Please re-read and concentrate on my original reply, including "...test results always overrule...symptoms." That's ALWAYS. There are no exceptions ever. It doesn't matter what symptoms you have now or may develop in the future, and no matter how typical they may seem to be for HIV or AIDS. Your test results PROVE you don't have HIV.

If such exposure could transmit the virus, HIV would not be classified as an STD or blood-borne infection; and AIDS would be a hundred times more comon than it is. Among other things, saliva normally does not contain infectious HIV. And even if visible blood were present, it would make little or no difference.

I work in a health care setting and some aids tained normal saline iv fluid spilled on my ungloved hands. Myproblem is my nail cuticles were dried and cracked. I washed my hands asap with hot water and soap then with alcohol based foam. The alcohol foam didn't burn so i'm hoping no areas were open wounds. What are the chances I have contracted aids.

HIV can't survive outside the body. Therefore you were at no risk from infection from toilet paper.

Frankly we do not care about what you find on another website. You were advised 3 month post exposure is when you can obtain a conclusive test result. Oraquick is a very reliable test taken at the correct time.

When i got home and i told her i was home, she told me through a message that she had HIV. My whole world crashed called her immediately crying as soon i saw the message. I called the emergency medical service up. Told them i can be infected with HIV, they told me go to your own doctor, you dont die throught the night and be with people which can calm you down. I went to my doctor the next day, and rang them up at the morning and told them i needed and HIV test.

HIV has been around for over 30 years and there is no reason not to know how HIV is transmitted. Did you call your doctor and ask them or did you just go and get an HIV test and put your child through unwarranted stress? Any doctor would have advised you that your son didn't have an HIV concern.

Also both parts of test said non reactive, doctor said negative, good people at aids meeds forum ******* said I do no have HIV and it is no surprise.

My dr told me that there was a guy from Kenya who was hiv positive for 5 years but tested negative.How can I be sure that I dont have the virus.Im very worried....that I might progress to the aids stage and die without anyone knowing what of because of the gestation period.I had sex with a hooker 7 months ago but i have been sick ever since.

Thanks for your comment Vance. I came out negative for herpes and hpv as well. I'm a health care professional and I deal with hiv patients regularly. We have the same symptoms. It's hard for me to believe. But thank you again for your response.

Are you talking about HIV primary infection or ARS? or are you talking about advanced HIV that progress to AIDS? Those are two very different things and in this forum is about risk assessment. If you had a risk of contracting HIV, share it.

Majority of HIV-infected people without treatment would die from AIDS in relatively short time interval (5-10 years). But only minority of HCV-infected people (probably, 20%) would die without theatment from HCV-related complications during their lifetime. Thus, HCV-infected people may remain infective during decades of all their lifetime.

s viral load been measured and do you know the result? Or his CD4 lymphocyte count? Even without this information, is your dad is ill with HIV/AIDS? Was he diagnosed because of symptoms, or as a routine screening test? These things can give clues about how infectious his blood might be. Is he part of the household, or was he just visiting your home at the time? Even without that information, I can assure you there is little or no risk of HIV transmission from the events you have described.

AIDS is a progression of HIV. You don't test for AIDS, you test for HIV. Only people who are HIV + can get a diagnosis of AIDS, which is diagnosed with very specific criteria. 3 months is conclusive, so you tested WAY beyond the window period. You don't have HIV.
