My TSH is 0. My T4 is 12.3. (I do take Premarin.) My T3 Uptake is 30.2. I had my right tyroid gland removed in 1983. There was a benign tumor. I used to have a 2 reading for my TSH. Luckily my job is very felxible and it is not affected by my lousy moods..but my hubby is ready to kill me. He thinks it's all in my head and to "snap out of it". Help, anyone?? I quit the estradoil and earlier this week I went back to my old Gyn and told him about the symptoms I am having. Insomnia is the worst, anxiety, depression. He put me back on premarin .625. I have been taking this for three days now. He mentioned about the progesterone for sleep but was wanting to wait and see how I do with just the premarin. I gave it two days still poor sleep. I called him yesterday to see if he would be willing to call in a prescription for progesterone and he did.

It's odd that Premarin would flare your symptoms if pregnancy, especially late pregnancy, is supposed to suppress them (I'm thinking of estrogen load; it is sequestered somewhat by proteins during pregnancy, but if I remember correctly, folks aver that it's the extra estrogen that confers some relief from MS)...

I have mixed feelings about this. How is this cutting into science? It instead is cutting into profits that those who didn't do the research want to make (make no doubt about it, there is a TON of cash in the generic drug industry---- they put in no money to do the research, the studies, etc, so they make a very high profit margin on the product). This is a legal issue with patenting and not about science. And public sector scientists also do the same thing by patenting their work.

You don't want cancer . . . so if the risk increases greatly, that is reason to get off the premarin but I'm sure your body is craving the hormone! Hope you are doing okay. Bio-identical hormones are newer, safer and can be tailor adjusted for your own personal anatomy. I use Vivelle its a patch I only need estrogen for now, many need a combo.

t mean to sound rude, but premarin is not a great replacement. It is made from the urine of pregnant mares (horses). They have different make ups than us humans. I hope you get some answers regarding the hormones. Do you take meds for the hyperthyroidism? I had a brief episode of thyroiditis a few years ago and was put on PTU and inderal for a short time. Mine resolved but there are many treatments to get that condition under control.

That is odd but I've heard of other cases where women will do fine on a certain HRT and then it just stops working or being as effective. Do you take it at night? If so, try switching to the morning. I would think dose timing would be more of an issue with a straight estradiol product than Premarin but that would be worth trying if you take it at night. Are you also taking something to protect your uterus or did you have a hysterectomy?

I suffer from Hashimotos autoimmune disease for many years and was diagnosed last year with Lupus after suffering many years with leukopenia which was caused by the Lupus or the Premarin. Please read up on bio-identical hormones, most all consider them to be superior to premarin( which is made from horses urine) I and many other regular members use a product called Vivelle, available in many forms , but I like the patch, just slap one on two time per week, below the belly buttom on abdomen. Bio-identical is much more chemically closer to a womans natural estrogen.
