Common Questions and Answers about Heartburn foods garlic

heartburn

Avatar f tn I had really bad heartburn but nowadays I tend not to eat foods which increase my acid ( no tomatoes, no garlic, no onions, nothing with lemon or anything that's sour ). I also sleep halfway upright (45 degrees ) with loads of pillows under my shoulders and that made a big difference for me. If all fails I take Gaviscon. You can buy that from any pharmacy or supermarket. You don't need prescription and it's safe in pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Avoiding certain foods is the best way. No greasy, sugary, onion, garlic, tomato, citrus or spicy. Other than that its still preventative to take an acid blocker prescribed by the doctor. Tums works for very mild heartburn after very bland food.
Avatar m tn What happened to make your GERD/LPR subside? Perhaps PPI's, raising the head of your bed? Obviously eliminating 'trigger foods'. You might mix in garlic, onions, etc. a little at a time, one food item at a time, keep a log and see what works and what doesn't work. A discussion with a diet expert might help. Most larger hospitals have free or inexpensive workshops to discuss just your type of question, as do most larger medical clinics.
Avatar f tn I get terrible heartburn at night.. Keeps us both up for hours. It was so bad one night I cried myself to sleep.. Anyone else going thru it..
Avatar f tn I would say watch what you eat. No citrus, tomatoes, greasy, sugary, garlic or onions. I would take tums because I still need it even avoiding those foods, but that's the only way I can get heartburn to be mild enough for tums to work. Ask your Dr before taking anything except what they have approved for you.
Avatar f tn tomatoes, vinegary foods, acidic foods. Yes the green peppers would do it. I have reflux disease, so more than acid effects me. But I know what causes the heartburn.
Avatar m tn Clothes that fit tightly around your waist put pressure on your abdomen and the lower esophageal sphincter. Avoid foods that trigger heartburn. Everyone has specific triggers. Common triggers such as fatty or fried foods, alcohol, chocolate, mint, garlic, onion and caffeine may make heartburn worse. Don't lie down after a meal. Wait at least two to three hours after eating before lying down or going to bed. Elevate the head of your bed.
Avatar f tn Avoid greasy foods, tomatoes, onions, garlic, citrus, and spicy. Dr might put you on an acid blocker but most drs prefer tums because it is milder. Don't eat for a few hours before bed. Water and liquids make acid reflux have more fluid and may not relieve it. Sugar has also been something that gives me a bad reaction.
Avatar m tn / and living in south Texas we have some awesome Mexican food places here :(
Avatar f tn IM 28weeks+2 , and I'm wondering if its okay to eat spicy foods, I don't get heartburn or anything like that, would that be the only concern?
1094370 tn?1317134825 The best way to figure out for sure is to use the information you have from the allergist and stay away from garlic and onions both for several weeks. Then go back to eating one meal with the garlic in it. Do go on an elimination diet first, though, for about six weeks. In your case you will have to eliminate garlic and onions through the elimination diet phase meant to bring the body to a more neutral state before challenging the food in question.
Avatar m tn I HAVE A LONG HISTORY OF INDIGESTION. SPECIFICALLY IT IS MORE TO MAJOR MEALS & SLIGHTLY FATTY FOODS. MY ENDOSCOPY REPORT REVEALED "GERD", BUT I HAVE NEVER FELT HEARTBURN OR SEVERE ACID REFLUX. ONLY SYMPTOM IS INDIGESTION, TIME TAKEN EMPTY MY STOMACH IS ABOUT 7 TO 8 HRS OR MORE IF I HAD TAKEN NONVEG.
3127682 tn?1345498552 You can eat spicy foods. I eat them all the time it's just the heartburn that kills me lol.
Avatar n tn It all depends on the severity of the situation and how well the medication is working, in addition to your diet. If you make sure to avoid any acidic foods (citrus & berry juices and fruits, garlic, coffee, carbonated drinks), as well as taking your medication as directed, you may be looking at at 6 week recovery time. Of course, only your doctor can determine whether this is sufficient. Was there any reason given for the gastritis?
Avatar f tn I heard that Fish oil and Garlic pills are good for your heart. On some of the website for fish oil they mention a possible reaction with diuretics... can I take both Fish oil and garlic to help my heart naturally along with all my previous and new medications? Thanks!
