Avatar n tn I was diagnosed at age 49 in May, 2007 with Stage II, 3 nodes positive. I had 4 rounds of A/C and 4 rounds of Taxol followed by 33 rounds of radiation. My doctor now wants to put me on hormone therapy. I am premenopausal but haven't gotten my period since July due to chemo. She won't put me on Tamoxifin because of a past history of TIA several years ago. She said I would be at too high a risk for stroke on it.
Avatar f tn On September 29, 2009 I had a complete hystorectomy with a 10lb adnexal mass removed at MD Anderson. An intestinal type cancer of low malignant potential was found. I am waiting to be sceduled for an MRI & Colonoscopy. After my surgery I was prescribed Effexor for my mood swings and hot flashes. The doctor has continued to increase the dosage up to the highest = 150 mg per day. All it has done for me is turn me into a zombie.
Avatar n tn s plenty of confusion about hormone replacement therapy, which is now commonly called hormone therapy. The truth is that hormone therapy is not a magical cure , but it's still the most effective treatment for unpleasant menopausal symptoms for most women. Estrogen remains the most effective treatment for relief of troublesome menopausal hot flashes and night sweats. It can also ease vaginal symptoms of menopause, such as dryness, itching, burning and discomfort with intercourse.
Avatar f tn Has anybody tried bio identical hormone therapy for Depression? I've heard so much about it. I heard it helps you alot with menopause, depression and with other issues. They check your hormones and then depending how your test comes out they insert some pellets into your hip. I'm looking into doing it.
Avatar f tn I had a hysterectomy 2 years ago and noticed an increase in the symptoms of menopause, especially hot flashes. My gynocologist perscribed estrogel which I have found somewhat helpful for the hot flashes, but I had lost 30 lbs before the surgery, and now have gained it all back and more. I feel very drained mentally, physically and emotionally. I prefer not to used synthetic drugs and hormones. Can you recommend a relief for the hot flashes, and maybe the rest of the unwanted symptoms.
Avatar f tn Sounds like with a total hysterectomy you were probably thrown immediately into menopause. Without your ovaries and egg production, no sex hormones are being produced. I highly recommend you checking with your doctor about getting on some form of bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. You will feel better. Check out Dr. Schwarzbein's website. She is an endocronologist and deals with hormones. She is coming out with a book on Menopause.
Avatar f tn I have been on bioidentical hormone therapy for several years: estrogel 0.06% 2 pumps once daily and prometrium 200 mg. daily. My main symptoms for seeking treatment were severe hot flashes, night sweats and insomnia. These symptoms have subsided since being on hormone replacement therapy. I do not have access to individual dosage evaluation and preparation of these hormones. I know that it is best to take the lowest dosage that gives me relief of my symptoms to decrease my risks of cancer.
Avatar f tn These menopausal symptoms can also be the result of chemotherapy, ovarian ablation, and hormone therapy. Women can get relief from these symptoms by opting for Hormone Replacement Therapy for Women. It helps in balancing the estrogen and progesterone levels.
Avatar f tn Thanks rk
Avatar n tn Yes those drugs do have many side effects but not everyone will experience all of them or to the same degree. It has been proven that they do reduce the chance of recurrence by a rather high percentage but it is totally your decision. There is no reason that you couldn't try one of them and see what side effects you experience and then either switch to another drug or discontinue altogether if the side effects are severe. I do think it's the best path to take with lumpectomy. Regards ..
Avatar f tn I'm experiencing Menopause and it seems my outbreaks are worse. Does this get better over time?
Avatar f tn I have not seen any connection between hormone replacement therapy and HCV in all my on-line research. HRT has risks of its own and I'd consider it very carefully before starting it.
Avatar f tn Well I havent gone through menopause yet, but I did see a womens health doctor and she tested all my hormone levels and said I was in pre menopause, I was only 31 at the time, she wanted to start me on hormone replacement therapy, she said it would help with my anxiety so much, I didnt want to start HRT at such a young age, and you always hear about women that get cancer with hormone Replacement so I was scared as well. So here I am still dealing with anxiety.
Avatar f tn told me today that my FSH counts were very low 82, that is when she suggested the ScottoPelle Hormone Therapy. It cost $300 dollars and last 3 to 6 months, insurance does not cover it. I just still do not understand the FSH counts, she explanied it to me but I am still a confused? Can anyone help me understand??
561921 tn?1216605621 When the ovaries are removed, estrogen levels suddenly drop. This change causes early menopause and increased osteoporosis risk When taking hormone therapy after an oophorectomy it is important to take estrogen plus progestin (hormone replacement therapy). The progestin protects the uterus from the increased risk of estrogen-related endometrial cancer. You can read more about this through this link: http://www.healthgrades.com/kbase/dp/topic/tn9713/dp.htm Take care an regards.
Avatar f tn When my antibodies came back high 2 years ago I was already seeing a hormone doc for anti-aging medicine and to control my perimenopause symptoms. I was interested in only taking bioidenticals and included my thyroid meds in that so that is when I started having the T3/T4 compounded into an oral pill. The TPO-ab results did go down, but now I see the last 3 labs have been high, but everything else normal. No, I did not take any meds before the draw, and I was fasting as well.
Avatar f tn But there is treatment for premenopausal symptoms in the form of Hormone Replacement therapy (HRT). You can discuss this with your primary care physician when you happen to meet him next time. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn My sister is a 45 postmenopausal female which is because of two much fibroid(30 pcs) did hysterectomy two days ago and one ovary removed , one ovary remained ,I need to know does this one ovary can support enough hormone(Estrogen ,progesterone) for her body and does she have menstrual cycle or no ?
Avatar f tn HI, Your symptoms can be due to lack of hormones and this can be relieved by HRT or hormone replacement therapy. However for this you need to consult your Doctor. Also a healthy diet and regular exercise will help keep weight in control and also help with the tiredness. Supplements of multi-vitamins can be taken. Hope this helps. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations. You are requested to consult your Doctor.
Avatar f tn Hi. I am a 38 year old mother of three and just a week and a half ago had a total abdominal hysterectomy. While in recovery I began to bleed and had to be taken back to the o/r for another surgery to stop the bleeding. Since I have been at home, my doctor has given me zero input on what type of hormones or natural supplements I should be looking into. I am now anemic and have had several issues with my incision; it didn't close and I'm worried about infection.
1445110 tn?1388209711 I am afraid and would like an opinion as to what to do. My doctor did recommend stronger hormone therapy for three months and repeat the biopsy. Or, up to me if I want a partial hysterectomy. Thank you for any opinion.
Avatar n tn t want to start on hormone therapy until I demonstrate signs that I need them. I am 46, and they say that although I was pre-menopausal prior, it is better to wait and see if I "need" the hormone therapy. If we experience uncomfortable hot flashes & other signs of trouble, then they start the therapy. The oncologist also told me something I had never heard before.
Plant Is there a home hormone test to check for menopause or peri-menopause, I can purchase without going to the doctor?
Avatar n tn s, who have had ER/PR HER2 negative breast cancer, stage I, no spread to lymph nodes (surgery, followed by radiation and chemotherapy) in regards to hormone replacement therapy due to complete hysterectomy resulting in severe menopause reactions?
Avatar n tn Having a few sweats, mood swings or dryness issues, was nothing compared to hearing the words- You have C-A-N-C-E-R, chemotherapy, etc. That was my medical hell, not menopause. My cancer can not handle HRT, and I wanted nothing to do with it. Menopause was a piece of cake, OvCA has not been. Best of Luck to you.
Avatar f tn Hello, Candidiasis is caused by the overgrowth of yeast-like fungi called Candida. Candida inhabit the vagina, mouth and digestive tract in small numbers and are normally harmless. When the balance of naturally occurring organisms in the vagina is disrupted an overgrowth of Candida can occur.
