Avatar f tn Untreated hyperthyroidism (Graves disease) can cause heart damage due to the fast heart rate leading to heart failure. Aortic stenosis is a narrowing of the valve opening and the gateway of blood pumped from the left ventricle into circulation. When narrow the left ventricle has increased pressure and there is chamber remodeling. The remodeling can effect the valve opening as a result the left ventricle dilates. I had a dilated left ventricle 7 years ago and congested heart failure.
Avatar f tn rapid heart beat, weight loss, shakey hands, anxiety attacks and a few more. I saw my gp first and he sent me to an endo to do further testing when my tsh came back at .10. He could only tell me I was hyper at that point and the endo did the other tests. According to my surgeon, a goiter only means that the thyroid is enlarged...it can be all over or just one side. Mine was all over. I didnt think I had a goiter, but he corrected me. If you have Graves, did your gp dispense medicine for you?
Avatar n tn Graves is an autoimmune disease and unfortunately for life. Controlling whether they raise or suppress is key to beating the symptoms of the disease. If you are on Levo now - your labs must be abnormal and now lean towards hypoT levels. You would feel like cr@p right now with the swinging patterns you have been on. "Once Graves.... always Graves" is the saying here. But I am positive your endo or ???
Avatar f tn Is drinking alchol really dangerous with Graves Disease? Would I ever be able to drink?
Avatar f tn Did I develop neutropenia from the Graves disease and how do I stop the neutropenia from getting worse? Also, what are some things that I should avoid as a result of my neutropenia? In addition, my heart rate ranges from 120-140 and I feel very tired and confused. Are these feelings a result of my heart rate? Thank you in advance.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed in April 2011 with Hashimoto's (the dx came after several different rounds of bloodwork, a thyroid ultrasound and the nuclear uptake scan.) I was prescribed synthroid and was told "we'd have to wait and see" how my symptoms responded to the meds. I would go for labwork every 6-8 weeks and each time, either I had to increase or decrease my synthroid dosage.
Avatar f tn I was disgnosed with Graves when I was 14 years old and I am now 20 years old. I had general symptoms of Graves disease such as; Heart palpatations, goiter, tremors, weight loss, and sweats of my hands. I was first put on Atentol for my heart and Methmazole twice daily for my thyroid. Within a month I was off of my heart medicine and was still on Methmazole twice daily. Then probably within 3 months I was down to the dose which I still take today, one 10mg tablet of Methmazole at bedtime.
Avatar f tn hi i'm a 28 yr old woman and have suffered badly with symptoms from graves disease for 3yrs i've been on propylthiouracil for a year now as i had a severe allergic reaction to carbimazole! my symptoms include insomnia, severe fatigue, anxiety, bouts of depression, poor concentration, memory loss, bruising easily, dizziness, nausea and graves rage and weakened immune system (sick often). the problem is that i've recently had a blood test that read normal at 5.
Avatar f tn I have an appt on feb 19th,since I have been on the tapizole my pulse has been down, and my symptoms seemed under control.lately my symptoms have worsned although I take my meds everyday on time,my panic attacks have increased,I have been having muscle aches, headaches, sinus problems, sore throats occasionally.also my goiter seems to getting wider and smaller, and my eyes are always dry and they don't close all the way at night, and chest pains at times.
Avatar n tn My interenist suspected Graves, ergo the reason for the tests. My concern is that I have some of the classic symptoms of Graves, but my test results show me to be in the normal range. I'm wondering if others have had their values fall in the normal range but second level testing (e.g., radioactive iodine test) revealed a problem.
Avatar f tn I am a 25 y/o female diagnosed with hyperthyroidism at 16 and later with Graves Disease and Goiter. I have been on Tapazol along with Atenelol (for the Tachacardia) off and on for the past 9 years with no results. Every doc I see wants to discuss nothing but RAI or surgery. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for a few years with no success. I finally found out that I was pregnant the beginning of last year and made it to 4 months and suffered a miscarriage for no apparent reason.
110220 tn?1309306861 I was recently diagnosed with Graves Disease. No one in my immediate family has had thyroid issues. I have experienced a tremendous amount of stress over the last year. I have read that stress could be a factor with hyperthyroid. While I wasn't thrilled when I learned of my disorder, I was relieved to know that I wasn't going crazy or I wasn't about to die. My resting heart rate 115, I couldn't write, I was nervous and jittery 24 hours a day.
687079 tn?1230948612 can graves disease present as hypothyroid or even euthyroid? asking because i have the eye symptoms and am not responding well at all to my thyroid replacement even a little and i feel extremely hyper, but my endo wont test me because she says graves can only be hyper and thats it....
1428646 tn?1330978063 graves disease will attack and organ. the first time I had graves disease it was attacking my heart making my heart beat faster. I was on medication for about 2 years. then it went into remission now it is back. graves disease could attack any organ , graves disease is your immune system attacks your organs not virus or bacteria.
Avatar n tn I have had steroids for my eyes and and tapazole nothing has worked. I have toxic nodoles along with Graves disease. I have changed my diet and tried different things what do you suggest. I'm not sleeping, I have gained most of my weight back with increased heart beat. What can I do.
1314073 tn?1282841674 I was just diagnosed with Graves Disease. I've been doing reasearch on the Internet and now I am TERRIFIED! Are my eyes going to bulge and my hair fall out? Does this happen to everyone with Graves Disease. I know this sounds vain, but fear is fear and this is all I can think about. Thanks for any help you can give me.
1354275 tn?1277123508 I have Graves Disease and was recently reduced from 20mg a day of Neo-mercazole to 5mg. I was told to stop taking it for 2-days and to start back on 5mg a day. Apparently my blood test results were just below normal. Is this unusually low for a dosage. The reason I ask is because I'm having heart palpitations, anxiety, tremors and I'm feeling weak and exhausted all over again. I was feeling great on the 20mg and now I feel terrible.
Avatar f tn i have my bloods checked every 3 months, and now been told my levels are normal so going to stop my meds and see how i go.. my symptoms are heart palps, very sore legs, (which i was told was down to the graves but now told its not), mood swings, a tremor cold hands and feet, others that i just cant think of at present as my heads bursting thinking im going of my head as last doc (id never seen before) told me i must be imagining the palpatations as my heart rate is slow.
Avatar f tn I have seen endocrinologist. He advises symptoms are not Graves disease as my levels are now in normal range. I am fortunate that I have a caring family doctor that is persistent. I have seen a neurologist and next having ultrasound and seeing a internist. Couple of facts. Initially in July when diagnosed I had slight tremors once on thyroid med/tapolzole the shaking got worst and I ended up in the hospital. The endocrinologist said it was Graves/my symptoms.
Avatar n tn iam apatient who suffers graves disease. My question is : Although I am almost 4 months on Carbamizole treatment 60 mg + Taking inderal ( propanalol), but the levels of my T4 & T3 are still high and the levels of TSH is less than 0.01. what do you think , should i sstop the medication and think of the other allternatives like the radioactive iodine or surgical removal?
Avatar f tn I had to be hospitalized for two weeks each time. For me my symptoms were, rapid heart rate, insomnia, blood surgar levels real high, high potassium, muscle cramps, eyes bulging, fever, diaherra, sweats. Once my I had my TT I still hit another storm, but after that my body settled down & never had them again.
Avatar n tn s disease, then still not feeling well, and finally diagnosed with graves disease and vitamin D deficiency. Then came Graves eye disease, not severe and under control. So yes have levels checked, I had only TSH checked in Feb of last year, and it came back in normal range, when i had my physical my tsh was 0.00 so they tested T3 and T4 and they were not normal. Good luck, it is a slow process, and i get depressed about it often, it is not a disease with an easy cure, it is a long battle.
