Avatar f tn From what I get out of it is that the study only looks at women who have gone through natural menopause and not surgical menopause. I can see where taking something that your body is naturally not producing anymore is not good. I don't know of any study for women in surgical menopause at a young age and that is frustrating!! For now, I have decided to stay on the estrogen patch and I'll talk more with my doctor in March.
Avatar f tn I started having the usual symptoms of menopause about the same time I had my first migraine, Jan 4. 2003. I had never had a migraine until that day. Not one. My physicians told me over and over that the migraines are not related to the hyster.. I can't really see how that's possible. Many of the menop. symptoms have lessened but the migraines are as strong as ever. I take Femtrace as a hormone replacement.
Avatar n tn the product I used ( my main symptoms where hot flashes, night sweats) was the Vivelle estrogen patch. Your Dr can and should do blood work, because even though it may seem not your ovaries are still trickling just a bit of estrogen so you need to know your hormone levels ( Dr does) to prescribe correct combination or single hormone, what ever you may need.
Avatar f tn If they were not removed, this could be symptoms of natural menopause or a more severe menopause if the ovaries are shutting down. Studies show that naturally menopausal ovaries produce hormones until at least age 80. Hysterectomy with ovary preservation can cause the ovaries to die which increases risk for a number of health problems such as heart disease and osteoporosis. Estrogen typically alleviates the symptoms you are experiencing.
Avatar n tn Vitex (or chaste tree) is rich in flavonoids and has been used over 2 thousand years to regulate hormone imbalances and as a remedy for menopausal symptoms. Most practitioners consider it as "one of the best herbs for use in the early stages of the menopausal transition." Some women find it helps hot flashes, night sweats, heart palpitations, vaginal dryness and thinning, libido, mood swings, insomnia, breast tenderness, lack of concentration, and headaches.
Avatar f tn I had a hysterctomy almost 3 years ago at the age of 35 for a borderline serous tumor. My oncologist put me on an estrogen replacement patch and I have been using them ever since. With all the stuff in the news lately about HRT and their new findings, I would love to know your opinion. Are these studies only on women who have gone through natural menopause or do they also include women who were put into surgical menopause at a young age?
1168718 tn?1464983535 Hi guys, just a question about HRT.............. anyone out there on it, and does it affect your MS drugs, and did it help?? I was prescribed Climara .05 in a patch once a week, and I'm scared to try it. I was just wondering if anyone out there has tried these drugs and what was your take on them. Any feedback would be appreciated.... Thxs..
Avatar f tn I have never been on Premarin, which is a synthetic hormone (as I am sure you know) and was used quite exclusively for years for menopausal symptoms. It was also the hormone used in the big logitudinal study abruptly stopped in 2002... checking on the efficacy of womens hormones on the effect they would have on heart disease in women. The study was flawed from the start, however. And, even though I am not a Premarin fan at all, there are some women who do okay on it.
Avatar f tn I still have my ovaries and up until a year or so ago was still having what seemed like the cycles of breast tenderness and other symptoms like I had when I got my period . For the last year I have been having what I think are long cycles, rather irregular, of momentary hot flashes and excessive sweating. Without periods, is there any way I will know when I am through with menopause? Is there anything natural I can take for some of the symptoms? Thank you.
Avatar f tn Postmenopausal bleeding, timing of meds& 15mm lining by iatrofears, less than a minute Hi my last period was 11/2011 so i guess as of 11/2012 i started menopause. March 2013 i started climara patch& progesterone but since the patch gave me hives i was only partially compliant. Also i'd forget to take the progesterone sometimes. Tests: 1.Ultrasound 8/2012( before true 'menopause' began because only 8 months of no periods not 12). The endometrium thickness 7.
1094370 tn?1317134825 I have all of the same symptoms in addition to others. I have been to a Neurologist, Rheumatologist, Cardiologist, etc... . I have PVCs and have also been diagnosed with Raynauds. Otherwise, nobody can find a thing wrong with me. Even though my Obgyn says I am no where near menopause, I tend to assume that's what it is. It's hard to believe All of these symptoms could just be Menopause though.
4103247 tn?1349811776 s totally out of the realm of possibility that this could be menopause/peri menopause. Now that the doctor has some baseline hormone levels, you can check them again in a few months. It also sounds like a kind of withdrawal syndrome. How long on the patches? How long at this dose?
Avatar n tn I used the 1/2 patch for over a month, and I still had the same symptoms, so the doctor told me to cut out all caffiene. It's been three weeks since I stopped caffiene. I feel like I have a "brain fog", which may be the caffiene withdraw, but also my breasts are big and heavy, and the 22 pounds that I lost earlier this year have packed back on in the past two months. I feel like a balloon - lol!
Avatar n tn I had a LAVH on April 21st.I was diagnosed with uterine cancer, thats why I had the surgery. Before I had the surgery I had a flare of shingles that I have been dealing with since 2004. I was put up to the max dose of valtrex to get me through the surgery 1000 mg 3x's daily. .I had been on 500 mg valtrex 1x daily, and neurontin 600mg 2x a day and amiltriptylene 25mg. once daily as maintanance for my post herpatic pain. They put a climera patch on me out of surgery.
Avatar n tn It was not until after my surgery (Not saying the surgery corrected it, in fact, it had the potential to make things worse) I got relief because by then I was on a steady stream of Estradiol (by way of the Vivelle patch.. a bioidentical hormone... estradiol is reputed by many to be the premier estrogen and personally I won't use anything else for estrogen replacement). I also use testosterone, which will also keep that area supple.
Avatar f tn I had a complete hysterectomy 5 1/2 years ago at the age of 35 for a borderline serous tumor in one of my ovaries. I have been on the vivelle dot .1mg patch for several years with no problems. Lately, I have been having symptoms of low estrogen like hot flashes. Unfortunately, my gyn oncologist has retired so I have been seeing my regular ob for my yearly follow up.
437027 tn?1670266352 Some find surgical menopause difficult. Some people sail through it no problem. You can be put on an Estrogen patch, but if you have had a cancer diagnosis that is not always an option. I can't tell you about my personal experience with it, as I am just a "left over" from the old days when this forum was for everyone and I am well aware that I am not welcome here, as I, thankfully, was fortunate to receive a benign diagnosis.
Avatar m tn I had mine removed at age 38, they wanted to give me hormone pills, but I refused. I never had any symptoms nor problems even though I was told that I would go into "instant menopause". However, everybody is different, but since you are "post menopausal" I would not take hormone replacement if I were you. Your doctor might not even suggest it. Now a days they are more cautious when it comes to prescribing hormone replacements.
Plant Is there a home hormone test to check for menopause or peri-menopause, I can purchase without going to the doctor?
Avatar m tn I am a 50 year old women just starting menopause, is it normal to have all the symptoms of starting a period, like breast swelling, bloating, weight gain, and then it just goes away after a few days, but with no bleeding.
Avatar f tn Hi my last period was 11/2011 so i guess as of 11/2012 i started menopause. March 2013 i started climara patch& progesterone but since the patch gave me hives i was only partially compliant. Also i'd forget to take the progesterone sometimes. Tests: 1.Ultrasound 8/2012( before true 'menopause' began because only 8 months of no periods not 12). The endometrium thickness 7.7mm Ovaries i forgot but they were both bisible. 2. Ultrasound 11/2013: 15mm.
Avatar n tn I believe that my wife, who had suffered from postpartum psychosis after the birth of our last child, had an increased genetic susceptibility to affective illness as a result of hormone changes at menopause, especially with abrupt hormone changes that appear to have occurred because of her UAE and hysterectomy (induced menopause). COULD THIS BE TRUE?
491716 tn?1211048106 I would say these are pretty classic symptoms, but in the past these have been once-a-month PMS symptoms. Sometimes it is hard to tell if it is true menopause. Will hormone levels (blood drawn) reveal if it is true menopause?
Avatar f tn Now when I get them, I take note of it since it tells me that I may need to either increase my dose of estradiol or that I need to change my estradiol patch sooner... (I use the Vivelle patch.. a bioidentical estradiol transdermal patch). Years ago I had all of this checked out by a Cardiac doctor who told me I had benign tacycardia, but we did not discuss how ovarian levels of estradiol affects our heart and how palpatations can occur when things are not at optimal levels.
