Avatar f tn Check with your doctor as well, I wish I knew if you could take them when you're pregnant.
Avatar n tn Have been combing the sites to find where I fit in. Have Graves Disease. Had RAI nearly 6 wks. ago. It has been complicated by several gallbladder attacks. Can't get gallbladder removed until thyriod levels come down. Endo put me on PTU. He doubles my dose from 300mg to 600mg after two weeks. With each blood test my levels kept rising. One test showed my WBC to be very low. So Edno takes me off PTU completely.
Avatar n tn Elevated TPOab is, typically, a basis for a diagnosis of Hashimoto's, which IS a thyroid disease and can be present for many years without symptoms, though many/most people aren't ever tested for it until they have symptoms of the resulting hypothyroidism. Slightly elevated TPOab can also be present with Graves Disease, which is another thyroid disease, and there are those, that have both Hashi's and Graves.
Avatar f tn Graves Disease is an Autoimmune Disease and usually when one autoimmune disease is found, there is usually a 2nd one found (this one being Diabetes). The Graves and Hyperthyroidism can be treated by either anti-thyroid meds or pernmanant treatment which will eventually stablaise the Diabetes although this is extremely hard if the Diabetes has been undetected for a long time. And something to watch for is ...Metformin can interefer with thyroid medications.

I was on medication for about 2 years. then it went into remission now it is back. graves disease could attack any organ , graves disease is your immune system attacks your organs not virus or bacteria.
Avatar n tn Graves is an autoimmune disease and unfortunately for life. Controlling whether they raise or suppress is key to beating the symptoms of the disease. If you are on Levo now - your labs must be abnormal and now lean towards hypoT levels. You would feel like cr@p right now with the swinging patterns you have been on. "Once Graves.... always Graves" is the saying here. But I am positive your endo or ???
Avatar n tn "The "Ask a Doctor" forum has been shut down since June 2014; MedHelp has not indicated whether or not they plan to reactivate it." - Wikipedia. Excerpt from Hashimoto's thyroiditis following Graves' disease. Acta Med Indones. 2010 Jan;42(1):31-5.... "Pathogenesis for chronic thyroiditis following anti-thyroid drug treatment in patients with Graves' disease remains unclear.
Avatar f tn Have you been tested for thyroid antibodies to make sure you do, in fact, have Graves disease and are not simply in a hyper phase of Hashimoto's? Both Graves and Hashimoto's are autoimmune. While Graves is always connected with hyperthyroidism, Hashimoto's is most often connected with hypothyroidism, however it's not uncommon for one to have periods of hyperthyroidism in the beginning stages. You should ask for thyroid antibody tests.
Avatar n tn s disease, then still not feeling well, and finally diagnosed with graves disease and vitamin D deficiency. Then came Graves eye disease, not severe and under control. So yes have levels checked, I had only TSH checked in Feb of last year, and it came back in normal range, when i had my physical my tsh was 0.00 so they tested T3 and T4 and they were not normal. Good luck, it is a slow process, and i get depressed about it often, it is not a disease with an easy cure, it is a long battle.
Avatar f tn 339-50.
Avatar n tn s an autoimmune disease that unfortunately always plagues you in one shape or another even after the radiated iodine treatment. Since thyroid disease runs in my family, and I have borderline hyperthyroid tendencies, I always keep an eye on the thyroid board on MedHelp. The folks there are very knowledgeable. You may want to pop in there for some advice as well. Both diseases (FM and Graves symptoms overlap) Make sure you stop back in both places. Take care.
Avatar n tn Hello. I'm 36 and I am almost 9 weeks pregnant. I have Graves' disease and had radiation treatment back in 2009. I hadn't been taking my thyroxine constantly for a few months as I was super stressed and now that I am pregnant haven't missed a dose. My thyroid levels are still very high and I'm worried that this will affect my baby's brain development/IQ levels. Has anyone else had similar experiences? I'm scared and worried.
Avatar f tn d with Graves in March 2006. I have been on MMI(methimazole) for 2.8 yrs. I started off on 30 mgs. and went very very hypo right away. I have gained 38 pounds in 2.8 years and feel dreadful. When dx'd my TSI was 243 <129. My FT4 for was 1.86(.8-1.85) and FT3 was 2.60 <2.00. I really never had very high FT's. They have always stayed low but my TSH has been low forever. I think I have many blocking antibodies because of my TBII is 31% <16%.
Avatar f tn No - I doun't feel it is necessary to go to a motel and consider that in depth. The cleaning staff will not clean appropriately becuase they do not know what you've been through and contimanation is an issue to others. You have the control to take care of everything in your enviroment without putting others in jepordy that have no clue what's just transipred. Consider that before making your final decision.
Avatar f tn I really thought I was losing my mind, I have had this for about 4 yrs and just now was diagnosed with Graves disease. My Dr put me on Methimazole and after 3 weeks had a severe reaction and was covered head to toe with a horrible insanely itchy rash. Mr Endo told me I have a couple options radio active iodine or somthing else which he did not tell me what. My question is how has the radio active iodine worked for others?
Avatar f tn Looks like Graves' disease based on the significant elevation in T3 however to confirm this a TSI blood test or I-123 nuclear uptake would be required.
1314073 tn?1282841674 I was just diagnosed with Graves Disease. I've been doing reasearch on the Internet and now I am TERRIFIED! Are my eyes going to bulge and my hair fall out? Does this happen to everyone with Graves Disease. I know this sounds vain, but fear is fear and this is all I can think about. Thanks for any help you can give me.
