I had a gum infection about a month ago and the dentist put me on antibiotics and i took the full course. I thought that had got rid of the infection because i didn't have the vile taste in my mouth that i had.

She has x-rayed the tooth (it had a root canal years ago) and says that the root canal is intact, and that the infection is in a pocket between the tooth and the gum. She advised increased dental hygiene in order to shift the infection, and said that there was nothing else she could do beyond extracting the tooth. Since then I have been beyond meticulous in trying to keep my teeth clean.

Don't worry about what other people say, just do your best. Everyone in my family smoked while pregnant, my husband's family too. I am on #5 and I could never quit. I'd cut down a little but not much. My kiddos are all the picture of health. I never had any issues. If you put to much pressure on your self you'll give up. And anyone who tries to make you feel guilty doesn't understand people can't be guilted into change.
My dentist prescribed me 500 mg of amoxicillin every 6 hours for a gum infection. It's been a few days now and Ifeel better and I want to resume my workout schedule. Is strenuous exercise contraindicated when taking amoxicillin?Also, is sun exposure a factor, and if so, how long after you complete the round of antibiotics should you wait before you are able to go back out in the sun?
Joy - The same exact thing happened to me when I found out I was pregnant. And it turns out the EXTREME pain I was having was because teeth are so much more sensitive in pregnancy than when not pregnant. The pain wouldn't have been as bad as it was if I wasn't pregnant. My doctor said NO on getting it out because they give you a novicane injection and it can cause problems for the baby, only general pain medications are allowable by dentists.
m allergic to acetmenaphin(tylenol) which is supposedly the only thing I can take while pregnant. My doctor refuses to write me prescriptions for anything else and tells me to deal with it and there's nothing else like aspirin that I can take. She's very rude. My sister had a baby about a year ago, she's allergic to tylenol as well and her doctor told her other medicines she can take that wouldn't be harmful to the child. She can't remember what they are tho.
Interesting that you had a test for Ureaplasma; most STD experts recommend against such testing, since Ureaplasma is generally considered a normal bacteria in the genital tract and most experts are not certain it ever causes disease. We never test for it in my STD clinic. However, this is a somewhat controversial area. In any case, since your test became negative after treatment, I see no reason for continued concern about it.
It's SO hard to quit smoking! I quit two years ago when we started TTC by using nicotine patches, and I still have times when I REALLY crave a smoke. Cutting down is great, you can also talk to your doctor about nicotine replacement, some will prescribe you gum or 16 hour patches while you're pregnant. Don't beat yourself up about not being able to kick the habit completely.

( I hate having this taste everyday especially every morning when I wake up!!! I tried a lil bit of everything nd it doesn't help at all. Not even brushing my teeth everyday. I feel so sad that I can't enjoy my food anymore :( Is There anything I can do to deal with the bad taste????!! :/ who has the same problem ???
