161647 tn?1280608163 The only thing I can think of was that my mom started taking Glucosamine last year. Can the Glucosamine affect eye vision. Or does anyone have any suggestions. My mom is worried that there is something seriously wrong because the doctor said the next step is too see a retina specialist. Thanks for any advise.
Avatar f tn I am a runner. When I don't run I get depressed. I have not had the energy to run in months and now I hurt, first it was my ankles, then my knees, now it hurts in my hips. I really hope someone out there can tell me they eventually returned to running or aerobic activities. I'm one month into treatment with no improvements, only more symptoms and a heap load of depression.
1093971 tn?1257833640 Not all glucosamine products are created equal. In order to best evaluate a product, you need to consider several things. When your healthcare and joint discomfort is at stake, take a moment and consider these criteria: What form is the glucosamine in? What is the total daily dose? Are there any other ingredients? What type is the glucosamine? How pure are the ingredients? If you’re considering taking glucosamine with chondroitin you have another ballgame.
Avatar f tn I just recently started taking glucosamine and Chondroitin to help my knee recover from a dislocated patella. but for some reason my contact lenses have become very dry is that a side effect of the glucosamine??. I have used this type of soft contacts for a long time but never experienced this problem. Thanks.
Avatar m tn My dog weighed 28-30lbs and the correct dose for her was 500mg Glucosamine per day. The vet said the 'human' Glucosamine was fine to use, so long as the dosage was correct for the dog's weight. So it depends what your dog's weight is, how much you can increase the dose. As far as I can make out, dogs (and humans too) respond differently to Glucosamine. With some there are great results, and with some, not much improvement. You could mention this to your vet perhaps.
Avatar f tn My dog is 12 year old and has arthrits and the vet told me to use glucosamine. In the summer time he does not need it. Now my dog is whimpering and shakeing, when I pet him he stops. This started a couple of days ago. The weather got really cold fast and I just started him back on glucosamine. Does this sound like the arthrits acting up or do I need to worry? How much glucosamine can I give him? I hate when my dog is in pain, I have had him since I was in kindergarden.
Avatar f tn I also buy the Pedigree dog food which has one where it has glucosamine in it for healthy joints. Ofcourse ask your vet if Glucosamine would be ok for your dog to take because I don't know if hip arthritis and hip dysplasia is the same thing. I hope and pray your baby gets better.
Avatar n tn I have always fed them a really good food with the added glucosamine. I just recently changed foods to one without glucosamine. My lab started limping really bad. I went to human vitamin store and got her some glucosamine supplements. I got the liquid flavored glucosamine and the glucosamine soft flavored chew. I know some cannot swallow pills. My dog eats the chews if I slightly warm them. She will not touch the liquid. I would rather put a pill in some meat or something.
Avatar n tn ive been giving my dog which is 17kg 1000mg of glucosamine every day for a week which i will now reduce to 500mg a day is there any thing else i should give him with this or is glucosamine alone ok my dog has early signs of arthritis in his back legs its a bit of an effort for him to get up now he is 10 yrs 3mths old and had cruciate ligament surgery back in may last yr and in the other leg about 5 to 6 yrs ago
675347 tn?1365460645 Please does anyone know the dosage of Glucosamine Sulphate for dogs? How many milligrams per pound body weight? Also, is it ok to give my dog the regular Glucosamine (which people take) as it is so much cheaper to buy that at the supermarket, than to get it from the vet, or to buy dog treats which contain it! Thanks for any help or suggestions, anyone. Ginger.
Avatar m tn I take a throid pill every morning. Would glucosamine Chondrotin interfer with it?
Avatar m tn I have been recently diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my large toe. I believe it is from repeated trauma to that joints having been climbing a local mountain and upon descending much stress is put on that lead foot. I take glucosamine and that's about it, although I do wear insoles in my running shoes that help a bit. There is swelling that doesn't diminish and pain is intermittent. I'm considering checking into surgery and wonder if anyone has any advice about this. Thanks !
Avatar f tn Hi,does anyone know what dose of glucosamine & chondroitin i should give my 7yr old border collie,he is getting very stiff in his hind leg when getting up(old injury when he was 1yr old) but once he gets going he is still as fit & active as ever.
1110049 tn?1409402144 Glucosamine is commonly taken in combination with chondroitin, a glycosaminoglycan derived from articular cartilage. Use of complementary therapies, including glucosamine, is common in patients with osteoarthritis, and may allow for reduced doses of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents.
689367 tn?1227469139 I have also been told that glucosamine (Joint supplements) is not good for your eyes and could elevate pressure. How true is that?
441382 tn?1452810569 I had the same question a while back, in the Spring. Misty had been showing a bit of possible arthritis in her right hind leg which was broken once. I asked the vet about this because I didn't want to pay premium prices for a "pet brand" Glucosamine, and he said Glucosamine is exactly the same substance, whether it's formulated in a preparation for dogs, or people. And Chondroitin is the same. I believe they are both natural substances obtained from shellfish.
Avatar f tn She is about 47 lbs and is having hip discomfort......I want to buy a glucosamine supplement to see if help but some of them that I am seeing have a lot side effects....Do you have any suggestions for one that has less side effects?
Avatar n tn It was fine for a while with some pain now and then. But as i started playing soccer and/or running in the cold my shoulder swells up and I have a very very sharp pain. It even hurts to breath. I love playing in the cold, but the pain is sometimes to much to bear. If anybody could give me tips or tricks to prevent this pain from coming or at least so i don't have as much pain, it would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn I just bought Osteo Bi-Flex with 5-Loxin advanced (Glucosamine, Chrondroitin, MSM, AKBA complex) at Walmart for my dogs. One dog weighs about 120lbs, and the other weighs about 65lbs. I need direction in knowing how many caplets to give to each of them daily. Very grateful.
Avatar f tn Will my 12 year old yellow lab/siberian die because he ate 12 tabs Glucosamine Chondroitin for dogs from Trader Joes, 250 m g ea??
Avatar n tn ginger and glucosamine sulfate will affect coumadin (warfarin) I'm on warfarin and can't take ginger or glucosamine and a host of other supplements.
Avatar n tn Has anyone tried using n-acetyl glucosamine in conjunction with their normal insulin regamin (UCI study in August showed it might help)? My 10 year old type 1 diabetic son (diagnosed in 2002) has been taking 3 mg of n-acetyl glucosamine each day for 3 months, and we have seen a reduction in the amount of insulin he needs of about 10 % and a "evening out" of his blood sugars.
Avatar m tn Oh I am so sorry, both that you lost your well-loved Terrier, and that your Dalmation has taken it so badly. Grief and missing a loved companion is natural in dogs, but I can understand why you are worried, when it has this effect. Yes, depression can cause physical decline, but even an old dog who has got sad and down, that she feels her age, and has aches and pains, can maybe be cheered up. I don't really know about how wise it would be to get another dog in.
