Robitussin is only a specific brand and any expectorant that contains guaifenesin as the only active ingredient can be used in its place. Generic versions are most likely available as well. Be sure to carefully inspect the ingredients list to make sure the ONLY active ingredient as guaifenesin. Any other ingredients can diminish the effect you are looking for.

I don't think I'll ever know for sure whether I have Lyme or not! I have been working with a Lyme literate doctor at the Breakspear clinic just north of London, this is where I got the Igenex testing done. Unfortunately her services are very expensive and I very much doubt there are any Lyme doctors on the NHS. I will be seeking her advice again on Tuesday now that the results are back.

In that case you need a mucus thinner/expectorant. Buy an over-the-counter preparation that has guaifenesin, preferably only guaifenesin. Take a tablet and drink a full glass of water. It helps greatly. In fact the worst episodes I have with asthma involve serious congestion.
You can also start using natural anti-inflammatories. These help greatly and thee are no side effects. As to diet, be very careful about sweets and too much starch. These cause a proliferation of Candida albicans.
Guaifenesin, how much is an Overdose? My daughter 11 years old 100 lbs (big for her age), took (the correct dose) 5mL cough and cold medicine that had the following in that dose. Guaifenesin, USP 100 mg, Dextromethorpan HBr, USP 10 mL. Phenylephedrine HCI, USB 5mg. But then she also took (the correct dose) 10 mg of a prescription medicine Guaifenesin-Codeine syrup (generic for Robitussin AC syrup). It doesn't state on the label the quantity of Guaifenesin mg in the 5mL dose.
One side effect of Mucolytics is bronchospasm and is therefore contraindicated for asthma patients. The alternative is guaifenesin, which you can buy over-the-counter. Mucinex contains guaifenesin, but I would get the plain guaifenesin. It works very well.

yes, well sort of. It's Guaifenesin an ingredient found in cough meds. You can usually find a store brand of robitussin that has only Guaifenesin in it. The ingredient is made to break up mucus, but if taken while you ovulate it can make your CM more compatible with sperm.
Monday I went to the doctor and found out I had Bronchitis, my doctor guve me some antibotics and Cheratussin AC Syp Graifensin and Codeiene for a BAD cough. I took the cough 1 teas. before bed only for three nights (Mon. Tues. and Wed) and stopped. It didn't seem to help me. Friday I was called in to take a drug test and failed. HOW LONG DOES IT STAY IN YOUR SYSTEM BEFORE YOU CAN RETEST?
Who else had taken this med for cough? Is it safe? Pls let me know.
