Avatar n tn My vet said it was ok to get human vitamins for them. He also said it was ok to feed food with glucosamine plus the vitamins.
Avatar n tn A couple years ago i fell awkwardly on my shoulder only to find out that I had torn my rotator cuff which caused tendinitis. It was fine for a while with some pain now and then. But as i started playing soccer and/or running in the cold my shoulder swells up and I have a very very sharp pain. It even hurts to breath. I love playing in the cold, but the pain is sometimes to much to bear.
Avatar n tn About a month ago, my ankle started to hurt for no apparent reason. I did not experience any type of injury, and though I regularly run, it doesnt seem like a stress injury because I hadnt run on it for 3 weeks when it happened. I was always able to put weight on it, although I had to walk on the inside of my foot for a few weeks because the little toes up through my outer ankle were tender. Now, a month later it still hurts when I wake up and it is painful to bend my foot inward.
Avatar n tn I have heard many different things about glucosamine for dogs . That is is okay for your dogs, and also that it isn't. There can be many benefits to providing supplements for your dog. It can help them remain healthy and with that even happier. No one likes to deal with a grumpy dog. Can you tell me where I could find more information about glucosamine for dogs though?
Avatar n tn As far as I know, in the USA all college athletes and all pro athletes are subject to tests for steroids, etc. It's a complicated issue. For example, Brian Cushing, a professional football player was recently disciplined for testing for an illegal substance. Either Brian Cushing is expecting a baby or his feminine side is showing, but he tested very high for Estrogen. Estrogen masks excessive Testesterone.
Avatar m tn if you take them at mealtime it will just act to digest the protein you just ate, whereas for antiinflammatory purposes you want it to digest the crud that forms around joints and muscles that partially cause inflammation. (Very scientific term, crud, eh? There is a word for it, but I forget what it is). A cheaper supplement you can find in any health food store is Woebenzyme, but I don't think it works quite as well, at least for me. Sells a whole lot better, though.
Avatar f tn Women with strong muscles such as athletes will show less. If you think you are too big, you could discuss an ultrasound with your doctor, to rule out twins, Good luck!
Avatar n tn I agree with BionicBabe - definitely get him looked at for safety sake before letting him practice or play. It could be nothing or something but when you see young athletes with debilitating heart rhythms you worry about WPW, ARVD, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, coronary artery abnormalities or, to a lesser degree, idiopathic arrhythmias. Except for coronary artery abnormalities you can go a long way towards ruling out these problems with an EKG and echocardiogram.
Avatar n tn my ***** is 12 years old and been sruggling to walk for couple months now just stiffly she not been in pain and she still running around with other dogs but today her front legs have gone worse and she looks like she in pain?
Avatar f tn t make provisions for their disposal. Not smart. When you have that many young, fit and attractive young people in one spot, there will be sex. Lots of sex.
694961 tn?1228732588 vitamin c in large doses (buffered kind), msm, hyaluronic acid, and the combo of magnesium and B-1 (thiamin) can help relax muscles in the back, a little known but often effective avenue to try. i had one major success with that in someone with DDD. green-lipped mussel and all that shark cartilage is often the raw materials for glucosamine and is nothing special in my own opinion, but if it works use it.
Avatar m tn I've heard some athletes have asthma. How do they do it? When I was really young (9-10 years old) the doctors told me I had Asthma, but I think I must've grown out of it or something. Anyways, recently I've had some breathing issues. I've been through all the EKGs, had a CT angiogram, and visited the Pulmonologist, so that means I've been told whatever I may have is not super serious. If I do have some asthma though, it may be more exercise induced. What do athletes do?
Avatar f tn I am looking for natural arthritis remedies for a 10 year old chihuahua. I read somewhere that blackstrap molasses works wonders for arthritis pain in dogs. I also heard of extra virgin coconut oil and apple cider vinegar. I am really tempted to mix all these and give it a try. Has anyone tried these? or are there any other natural remedies? My dog has been on metacam but it doesn't work very well, I can tell she is still in pain.
Avatar n tn Have you told the cardiologist that you are an endurance athlete? this will give him a lot of clues. For example, many athletes have resting heart rates of less than 60, it has been known for some to be 25. As your heart evolves for your activity, it simply becomes much more efficient at its job, so it doesn't need to pump as often. It is also very common for an ekg in an athlete to look different from an average persons.
161647 tn?1280608163 The only thing I can think of was that my mom started taking Glucosamine last year. Can the Glucosamine affect eye vision. Or does anyone have any suggestions. My mom is worried that there is something seriously wrong because the doctor said the next step is too see a retina specialist. Thanks for any advise.
Avatar m tn 5 pound schnauzer and has been limping a bit after exercise. I have started giving her 500 mg of glucosamine a day and wanted to know if this is the right dosage?
Avatar m tn LVH (or left ventricular hypertrophy) often times seen in athletes and young patients. Typically, younger patients such as a 31 year old will not usually have pathologic LVH in the absence of other risk factors such as hypertension or family history of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. I encourage you to discuss these findings with your doctor to see if further testing such as an echo would be indicated.
1093971 tn?1257833640 Not all glucosamine products are created equal. In order to best evaluate a product, you need to consider several things. When your healthcare and joint discomfort is at stake, take a moment and consider these criteria: What form is the glucosamine in? What is the total daily dose? Are there any other ingredients? What type is the glucosamine? How pure are the ingredients? If you’re considering taking glucosamine with chondroitin you have another ballgame.
Avatar f tn That expains it?
1388999 tn?1370042814 that leg a bit in cold damp weather) So I started her straight away on the maximum dosage for her weight of both Glucosamine and Chondroitin (That is 500mg Glucosamine and 200mg Chondroitin for her weight which is 28lbs) I asked the vet could I use Human grade pills. He said yes the substances are exactly the same. The human ones are much cheaper than veterinary ones! So I bought a huge pack of the pills at reduced price for bulk buy.
Avatar f tn but for some reason my contact lenses have become very dry is that a side effect of the glucosamine??. I have used this type of soft contacts for a long time but never experienced this problem. Thanks.
Avatar n tn Hello and welcome to MedHelp's forums. Thanks for your question and we are sorry for the delay of a response. How are you feeling now? Sometimes after recovering from a virus, it can take a bit of time to bounce back. This could be the case for you. If you are still suffering fatigue, weakness, dizziness and occasional nausea, please speak to your doctor. As you are very active, sometimes there can be an issue with dehydration and taking in enough calories to support your activity.
Avatar f tn He may not have the enzymes to utilize the Glucosamine like he did before the gastric tube. Glucosamine Hcl is cheaper and it is harder for the body to utilize than the higher quality Glucosamine sulfate. With that being said, Glucosamine sulfate is commonly use in people who have GI problems because it helps to protect the mucus membranes and heal injuried tissue. It is a very important supplement in IBS, Chrones disease, ulcers etc., I feel really bad for you and your dad.
Avatar m tn hi have a 14 yr patterdale/lakeland her joints are stiff and shaky i have been giving her adult glucosamine sulphate for a few months now but doesnt seem to be getting any better or worse should i increase the dose
Avatar m tn s fish oil with enhanced DHA and EPA (15 grams daily), megadose vitamin E, and megadose glucosamine+chondroitin+MSM daily for anti inflammatory effects for my joint and tendon problems. I am looking to treat trauma of the brachial tendon to treat pain during bicep workouts by using a glucosamine cream. I have heard anecdotally that the cream format increases bio-availability by a staggering amount and that the oral supplement is essentially a snake oil product.
