976897 tn?1379167602 At last it looks as though the English Government are going to take Mental Illness seriously and the new reforms to the NHS will take this into account. It has been stated by health experts that nearly all cancer and heart disease patients have some form of Mental Illness, for example depression. It has been estimated that around 20% of the public have Mental Illness, 16% have Heart disease and 16% cancer.
Avatar f tn For many years I have suffered from visual and auditory hallucinations, night terrors, and sleep paralysis and have even acted out nightmares while sleep walking (issuing a knife to carve into my chest). I have been on many mental illness meds but Depakote does seem to help the best even those it only seems to help to a minimum.
517872 tn?1623105664 What category of mental illness would you place irrational Doubts with little substances of evidence or matters of chance with paranoia and suspicion about realities and possibilities? Schizophrenia depression?
488498 tn?1215070259 I have been doing some research on the internet about epilepsy and mental illness and what I have read is that there are a lot of similarities in the formation of the brain between the two - does this mean that a person who has epilepsy is more likely to suffer from some sort of mental illness - also many of the anti seizure medications are being used / the professionals have found that they also work as mood stabalizers, is this true.
Avatar f tn Yep - you don't talk about it. When you do, even though, by law under Disablilities Act, you are still going to scare those uneducated people about the illness. I agree also, that if we had cancer, it would be - not easier - but employers are more understanding. When we have days that are hard because we have been up for 3 days, it's not easily understandable.
Avatar n tn Can cannabis related mental illness (anxiety, depression, OCD) be treated (successfully) in the same way as the same complaints suffered by people who have never used cannabis in their lifetime?
Avatar f tn I was just wondering if grace is something people feel or strive towards when recovering from mental illness. Strange question but I seem to be so willful or forceful regarding my health and recovery and I was wondering if people experience mental illness as a positive thing (outside personal growth and development). Do many people sit back and accept diagnosis and treatment and life graciously? (We probably wouldn't be depressed if we did would we??
Avatar f tn I have been taking cymbalta(60mg) and wellbutrin (200mg) daily for 3 years. I decided I was tired of taking it, it didn't seem to be helping me anymore, and I was tired of the expense. I quit wellbutrin cold turkey about a 5 days ago and I quit cymbalta cold turkey 3 days ago. I now feel like I am losing my mind. I have been feeling and acting somewhat manic. I have felt kind of 'hi' and actually like it.
Avatar f tn I guess what I want to know is, what are some things I can do to help with his illness and if my baby could possibly develop mental illness for the simple fact that the father has mental illness. Also, is someone with a serious illness like that suitable to raise a child. I love him so much, but my baby comes first.
7606649 tn?1392686521 Mental illness skips the men in my family. Myself, my mother, my grandmother, and my great grandmother all suffered from depression and obsessive compulsive disorder. Up until I found out I was pregnant I was debating on whether or not I would ever want kids because the risk posed to them. Now that I am pregnant I'm extremely excited. Even if my baby gets ill in the future, who better to handle it than me! Takes one to know one I guess, ha. I'm sure everything will be fine.
8970202 tn?1401178809 None of my friends are at the point in life i am so i have lost friends because im pregnant, but that doesnt really bother me i would choose my baby over anyone. But as far as mental illness i would talk to my doctor about the illness and that you want to have a baby. I know being pregnant has made me crazy and ive never had mental issues. Hormones make you super emotional.
Avatar f tn I started saying to myself why am I going though this and not other people? Am I mentally ill? My fear of having (ocd/any mental illness including anxiety disorders) which made me have panic attacks then I was ignoring the panic attacks and never had it again. First week from 20/1/15 was rough, then slowly the feelings started to go away and it's nothing except thoughts about this - Will everyone have anxiety about health if they are worried about it?
Avatar f tn Has anyones mental health been impacted by living with endometriosis or finding out they have the illness? If so how are you coping/dealing with it?
Avatar n tn It is certainly that during your illness you have a fever that let your delusion. Because of your lifelong anxiety and shyness you are predisposed to that kind of depersonalization experience. I think you would benefit by seeing a therapist and trying to do something about your underlying anxiety and shyness.
Avatar f tn Was watching one of those sort of horridly-fascinating shows last night on TV that is about hoarders, except this one is about pet hoarders. They visited a couple's house who had 24 cats. The vet who was talking to the couple and she went into the room where the catboxes were, and commented on the smell, and she had handheld meter that she set down on the floor. It measured ammonia in the air.
572651 tn?1530999357 While epilepsy is not considered a mental illness, it does have something in common with mental illnesses. That is, the meds that are prescribed are often intolerable to the patients, who are often of high intelligence and the drugs fog their brains. While they don't like their sx, the side effects of the drugs are the greater of two evils for them. Once off medication, which happens all too often, the tragedies occur, with young lives being lost far too early.
