Common Questions and Answers about How does forteo work

forteo

Avatar f tn I have severe osteoporosis and am trying to take Forteo. I started out with half dose and have worked up to a full dose. The full dose 2 days in a row was disabling. My doctor suggested every other day. So I let the previous trial work its way out of my system for 5 days and tried another full dose. This is three days after the dose and I am weaker each day. I move in slow motion. My doctor is puzzled. Anyone had a similar experience?
Avatar n tn My experience with Forteo is that the calcium does not rise much and these are not common side effects - but it is possible. Also, would re-evaluate pre-Forteo PTH and calcium levels to make sure you did not have mild primary hyperpara before starting Forteo. If still in doubt, sometimes a break from the medication and a future re-challenge can help establish cause-effect.
Avatar f tn Just was informed that I have osteoporosis. My doctor wants me to use Forteo, an injection that you use for two years.
Avatar f tn My doctor told me that I have Osteoporosis and wants me to try Forteo an injection for two years. Has anyone tried this drug and what were your side effects, if any. I don't want to make my stomach problems worse than there already are.
Avatar f tn I have been on Forteo daily injections for 1 year and I have experienced considerable joint pains which did not exist prior to treatment. My left hip and knee, my right knee and my hands have been getting worse each month. Has anyone else experienced similar reactions?
Avatar f tn As for myself, I am a patient suffering from severe osteoporosis. My doctor, realizing I cannot afford Forteo ($950 per month!), has suggested I try to find how I can take the equivalent, generic version, which is Bonista. Please, if anyone can tell me how to get ahold of this medication, any address, emails of sellers, etc! I would be so grateful! This discussion is related to Bonista-side effects.
Avatar f tn I'm curious to see how you are doing now. I've come upon your post as I was looking up forteo and candida. I myself, have candida and took forteo a few years back and are wondering if they are related. Hope by now that you are on the mend.
908504 tn?1269103899 My new doctor thinks I might have osteomalasia. Does anyone else here have that? Could you tell me alittle about it?
Avatar f tn Hi-- When you say Medicare, I assume it is Medicare Part D, administered by an insurance company like Blue Cross, etc? If so, you might be in for sticker shock. I had a similar experience w/ Forteo, via Part D, they wanted $5K for 3 months. I went directly to Lilly, and qualified for pro bono meds for 2 years, the limit of tx on Forteo. My understanding is patients with cirrhosis get priority. Other Gilead experienced persons, and there are a few here, can tell you more.
Avatar f tn They are suppose to strip my membranes how does that work? Does it hurt.
Avatar f tn m wondering if anyone can point me to a thread where it explains exactly how one starts on suboxone, how it works, and how long you are on it for? Any info would be so greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!
5506662 tn?1369334325 I have 5 days till my due date and baby doesnt seem to want to come any time soon. The doctor said is I went to 41 weeks they would probably induce me. How exactly does that work? I thought it was just some kind of medicine they gave you through an IV but a friend said something about them sticking a needle up there. Im a little freaked out, could someone please explain it to me?
Avatar f tn I haven't posted in a while and am wondering if anyone can help me with this because I can't find this answer anywhere... How does Oraquick work? I know it checks for antibodies and I know there are antigens on the test. My question is how do they create the antigens?Do they create a whole virus and then pull the antigen out of it? Where on the test are these antigens located? Are they on the T line? I have many fears regarding hiv but one of them is this test!
