glucosamine

Avatar f tn My dog weighs 29lbs. I will start him on the Glucosamine and Chondroitin and hopefully it will help him.Once again, thanks for the info.
Avatar f tn When daily oral doses of up to 2700 mg/kg were given in the rat and 2100 mg/kg in the dog for one year and six months, respectively, no anatomical lesions were found in the gastrointestinal system or other organs. The dose given to the dogs would be equivalent to 150,000 mg in a 70 kg human. Most of the recommended dosages for patients with arthritis are about 500 mg three times a day.
Avatar n tn I was wondering whether he needed the glucosamine/chondroitin combination because he had no digestive issues when he took Myristin -- which is a CMO(cetyl myristoleate) +glucosamine -- but the only thing is that the glucosamine dosage is much lower, the loading amount only provides 600 mg a day. Can I perhaps supplement it with additional glucosamine (no chondroitin)? Maybe the chondroitin is upsetting his stomach.
Avatar f tn m to take Magnesium Glycinate, Glucosamine Sulfat, Joint Support, and CoQ10 30 mg in the morning packets and Magnesium Glycinat, Glucosamine Sulfat, Heart Formula, and Joint Support in the evening packets. Because these were so expensive I'd prefer to not throw them out; however, I've had them for over 3 years now. Since there is no date...can I still use them? I did contact the company where I purchased them and got what felt like a standard answer of ...
Avatar f tn Your mom will need to take 150mg glucosamine for the rest of her life if she has osteoarthritis. It keeps the joints and their connective tissues lubricated, as they dry up as we age. Some people respond quickly, and others feel no effect at all. There are also exercises that help. The main thing is not to let the joints seize up. Keep active.
Avatar f tn It took a few weeks before I noticed a big difference. The reason being these ingredients take time to build up in your system and because they actually heal the areas to some degree it takes longer. I also have to watch my diet and stay clear of foods that I am allergic to that can cause inflamation. If you wish to try it make sure you are not allergic to shell fish (glucosamine) or MSM (from pine tree bark) or Arnica ( arnica montana flower).
Avatar m tn I had him on bute tablets for two months as I am also giving him I Glucossamine1500 tablet a day, stopped the bute as dangerous to go more than 3months on them but they gave the Glucosamine a chance to get into the system and that is all he is on now and they are safe, the bute tabs are cheap,a good stand by in the short term. He does not limp anymore as he lives inside he rarely gets cold and pain free. Make sure he is kept warm that is so important ....
161647 tn?1280608163 The only thing I can think of was that my mom started taking Glucosamine last year. Can the Glucosamine affect eye vision. Or does anyone have any suggestions. My mom is worried that there is something seriously wrong because the doctor said the next step is too see a retina specialist. Thanks for any advise.
1093971 tn?1257833640 What form is the glucosamine in? What is the total daily dose? Are there any other ingredients? What type is the glucosamine? How pure are the ingredients? If you’re considering taking glucosamine with chondroitin you have another ballgame. Since you didn’t ask about the latter I’ll stick to glucosamine by itself. If you search the Internet you’ll see inconclusive evidence of glucosamine having negative effects on blood sugar.
Avatar m tn 5 pound schnauzer and has been limping a bit after exercise. I have started giving her 500 mg of glucosamine a day and wanted to know if this is the right dosage?
Avatar m tn Thank you for the reply. I was thinking to go to gym and work out slowly to get back to normal as soon as possible I am also right handed so I use the right arm a lot before i couldn't carry a cup or back I try to use my left arm, I don't think there is any drug in the system anymore since i stop 2 weeks ago deca is winstrol is water base thats should be gone and deca is oil base it should be gone too but if i get tested it will show even a year later.
Avatar f tn Any substance in high concentrations could cause nausea and vomiting in your dad's weakened state. He may not have the enzymes to utilize the Glucosamine like he did before the gastric tube. Glucosamine Hcl is cheaper and it is harder for the body to utilize than the higher quality Glucosamine sulfate. With that being said, Glucosamine sulfate is commonly use in people who have GI problems because it helps to protect the mucus membranes and heal injuried tissue.
6669309 tn?1462648142 Arthritis is very common in older dogs and the longer dogs live the more common it is becoming. Nutritional supplements Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate are two substances that have fast become the standard treatment in canine age-related arthritis. These are often sold as a single combined substance in good pet shops and quality supermarkets. Alternatively, just look up "Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate for dogs" on Google and you should find a supplier.
Avatar f tn My dog is 12 year old and has arthrits and the vet told me to use glucosamine. In the summer time he does not need it. Now my dog is whimpering and shakeing, when I pet him he stops. This started a couple of days ago. The weather got really cold fast and I just started him back on glucosamine. Does this sound like the arthrits acting up or do I need to worry? How much glucosamine can I give him? I hate when my dog is in pain, I have had him since I was in kindergarden.
Avatar m tn My dog weighed 28-30lbs and the correct dose for her was 500mg Glucosamine per day. The vet said the 'human' Glucosamine was fine to use, so long as the dosage was correct for the dog's weight. So it depends what your dog's weight is, how much you can increase the dose. As far as I can make out, dogs (and humans too) respond differently to Glucosamine. With some there are great results, and with some, not much improvement. You could mention this to your vet perhaps.
436837 tn?1293793226 Our mixed breed seems to have arthritis in the paw that had the lump we had removed. He limps when the weather changes. The vet gave us pain pills.Well I work in the medical field and interacted with another vet (Patient) who said to stop giving him the pain pills they would ruin the dogs liver.I had asked out vet about baby aspirin, he stated no it was not good for dogs. Now I am getting this information from another vet who said baby aspirin is harmless and would not hurt Lazy.
Avatar n tn I read the question & answer regarding muscle atrophy in hind legs and the information on glucosamine and the omega fatty acids. These supplements are already being administered. Additionally, I walk my dog every morning. Granted, the walks have slowed as he has aged and the distance traveled h as lessened, but he still does get excercise. He reminds me that it's time to walk and appears to enjoy it.
Avatar n tn I went to human vitamin store and got her some glucosamine supplements. I got the liquid flavored glucosamine and the glucosamine soft flavored chew. I know some cannot swallow pills. My dog eats the chews if I slightly warm them. She will not touch the liquid. I would rather put a pill in some meat or something. It is much easier for her to take. I put her back on a food with glucosamine and she isnt having any problems. I learned my lesson about changing foods.
Avatar n tn ive been giving my dog which is 17kg 1000mg of glucosamine every day for a week which i will now reduce to 500mg a day is there any thing else i should give him with this or is glucosamine alone ok my dog has early signs of arthritis in his back legs its a bit of an effort for him to get up now he is 10 yrs 3mths old and had cruciate ligament surgery back in may last yr and in the other leg about 5 to 6 yrs ago
675347 tn?1365460645 I read an article a few weeks ago about giving the human glucosamine to dogs, the person writing the article was not a vet but a knowledgeable expert in dog breeding. They said that the vet and pet store glucosamine is not as good because it contains a lot more salt than the human form.
Avatar n tn I only notice it at night, possibly I am too distracted and moving during the day to notice. When I have heated the room more - had the heater on during the night in the winter, it seems to reduce it. Even though electric blankets don't change it. It feels like warmth should fix it, as it is a deathly cold in the marrow feeling. However, I think it is drying out the air that helps.
Avatar f tn Everyone is different, so whatever works best is what works best. Apple cider vinegar regulates the acid/alkaline balance in the digestive system, and much of what we think we know from it is from a couple of historic figures whose claims can't be even found, yet alone proven, as far as anything else it does. Glucosamine and chondrointon are actually part of healthy connective tissue, so that's the theory behind taking them.
1110049 tn?1409402144 In the British news today it says that taking Glucosamine and Chondroitin was no better than a placebo for pain of arthritis. Now I take not for pain relief, but because I thought it helped keep our joints supple and not dried out. Only last week the physiotherapist who was treating me at my local hospital told me to take 1500mg a day. I thought it was something that acted as a building block for cartilage in our joints. I assumed it would help in the long term.
Avatar m tn Hi Joanne, I took Glucosamine Chondrotin and Synthroid without any problems with interactions. In your position, I would ask the pharmacist selling the meds if both drugs would interfere with each other, just to be sure. I only know you should be careful combining Glucosamine Chondroitin with Coumarins, because it may amplify the anticoagulant effect.
441382 tn?1452810569 The other day she jumped down about five or six stairs to a landing because she was chasing the birds that were in the tree growing beside the stairs. Since then she has been kind of "ouchy" on one of her hind legs, but it seems to be working itself out because once she's up and moving, she's pretty normal.
