My doctor put me on a high protein diet and by the time I realized high protein wasn't for me, I'd gained an additional 15 lbs when I was already overweight from hypothyroidism... while I lost 23 lbs, when I went off the high protein diet, I'm still struggling to lose the remainder of my hypo weight. Everything must done in moderation.

Since you have diarrhea, suggest avoiding coffee, concentrated sweets, and an excess intake of fiber (nuts, seeds, whole grains, legumes, leafy greens), however, insoluble fiber is desired (oatmeal, pectin in apple, fruit). Until your diarrhea is in control, suggest not eating strawberries due to the small seeds.

5606554 tn?1372445380 m already a thin person and when I loose 2 pounds you can tell. My PA pushed the high protein low fat solution as most of mine has been muscle mass loss. Most of the above mentioned has been working for me especially the peanut butter and the protein drinks. I haven't really put any weight back on but I have stabilized somewhat by going for these things when I simply have no appetite or interest in food.

Avatar f tn What we have forgotten is that a healthy plate has two or three servings of vegetables and a small amount of other starch and a small amount of meat protein. I don't care if some of your vegetables are canned, although look for cans that are BPA free. I will send a link to an article about brands that are BPA free. Fresh vegetables are great, and frozen are fine. All offer a lot of nutrition, and raw and cooked vegetables should be the mainstay of your diet.
Avatar m tn s the medication making you not eat. You should eat foods high in protein. I would not go the protein shake route. Have you tried drinking boost or ensure shakes after eating your meals? These will help give you the vitamins and protein you need and they are not the texture of protein shakes.

Avatar m tn Eat more of green leafy vegetables, fruits and protein and less of fats, butter and potato etc. I suggest you to eat frequent small meals and eat lots of fruits and non-starchy green veggies, go slow on fats, eat carbohydrates in moderation and increase your protein intake .Get a diet chart made from a nutritionist. It did not help much and I did manage to gain a few lbs, but I strongly feel eating that way kept me from losing more weight. I to was concerned about the weigh lost but so far it has not caused any further health problems. Try to increase your calories to prevent further loss.

Fiber, as in veggies, also helps keep you fuller, but you need the protein with it.. Fats help keep you satisfied, but make sure you opt for the healthy ones, such as those found in olive oil, avocados, nuts/seeds, etc. A healthy, filling snack might be an apple with 2 tbsp peanut butter...
