did go to my family dr and she gave me Amitiza which has actually helped. I've been taking it for 10 days and have had success.

This AM the nausea was so bad I called the GI group and was told to stop taking the Amitiza for a few weeks and that the most common side effect of the drug is extreme nausea and it should ALWAYS be taken on a full stomach. In it's place she put me on 3 Metamucil tablets each morning and 1 Colace, then 1 Colace at night. We are trying this for 2/3 weeks and then maybe ease back in to the Amitiza.

Has anyone gotten there skin tag burned off? How long did it take to heal? I did and its been a month and it still hasnt healed. Having trouble with constipation and I am on amitiza. Any advice is welcome. As well, my doctor told me to take a stool softner twice a day to. Thinking about starting to eat soup.

Long and twisted colon that tends to slow passage of stool and cause constipation that can be quite severe. I take Miralax and Amitiza for mine. They work, but are expensive - especially the latter.

I have tried everything from high fiber diet, miralax, enemas, and I have been on Amitiza and Sentakot for three days and to no avail. I researched some on the internet and I am concerned that the gastrointestinal issues are from macrocyctic anemia (b-12 or pernicious anemia) from what I can figure from my symptons and blood work. What is the treatment for such? Whom would I see regarding this? What other methods will relieve the constipation? I am very miserable and feel awlful 24/7.
