My dog saw a holistic vet in January for a severe ear infection, before then he was able to walk (40 min.) twice a day. He took a whole course of Baytril right before his blood test was taken and a month ago he got some antibiotic eardrop efloxacin. The vet suspected that he might have arthritis and Cushings because he was urinating more often in the evenings, had a ravenous appetite and his blood test indicated high potassium level.

I just recently started taking glucosamine and Chondroitin to help my knee recover from a dislocated patella. but for some reason my contact lenses have become very dry is that a side effect of the glucosamine??. I have used this type of soft contacts for a long time but never experienced this problem. Thanks.
My dog is 12 year old and has arthrits and the vet told me to use glucosamine. In the summer time he does not need it. Now my dog is whimpering and shakeing, when I pet him he stops. This started a couple of days ago. The weather got really cold fast and I just started him back on glucosamine. Does this sound like the arthrits acting up or do I need to worry? How much glucosamine can I give him? I hate when my dog is in pain, I have had him since I was in kindergarden.
My dog weighed 28-30lbs and the correct dose for her was 500mg Glucosamine per day. The vet said the 'human' Glucosamine was fine to use, so long as the dosage was correct for the dog's weight.
So it depends what your dog's weight is, how much you can increase the dose.
As far as I can make out, dogs (and humans too) respond differently to Glucosamine. With some there are great results, and with some, not much improvement.
You could mention this to your vet perhaps.
I would certainly give him a Glucosamine/Chondroitin supplement. I give my dog 500mg Glucosamine plus 200mg Chondroitin, and she weighs 28lbs. She had a broken legf years ago, and very occasionally got a twinge and a slight limp. Since starting the Glucosamine....within a few days!! she did not show any discomfort at all, and has not shown signs of twinges yet.
Apparently it works better alongside vitamin C.
I have always fed them a really good food with the added glucosamine. I just recently changed foods to one without glucosamine. My lab started limping really bad. I went to human vitamin store and got her some glucosamine supplements. I got the liquid flavored glucosamine and the glucosamine soft flavored chew. I know some cannot swallow pills. My dog eats the chews if I slightly warm them. She will not touch the liquid. I would rather put a pill in some meat or something.
ive been giving my dog which is 17kg 1000mg of glucosamine every day for a week which i will now reduce to 500mg a day is there any thing else i should give him with this or is glucosamine alone ok my dog has early signs of arthritis in his back legs its a bit of an effort for him to get up now he is 10 yrs 3mths old and had cruciate ligament surgery back in may last yr and in the other leg about 5 to 6 yrs ago

Sir I live in New Delhi so do you know any good Doctor or Hospital where I could go for the treatment or examination. Sir I don't have that much funds but i'm looking for an advised where I could get the treatment done in less amount.

Facilities for treatment of lymphomas is available in many hospitals in Delhi including AIIMS, Max, Apollo, Fortis, Artemis, Batra etc. The important things to consider are the treatment that is being offered, availability of facilities for specialized care of cancer patients, availability of comprehensive cancer care facilities including stem cell transplantation, radiation therapy, intensive care etc. For these reasons, Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute may be a better option.

I do not know any personallyh. Indian ophthalmologis is excellent. You need a pediatric/strabismus eye MD ophthalmologist. You might check a medical school staff or if you know a pediatrician have them refer you.
My three moths old baby is suffering from alagille syndrome regarding abnormality of liver ..
I take a throid pill every morning. Would glucosamine Chondrotin interfer with it?
