718868 tn?1230730029 Hi there, I have to agree with Cherie. I too am on the vivelle dot patch, I change mine every 2 days and also take estradiol one tab at bedtime. I am like a new person. I think they have finally gotten my hormone replacement right. I must say that premarin is one of the older, not so good hormone replacement products available. There are so many new and safer bioidentical hormones on the market like the vivelle.
Avatar f tn I had a complete hysterectomy 5 1/2 years ago at the age of 35 for a borderline serous tumor in one of my ovaries. I have been on the vivelle dot .1mg patch for several years with no problems. Lately, I have been having symptoms of low estrogen like hot flashes. Unfortunately, my gyn oncologist has retired so I have been seeing my regular ob for my yearly follow up.
Avatar m tn Just wondering why "he" is using this product anyway? It is a patch used by women for hormone replacement therapy!
7649183 tn?1393014236 Hi, I had a hysterectomy years ago and have been taking the estradiol pill for years. I started recently using the patch since I thought it would be better for my liver and a more natural way to get the estrogen. I'm doing this to protect again osteoporosis. I take Vivelle-Dot lowest dose--.025. I feel fine, but my breasts are sore. They never were when taking the estradiol pill--.05/day.
1168718 tn?1464983535 Hi, I'm on a HRT (Vivelle-Dot) but I'm also a limbolander, but I might be of some help. I was put on Vivelle-Dot after loosing all my hormones due to a hysterectomy. Both Vivelle-Dot and Climara seem to contain estradiol (a form of estrogen bioidentical to your body's own). In the summer, I have been on this med for a year. I was put on this med right after my last form of hormone was removed (which was one ovary by this point).
Avatar f tn I had a hysterectomy in October 2009, I was put on the vivelle-dot patch. I'm on the lowest dose (0.05mg). I change the patch twice a week. I had my yearly mamogram (which has always been normal). I picked up the report today and it says: Findings: Dense and hetergenous breast parenchyma is again observed with minor asymmetry.
178345 tn?1242536246 Hi Girls - Just wondering anyone on HRT Patch..Vivelle Dot..Lately, I have been so tired..extremely tired and my joints hurt..I am not sure what this is related to..wondering if it has to do with the hormone patch??? I am eating well and losing weight (on purpose) so I dont know what is wrong..tomorrow I am seeing my primary MD..Just thought if anyone has any idea...please share..
178345 tn?1242536246 Girls - I know I should maybe post this elsewhere but since you guys are my friends and know so much I was just wondering if anyone here that is on the vivelle-dot patch have any side effects from it..for 2 days I have this drawing pain in my upper thigh...it is more of a nuisance than a real terrible pain...I always worry about blood clots..I took my patch off just in case for a few hours but had to put it on due to the hot flashes ...I am hoping this is nothing but I am worried..
Avatar f tn Could this be caused by the patch losing effectiveness before the week is up? Would switching to Vivelle Dot, which has a twice a week schedule, help prevent the bleeding?
Avatar m tn In June, I had the remaining ovary removed because it was not working and my hormones were all over the board. I was started on the V-dot patch twice a week. I have tinkered with Prometrium and testosterone cream. I have read mixed results about progesterone after hysterectomy. The testosterone cream, I thought, was causing acne. I NEVER have acne, so I stopped taking that. I noticed other issues going on and my regular doctor said it was due to the V-dot patch.
Avatar f tn The thing is, these studies are on post menopausal women. I can see where taking a replacement hormone when your body should naturally not be making this hormone anymore could be bad and I wouldn't do it. But what about the people who were thrown into surgical menopause at a time their body would still be producing it?
Avatar f tn I started hormones last week and they put me on the vivelle dot patch. I put a patch (0.1mg) on every Monday morning and change it on Thurs night to a new patch. Sometimes they have to tweak the dose as a person might need more in the beginning. That seems to be the case for me. The NP at my gyn/oncs office yesterday told me to change the patch after 2 days for now to see how I do. I was getting irritable and had an increase in night sweats by the last day and just feeling kinda yucky.
Avatar f tn Started having sever hot-flashes so my doctor put me on the Vivelle Dot. It took care of the hot-flashes but caused me to gain 10 pounds in a 6 week period. My doc said the weight gain was from menopause. Well, I took the patch off 2 weeks ago and threw it away, and I have now lost 6 of those pounds and feel much better. I think it was causing depressiont too. I have been on bio-identical hormones for a few years - progesterone cream and DHA cream - and have done fine.
Avatar n tn Yes, except for the tingling in arms, I get it in my hands, I had my ovaries out 6 weeks ago so I was thrown into full blown menopause, lost of interest in just about everything, tired, moody, plugged up the bath tub with hair loss when I washed my hair, I went for my post op check up and Dr, explained to me for a long time abou bio identical hormone replacemnet, he sold me on it, right now Im using Vivelle dot its a really small patch you put on either your belly or hip.
Avatar f tn Some women find that trying a different brand can make a world of difference such as switching from Vivelle-Dot or Minivelle (3 day patch) to Climara (7 day patch). They have different adhesives that can affect uptake of the estrogen. The Vivelle-Dot did not work well for me and I didn't know any better to try Climara. If the patch doesn't work out, there are pills, gels, and vaginal rings you can try. Hope you find something that helps soon! I know how desperate it can feel!
Avatar n tn I advise that you read up on bio-identical hormones, they come in may forms such as creames, mist sprays, pills, I personally found the patch to be the best method for me, very easy to use, and I think ( just my opinion) that the patch deliveres the most acurate does, ( except pills) Ive never been convinced mists or creams could be dosed properly. Yes deffinatley make an appointment with your Dr.
Avatar m tn Or do I just go on estriol cream/patch or estrogel cream....and then figure out if I need t add more, and how do I figure that out - how does one know if she needs progesterin/progestin or testosterone added (either the medical kind or the bio identical kind).
Avatar f tn No this is not like that, I had vaginal sex with condom but condom got broke so i tested with that tridot rapid antibody kit ,after that test lab technician gave me that kit with the results which had only one dot in control area so i kep that kit but in nest day morning when i checked that kit i found another widely spread patch which didn't look like dot
Avatar n tn So the anxiety of this little dot the size of a needle stick made me get a herpes out break... As one herpes sore was healing I kept checking that red dot which was more inside the patch of hair under my lip "soul patch" then bam I start to feel tingling and itching and another herpes outbreak. The thing is that little red dot was there for over 5 weeks no oozing no crusting. And I started to panic. Now I'm worried because I'm reading so much stuff online.
Avatar n tn I am a 42 year old .....had a full hysterectomy in May 2007.. I am on the biodentical hormone patch - vivelle-dot...I also couldnt live with the hot flashes...I am on a very low dose 0.5 and it seems to keep the flashes at bay...there are times I get a hot one but for the most part it works great...I was not keen on being on the patch but after suffering for so long I was able to adjust my hormone level where I am at a comfortable level now..Without the patch my life was horrible...
Avatar n tn Im reading a lot of advice against the use of hormone replacement therapy, but the studies I have researched report that its the combination of progesterone and estrogen that is bad for you, and that estrogen alone may actually decrease the risk of breast cancer. My question then is has anybody else read any studies similar?
20841648 tn?1574339564 After a week I noticed one really really tiny like micro dot which is red in color and is on my shoulder. I wonder what it could be? Is it normal?
Avatar f tn Hi, I had a complete hysterectomy and have been on an estrogen patch ( vivelle dot) for ten years. I have had migraines for 30 yrs. I’m really struggling because changing the patch every three days triggers a migraine like clock work. At 12 hrs the pain begins and builds so by 24 hrs it’s debilitating. Pain meds are not an option that frequently obviously. Would it help to overlap the tone I put one on and take the old one off. Clearly the rise and fall of estrogen is the trigger.
Avatar f tn Thank you for responding, I am on Vivelle Dot 1mg patch (HRT) and the surgeon is aware of it but stated that I should not be on it longer than 5 years. She doesnt seem to concerned with it. I have been reading that with ADH it puts you at a higher risk to get breast cancer in the future, so would they put be on something to help prevent or just keep doing the mammograms?
Avatar f tn I had a hysterctomy almost 3 years ago at the age of 35 for a borderline serous tumor. My oncologist put me on an estrogen replacement patch and I have been using them ever since. With all the stuff in the news lately about HRT and their new findings, I would love to know your opinion. Are these studies only on women who have gone through natural menopause or do they also include women who were put into surgical menopause at a young age?
Avatar f tn Hi I don't know how much this will help but I am coming from having hormone replacement to trying to get off of it and it's horrible. I am calling my doctor in the morning to start going back up. I had a hysterectomy when I was 26 and have been on premerin all these years. DO NOT get on premerin not matter what. It is a terrible drug. It worked for me for years but for other reasons I will not take it and nobody should. I am on Vivelle Dot.
Avatar n tn To help me avoid radical menopause sypmtoms, my doctor immediately started me on a .5 mg. Vivelle-dot estrogen patch after surgery, and I felt fine. Two weeks later, he added a 100 mg. daily dose of prometrium to my HRT therapy to avoid recurrence of endometriosis growth. My problem is that I am having unpleasant side effects from the prometrium, including exhaustion, minor headache, and lightheadedness. I don't like how it makes me feel.
