Avatar f tn Stopped PTU and re-introduced tapazole one week later (about three weeks ago). After a few days on tapazole, I started showing allergy sx once again and the rash started to come back (not as bad as before). Stopped tapazole for three days last week, felt better and improved. Re-introduced it again last Friday, just to experience the same sx three days later. I was taken off the tapazole on Monday and have significantly improved.
Avatar m tn 8 weeks later she said I am in remission and reduced the Tapazole to 5 mg. Hair is falling out like crazy and having a little bit of heat intolerance. Here are my 1st and last labs. Could I be not getting enough meds? Should I increase Tapazole to 10mg. (I felt best at this dosage? HELP! 1st labs: TSH-0.003, T4-Free (direct) 3.98 and last labs were: TSH 1.070 and T4-Free (direct) 1.06, T3 119 (also had a TSH reading of 1.670 in between 1st and last labs T4 Free direc t0f 0.
415642 tn?1207784582 hey Jen, are you on Tapazole or generic Tap? Are you on a beta blocker too? Yes headache can be a symptom of Graves. How long have you been on the meds? It can take about 3 weeks to kick in( Tap) I'm not on beta blockers so I don't know about those. Your heart rate is still too high. Is this at rest? The doc (Dr. Lupo) might have an answer for you.
Avatar f tn Has anyone diagnosed with Graves disease had a successful remission without surgery? If yes, how long did it take and how did you know you were back to normal? I am debating the surgery vs long term use of thryoid suppressants.
Avatar f tn my son was a newly diagnosed "graves disease" pt. he was given tatazole tablet 5mg. to be taken after breakfast for one month, what are the side effect of tatazole, the things he have to avoid and if you can give me more/additional information about the disease. thanks!
Avatar m tn My question is how can I continue to reduce my anti TPO levels since this is still indicative of an anti immune process? Is there anything else I can do to increase my chances of staying in remission from Graves? I do not want to do the radioactive iodine treatment since it would not be addressing the anti immune problem so I will go back on Tapazole if I have to. However, any help that I can give through diet and/or supplements or any other ideas would be very welcomed. Thank you.
Avatar m tn Hi Benny, I posted before that I have been treated twice for my Graves disease, Both times with PTU and then I went into remission for the first time it was for 12 years. I am in my middle fifties considered very active and feisty. When my thyroid is balanced I can walk/jog 5 miles, play 18 holes of golf and clean house ALL IN ONE DAY. When it is off my heart will pound out of my chest just walking to the mail box. Plus I am always on edge then.
536139 tn?1273185952 I was diagnosed with Graves Disease summer of 2007 after Endo ordered Thyroid scan/uptake test and symptoms .of TSH level 0.01, tachycardia, tremors, insomnia, weakness in legs, heat intolerance and I live in the desert 110+ degrees in the summer. Prescribed Tapazole which caused skin rash, temporary problems w/ my liver and had to see digestive specialist. Since Tapazole was out Endo started pushing RAI but I refused. Have you looked at the side effects of RAI?
1518151 tn?1320448947 With a TSI of 97% you have graves, but since it's under the ref range you are considered to be in the inactive stages. When mine was 99% I was symptom free except for my eyes hurting here and there, and my labs were normal except a borderline low TSH. Everyone is different. Some graves patients have symptoms when their TSI is 60%.
Avatar m tn ve decided to go get a blood test and turns out I have Graves diseases. I went to the Endo and he prescribed 20 mg of TAPAZOLE daily and ATENOL to lower my blood pressure. I will have to go back for blood work in 3 weeks. Can anyone tell me if I am on treatment, down the road will I still get Bulging eyes? Also what should i look out for to get myself into remission faster?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with Graves disease about 10 years ago. I was severely hyperthyroid (TSH undetectable and high FT3 & FT4) with active antibodies (TPO and TSI). I decided to take an anti-thriroid med rather than burning my thyroid with RAI. Few years later, I went hypo, and was put on synthroid. This lasted a couple of years, and then I went hyper again. After this, my thyroid went "normal," and I thought I'd had achieved remission.
1674106 tn?1403379490 Conventional treatment options for Graves' disease include: * Anti-thyroid medication (first choice for treatment in uncomplicated Graves' disease): Methimazole (Tapazole) Propylthiouracil (PTU) Carbimazole (Neomercazole) - not available in the US Anti-thyroid medications decrease the level of thyroid hormones thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). The goal with anti-thyroid drug treatment is to decrease the thyroid antibodies and induce remission.
Avatar f tn I have graves disease (TSI 60). I am on 2.5mg of tapazole. My thyroid tests are tsh 2.5 t4 10 and t3 3.7 Clearly t3 and 4 are at low end. My eyes feel dry. My doctor wants.me on the tapazole because of my high TSI. My TSI was 12 until I went hypo a few weeks ago. Now it is 60. Do.you think I should be off tapazole? Will my t4 go up if I. Off tapazole? I don't feel great.
Avatar f tn You have Graves Disease, so they give you Tapazole... are they giving you high enough doses of the tapazole to make you go hypo or are you swinging hypo? On what basis were you diagnosed with Graves Disease?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with Graves disease about two months ago. My question is about Tapazole. My first blood test was done in February, it showed 0.03 TSH and 24 Free T4. I started to take Tapazole in March - 10 mg a day. The result of my last blood test is 11 Free T4 and high TSH 6.16. I am supposed to keep taking Tapazole for another month. I am puzzled why I should keep increasing TSH when it is already high.
Avatar f tn I'm new to this site and it was nice to find it I am still trying to understand Hyperthyroidism and Graves' Disease. I was hoping someone can tell me if I am suffering from hyperthyroidism or Graves' Disease. On 8/17/07 my test results were TSH <0.01,T4Free 2.75, TPO AB 66. I also had a RUI-U I don't remember the results, but it was elevated and I think they said it was hot. My other blood work was on 10/29/07 TSH 2.74,T4Free 0.47,12/24/07 TSH 0.04,T4Free 1.
8437409 tn?1403677096 Initially when I was diagnosed 9 years ago I had gone thru 6 months of diarrhea after having my first born son and went from 160 to 118 lbs. I was diagnosed hyperthyroid and graves disease. I was the worst case that had ever seen and TSH was 0.. to sure on others.
Avatar m tn but doc said its not a for sure test im confused is there a test that can tell absolutely if you have graves disease or is it like other disease that they dont really have a test for and the diagnoses is from symptoms ? this just ***** soo bad on one hand im convinced i felt better before i started taking the tapazole but then on the other i know that i was ill before as well because i was not feeling well and having issues thats what brought me to get the blood test in the first place .
Avatar f tn You tested positive for TSI which is a graves disease marker, which is the cause of you being hyper. Have they put you on meds yet? The doc will most likely tell you taht you don't have graves b/c your TSI is only 49. The ref range is usually 0-124. This ref range is merely an indicator of where you are at in the disease process.
Avatar m tn My endo just increased my Tapazole to 40mg once a day. I was taken 10mg 3x a day. I probably going to seek a second opion in the next week.
Avatar f tn I have been recently diagnosed with Grave's disease and have been taking tapazole for a few weeks. My TSI level was a little over 500. As I believe it is a somewhat expensive test, I am wondering how often is reasonable to ask my doctor to have it checked?
Avatar n tn iam apatient who suffers graves disease. My question is : Although I am almost 4 months on Carbamizole treatment 60 mg + Taking inderal ( propanalol), but the levels of my T4 & T3 are still high and the levels of TSH is less than 0.01. what do you think , should i sstop the medication and think of the other allternatives like the radioactive iodine or surgical removal?
579324 tn?1276054274 5 mg of methimazole (tapazole) to keep my hyperactive thyroid (now in remission) and graves disease (very slight now) in control. i'm thinking about buying some otc stuff to see if that works. anyone have any ideas on what it could be? i do listen to loud loud music when at my cardio kickboxing class, however, i am away now and haven't been there since may 10, and i still have the ringing or noise, like a sharp tuning fork noise or the noise from a hearing test.
