glucotrol

Avatar m tn I am 67 years old male of good health . I have type 2 diabitis, Hepertension . Both are under total control with medications (Glucotrol XL 10 mg and Metformin 1000 mg 2 times daily, Also Benicar 10 mg and duriatic pill 25 mg ) I never dink nor smoke and I have no evident health problems .
Avatar n tn but you must make sure it is the generic for toprol xl because there is metoprolol succinate which is the generic for toprol xl and metoprolol tartrate which is the generic for lopressor. They both work in two different ways so they can not be interchanged at the same dose. I asked this question before toprol xl became a generic.
Avatar n tn Many patients also reported a loss of antidepressive effect. Patients who thereafter switched back to Wellbutrin XL or an alternative generic (such as Bupropion XL manufactured by Watson Pharmaceuticals) saw a return of the antidepressive effect and lessening of side effects.
Avatar f tn My pharmacacy switched my "Toprol XL 50 mg" to a Generic one called "Metoprolol Succinate ER 50 mg" (manufactured by Sandoz) in December 2007. I have been on some form of Beta Blockers for years and I thought nothing of it. Within a week I was at my eye doctor because my left eye went from 20/20 to 20/60 and was so blurry that I felt like I had suntan lotion or something in it. Since then I have been to so many doctors because things just kept getting worse.
214864 tn?1229715239 FDA Finds Fault with Generic Toprol XL -- Problems Reported Earlier by ConsumerLab.com (Date Posted: 8/28/2008) On August 12, 2008, the U.S. FDA sent a letter to Sandoz Inc. warning of violations in its manufacture of Metoprolol Succinate ER tablets and other drug products. Sandoz's Metoprolol Succinate ER tablets are generic versions of Toprol XL. In March 2008, ConsumerLab.com reported on consumer complaints with Sandoz's Metoprolol Succinate ER. As described in the ConsumerLab.
Avatar n tn Many people report an increase in heart palpitations after switching from Toprol XL to its generic version, Metoprolol. My guess is that the generic version is ****, which is the case with many generics, despite what the FDA tells consumers.
Avatar f tn The problem is that if you do a google search for just about anything, you can find. Almost all my patients are on generic medications including generic toprol xl. There are some medications that have a recognized difference between brand name and generic, and there are some brand name drugs that do not have generics because they were too difficult to produce. The medication will be out of your system in less than 5 days. As far as lasting effects, it is difficult to say.
Avatar m tn TEVA is currently under its second investigation by the FDA after reports of their generic for Wellbutrin XL "not working properly." I didn't know Effexor had a generic already. I was taking this until December 2009, and I was getting the brand name only- for 37.5, 75, and 150 mg capsules. You really would have to try both to see if one truly works best for you.
Avatar m tn I'm just asking this question as an addition to the previous question as i'm quite curious as to others past experiences as i'm up to max dose with the generic form, along with mirtazapine 45mg, but I still quite flat in mood, with little spontaniety and miss my normal self 'Zip' as otherwise I feel that it largely is working to a certain extent, but i'm still wanting more.
Avatar n tn Can you please tell me if Wellbutrin XL will help with anxiety issues. Or can the medication Cymbalta be of better use?
656309 tn?1224489859 Whata does your doctor say? Could it be that your dose has doubled, and that's the culprit? I take Wellbutrin XL (generic version). I just started taking it. I take 150 mg in the morning. I think the XL means it's timed released. I would check with your doctor. Good luck. Please keep me posted.
Avatar n tn You may want to switch that generic Venlafaxine to Effexor XR and perhap talk to you doc about adding Lithium. Good thing about Lithium is even if you don't have Bi-polar, it will still help a lot as an add on medication for your Effexor XR. Generic Venlafaxine has no sustained release properties to it. This can pose a problem because it has such a short half life as atidepressants go. making the switch to Effexor XR and adding Lithium should make a world of difference.
Avatar f tn Since they are in the same family of drugs, you really shouldn't have any side effects. I went off propanol onto Toprol XL, both beta blockers with no issues at all. The problem may be in the dosage or even the fact it's a generic. I find the generic not to be as effective as the brand but perhaps that's just me. I suggest you call the doctor or pharmacist. You are on a very low dose. I take 50mg of Toprol XL twice daily and that does not totally keep the SVT under control.
4951398 tn?1365456743 No problem :) I was on XL
Avatar n tn I have taken Toprol xl 25 mg for about 5 years. My doctor switched me to metoprolol several months ago. When I filled my prescription this time, it was from a different mfg and I think I may be having problems with it as I just don't feel right. Could changing the mfg make a difference? ALSO, my doctor prescribed 50 mg to be cut in half for my prescribed 25 mg dose. Does cutting this tablet in half compromise the time release?
Avatar f tn They stopped making this particular generic and I had to begin another generic form. I felt nauseated, stopped sleeping, and had headaches. I then tried a couple of other buproprion meds such as wellbutrin and Wellbutrin XL at a low dose, for a few days. Eventually, my pharmacist found more of my regular generic buproprion and I started back on it. I took it for two weeks, and I felt horrible - burning, tingling arms and legs, can't concentrate etc.
Avatar n tn Diana: Id say toprol xl or its generic .. metoprolol... Ive taken all three with out much trouble....hope this helps...
7001009 tn?1386963933 I know there are a ton of reviews, stories and recommendations regarding generic Wellbutrin (bupropion) usage and duration but my case seems unique and cannot find anything remotely similar to it. I'll keep as short and sweet as possible: - I started on 150mg of Bupropion (Sandoz manufacturer) and had an INTENSE honeymoon starting on the third day. It lasted ~2 days and the effects felt almost identical to that of MDMA.
Avatar f tn Hi, I've suffered with depression since having my son 17 years ago, I've been put on many different meds, prozac, sertraline, dothiepin, amitriptyline, mirtazapine, citalopram, I'm now on Viepax XL 75mg (since yesterday) and was wondering how well they work for people? as I don't want to be changeing meds every 5 mins.
1110049 tn?1409402144 I am three weeks into low dose (75mg) of Venaflaxine, generic form, and anxiety is terrible. Will go on higher dose when my body gets used to the medication. I feel like I am going to explode with my heart trying to leap out of my body, and shaking all the time. I thought I would begin to feel better, and I feel much worse. I am too ill even to phone doctor and make an appointment. So agitated. So ill. Help.
926651 tn?1244140366 3. The only difference I can identify in my routine is that my cardiologist started me on Toprol XL 25mg daily. Any ideas why this spike could have occured?
Avatar f tn i am taking bupropion hydrochloride xl 150mg and it says do not chew, i was wondering what would happen if i did. i have a brother that recreationally uses drugs and i want to be sure he would not want to take my meds away from me.
Avatar f tn See the posted FDA warning on generic Generic Toprol XL, or Metoprolol Succinate ER. Consumers have experienced increased blood pressure, increased heart rate and ectopic beats, as well as side effects such as nausea, dizziness and headaches from this generic. Call your prescribing doctor...
Avatar n tn I'm not a doctor and I know you are waiting for his answer. In the meantime, just a thought, did she happen to start taking generic TOPROL 4 months ago or did she switch from the extended release to an immediate release? The generic I'm talking about is called Metoprolol Succinate ER (generic for the brand TOPROL XL) and doesn't work as well in some people. A switch back to brand might do the trick.
Avatar f tn My husband also has irregular heart rate and this week we got him switched back from generic metoprolol succinate to toprol XL and lo and behold he is back in good heart rhythm. That got me thinking if indeed my problem could be similiar.......one thing that has really upset me is that after my heart attack my EF was at 42% and it has dropped to 30% and again wonder if I need to be on diferent drugs. My dr thinks that isn't the answer but I'm not sure...... Any thoughts?
