Common Questions and Answers about Hoarders episodes

hoarders

Avatar f tn Was watching one of those sort of horridly-fascinating shows last night on TV that is about hoarders, except this one is about pet hoarders. They visited a couple's house who had 24 cats. The vet who was talking to the couple and she went into the room where the catboxes were, and commented on the smell, and she had handheld meter that she set down on the floor. It measured ammonia in the air.
Avatar f tn So.... my husband's parents are hoarders and I've never been to their house but our daughter has. She's 3 years old. We have a little boy on the way and I just don't know if I want my kids going over there especially if I'm not allowed to.. Idk how bad the situation is and I know my husband is embarrassed. I've never talked to my in laws about it. They make me uncomfortable as is. I have been distant from them for the last couple months.
662972 tn?1270166301 She has 26 animals 11 outside big unfriendly dogs that only she can interact with which is ok, 6 inside little dogs and 6 or7 inside cats now she lives in older 2 bedrroom 2 bath trailer which is fine but once you walk in door all you smell is cat pi$$ awful and her house is a plum mess something you would see on tv hoarders that bad. She loves her animals and takes care them but not house.
Avatar m tn For the last 3 years I have been experiencing what I call "episodes". When these episodes occur, it feels like I'm on a very bad drug trip. When they are severe, I can't function, and I can barely cope with anything. I have had every test imaginable, including CT scans of my brain. I was told everything was normal. The route that I was told to try was a to depressants. So, I was on Effexor, that never quite worked.
1340864 tn?1276051135 I'm Jessica! I'm a college student. I'm having these episodes. I've had seven like this in the past year. I have chest pains, heavy-chested feeling, neck pain, extreme migraines, double vision at times, and dizziness. I had a similar experince 3 years ago. It was a blackout, no hearing, bad heache, and heavy chest feeling but it passed in about 15 minutes. These current episodes can last up to a day now. I'm really worried it's nurological.
Avatar n tn I have been having some episodes. I get dizzy and the nausea kicks in then I go to the restroom (vomitting). Afterwards I'm worn out and have cold sweats. For fear of vomitting and bringing back the horrible nausea and chills I dont eat for the rest of the day only sipping sprite. I dont have health insurance currently and cant afford a trip to the doctors. I was diagnosed with anxiety attacks about a year ago, I was taking effexor 75mg.
1139187 tn?1355706647 If it wasnt for these episodes i could probably get a job and work. I am a manager-level experienced person who sits on the computer all day and reads every post known to mankind. I thought originally this was from taking thyroid but its been 7 weeks now.
Avatar f tn So I have been having somewhat frequent episodes where all the sudden I feel light headed/dizzy/close to blacking out. When it happens I feel like I'm having heart palpitations, & shortness of breath. I talked to my OB about it. When these episodes were first happening, I was standing. He said it could be from blood pooling. Makes sense except the night before my appt I had an episode while sitting down. He said maybe it was my sugar was low. I had just eaten.
Avatar f tn But me I would just go to a family members and stay there for a bit. Hoarders have a weird attachment to their items.
Avatar f tn I know exactly how you feel. The only rooms that aren't messy at my place are the bathrooms & the babys room lol! I work full time & when i get home I'm like why bother?.. Hopefully i get a day or two cleaning spurt & get it done!
Avatar f tn No groups have been suggested to me or offered. I feel out in left field all alone. Are there any hoarders in this company, and what are they doing to deal with it?
Avatar f tn I'm a 43 year old female with some major issues going on with my heart. I've always had episodes of Tachycardia since I was about 27....those stopped over the years but now they've returned out of the blue. I'm typically a nervous person who had many phobias and general anxiety until I was 30 years old. For the last 13 years, I've had a handle on that. One night about 2 months ago, I awoke to a racing heartbeat.
Avatar f tn I am a 27 year old female I hv been having episodes to where I can be doing nothing at all and my heart speeds up and feels like its pounding out of my chest My neck on the left side also tightins up to the point where I feel like im carring around weight doctors keep tellin me nothings wrong I need help. I am also pregnant so I need to know wats going on and how I can stop it.
Avatar f tn Well, the doctors shouldn't just be concluding without testing. They need to be thorough in trying to discover the cause so they can properly diagnose you & treat you. Have they checked your blood sugar level during one of these episodes to make sure it wasn't too low? I believe you can even get a blood sugar check test yourself over the counter (diabetic section).
Avatar f tn He wont or cant speak and bangs his head all the time for no reason its not to get his own way. He also has violent episodes where he will be happy playing or watching tv and then gets up and hits his brother (3) or he has started to try hitting his younger sister (5months).
Avatar f tn On several occasions lately I have had some weird episodes. I will be walking then all of a sudden it feels like pressure builds up behind my eyes and they feel like they are crossing I get dizzy and have trouble walking. When I walk my body will lean to the right side and it feels like I'm going to fall over. I have to grab items to hold myself up. When I look ahead it is almost like looking through a small tube. It will last for several minutes.
Avatar m tn s an unstable phenomenon in which you can oscillate between episodes and you may not also have them. you may be euthemic for a whole year. it occurred to me once. the worse the BP the high frequent you get (kindling). I congratulate you though. Because am only 27 and have the worst symptoms so having been BP for most of your life and are 54 is great meaning you survived a lot of episodes.
1122656 tn?1259489835 i have svt episodes triggered by smoking marijuana, tobacco, and caffine. It has been suggested that i might need a catheter ablation on my heart. this all started one day when i was smoking weed with some friends the funny thing is up until i quit i had been smoking a decent amount of weed everday for ten years. this just started out of nowhere i enjoy smoking weed, i quit ciggs also and i can deal with not smoking them.
Avatar m tn I have episodes of vomiting that has lasted about a year and a half now. I am 24 years old and I have been treated in the ER several times for dehydration because of vomiting. There is no specific pattern or trigger that I or my Doctors can pinpoint. I will wake up one morning and start throwing up stomach acid for 14 hours, not be able to keep water down and will be fine the next day.
Avatar f tn I am 25 yrs old and my "episodes" started to happen when I was pregnant 4 years ago. What happens is when I am doing something I do on a regular basis, IE vacuuming, laundry, dishes, ect. It starts as a Deja Vu feeling, but i get a tingling sensation from my stomach up, and then i get light headed, and dizzy. I have to try and think about something else to stop it, sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. When it doesnt everytime i swallow, i get intense nausea feelings.
237053 tn?1258828426 Even sooner if you distract yourself as margypops said. I have linked the episodes to work and dept store/grocery shopping (all with fluorescent lighting) as patsy had noticed as well. I have wondered if it is from the lights. As I have heard they blink very fast that the human eye doesn't notice. However I think our overloaded lyme eye and brain does and it is to much for the nervous system. The good news is it does get much better with antibiotcs.
Avatar m tn In the past year, I have had approximately four episodes that really annoy and worry me. They start with a metallic taste in my mouth, that lingers for a few mintues before dissapearing. About two-three minutes later, I completely lose my vision. To clarify the seriousness of this, I will say that I cannot read, make out people's faces, and am extremely sensitive to bright light.
Avatar f tn t have tremors like you described but my leg muscles would twitch (not jerk but small twitches) and sometimes it felt like my body was vibrating to the point where I thought we were having an earthquake. These episodes would go away and come back just like you described. This started about 5 yrs ago and then the POTS came about a year ago. I am still trying to find answers because since the POTS, my muscle pain has never gone away.
