The belnder drinks basically do the same job as drinks like pediasure but with a little variety (and a darn site cheaper).
Avatar f tn Hey, I don't like to cook, and was so low on caloric intake, esp. protein, I missed out on a clinical trial because they thought I had chronic anemia. My hemoglobin and bilirubin were always low. I brought the red cell count back up using chelated iron supplements. My protein intake was way below USRDA. I've found the cheapest, most efficient way is buying Premier Nutrition's Protein Bars. A 2.5 ounce bar gives you 30 grams of protein.
315996 tn?1429057829 I guess I will back off the protein powder but now I'm wondering about stuff like fat free yogurt and milk and cottage cheese and beans. Kinda worried because of the importance of protein in the building blocks of our systems. I hate long posts but I guess I just made one!!!
Avatar f tn In the early stages of your withdrawal, you might not be up for eating solid foods, so many people choose to drink Ensure protein drinks instead, as meal substitutes. A diet high in protein is essential for detoxing. Red meats, while high in protein, should be avoided during the early stages of your withdrawal, because they contain components which heighten pain and inflammation. Proteins are the building blocks for every neurotransmitter and enzyme in your body!
Avatar n tn The most important things is that you are eating a well balanced diet with a good combination of whole grains, fruits, veggies, and high protein foods. I'm not sure if you have m/s yet, but don't be surprised if your good eating plans go straight out the window for a while. I'm a vegetarian and used to eating a lot of veggies. I went for about 5 weeks without eating any though. I just couldn't do it though.
Avatar m tn 3. Light and Easy Meals - Eat light, low-fat, high-protein meals, such as griddle or grilled chicken or fish with a baked potato and green salad or steamed vegetables. Sandwiches or a soft tortilla with tuna, chicken, hummus or guacamole filling, served with carrot, pepper and celery crudités are also great options. So are sardines on wholemeal toast. 4. Fish - Fish is great for stress. Try serving it with buckwheat noodles and sprinkled with some sesame seeds.
Avatar n tn MSG is a vasodilator and it will dilate your blood vessels, increasing your blood flow and heart rate. For most people with PVC, this can trigger tachycardia (a fast heart rate) and PVCs. Reduce stress: We all have stress and it can't always be avoided. So, find a hobby your enjoy, exercise regularly, get weekly massages, acupuncture, read.... Do whatever helps you relax and off-set the physical effects of stress. Avoid caffeine: This isn't true for everyone, but it is true for me.
Avatar n tn The dark cola drinks also need to be avoided as they are rich in phosphorus which tends to accumulate. Foods that are high in protein are meat, poultry (chicken), fish, eggs, and dairy products (milk, cheese, yogurt) should be taken in lesser amounts as they are to be excreted by kidneys and hence increase the renal workload. There’s no drug to decrease creatinine levels but the only way is to find out the underlying cause of the deranged kidney function and rectify the same.
Avatar f tn It's one of my favorite postexercise recovery drinks because it contains whey protein, which helps muscles recover and repair Plus, it tastes great while boosting calcium and vitamin D, which research shows is important for preserving cartilage and joint health. Avatar n tn Avoid sugary stuff(desserts, sodas, sports drinks) and starchy stuff (white bread, potatoes, white rice). Soup is also a good idea. Even if it's processed, it's quick, filling and has relatively few calories. If you have a microwave in your room, that can be a great help. (Do they allow those in dorms these days?) Would also suggest some of the Atkins foods which have a good amount of protein - shakes make a good quick breakfast, and the bars are great for backbacks.
Avatar m tn Cereal, the serving size that fits in most bowls, you could be eating the equivalent of 4 to 5 slices of white bread. Whey Protein and Other Animal-Based Protein Powders, whey protein isolate, for example, is highly acid forming I personally suggest to use the isolate but to use concentrate! Whey protein concentrate, NOT protein isolates Protein isolates are proteins stripped away from their nutritional cofactors. There are three problems with that...
Avatar f tn 1/4 cup has 30 calories, no fat, no cholesterol and 6g of protein (I usually have 1/2 cup so that doubles the protein and still is only 60 calories) Nuts, beans and other legumes are very high in protein and has the benefit of high fiber content too. Nuts and beans are very good for you and very filling so they should be a staple in your diet if they arent already. Peanut and other nut butters are also good sources of protein.
Avatar n tn I found fresh papaya really helped my digestive enzymes. Later on in treatment, as I had some GI issues, I cut out sugar and processed foods which helped. Avoid fried foods and large quantities of red meat. Grab some herbal teas which can be soothing to the stomach or for relaxation / sleep. See how you feel and what you want - it is likely to change so stocking up now, you may wind up with a lot you don't use.
Avatar f tn Bean and lentils Nuts, almonds and sunflower seeds Fruit (not including dried fruit) Chocolate with a high cocoa quantity (65 to 90%) Sausages can be eaten occasionally but can include undesirable additives. Alcohol can be included with the note that it is fattening and can lead to imbalances in blood sugar. What should be avoided on the diet?

Avatar m tn Cheese is one of the foods highest in saturated fat, which can lead to arterial blockage. And when it comes to both milk and cheese, cows are often fed artificial hormones that have been shown to cause endocrine disruption. In a University of Rochester study published in the journal Human Reproduction, men who consumed more dairy products had “significantly” less motile sperm than those who consumed less. Refined carbs and cheese, pizza is double trouble for your erection.
