Common Questions and Answers about Glucosamine for nails

748543 tn?1463449675 For the past few weeks I have been throwing around ideas as to the best way to respond to this matter. You see a recent article ( Feb.3 , 2009 NY times) titled "Best treatment for TMJ May be Nothing" nearly made me clench my jaw to pieces. While well written, I found that the author, Ms. Brody, relied heavily on out dated and narrow perspective supplied to her by a small group of dentists.
1232362 tn?1333139006 THAT'S a big dang help. I'll go w/no aspirin. I did find a rec. for 500 mg daily of glucosamine and chondroitin-they said to give w/food to prevent vomiting & diarrhea. Has anyone tried this? Can I use the products offered @ Riteaid or do I need to go to the pet supply place? We've already had steps in place for her so she doesn't need to jump onto anything and her litter pans are easy access. I've tried a heating pad but she doesn't like it.
Avatar m tn I dont know if im just been given the brush off, im happy to just take vit D for 3 months and then go back for tests, but what i wanted to know was should i be taking b12 or folate as well, or be asking to see an endo?
Avatar n tn I do not use a preparation for dogs specifically, but the human grade Glucosamine/Chondroitin, max. dose for her weight. She weighs 28lbs and the dose for that weight is 500mg Glucosamine and 200mg Chondroitin. The human grade is a capsule a day, is MUCH cheaper, is EXACTLY the same substance, and doesn't contain any other additives, as the Glucosamine-containing dog treats do. But to find out whether it is arthritis or not you need to speak to your vet.
Avatar n tn It is very common for dogs 13 years or so to have degenerative joint disease (arthritis). The parts are just wearing out. The problem can occur anywhere there are joints in the body, which include her spine, hips, knees, ankles, feet, shoulders, elbows, wrists, and even in her tail. Lyme disease can contribute to joint pain and should be checked often and treated if necessary.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the good advice about caring for nails. I guess once I get on tx, I won't have any left. :-) time will tell...
Avatar f tn There are a number of possible reasons for this to happen, though really only a doctor can diagnose you. I would look into taking glucosamine pills for now to help with joint pain and see if it helps at all. I'd make another doctor's appointment to get your hand looked at and see what they say. It could be from a genetic condition, from trauma, or from a malformation in growth, among some other possible reasons. I hope you can get some answers soon.
Avatar n tn I started having problems with my hands cramping up, so bad it was hard to hold the steering wheel on my way home from work, but that has been very well contolled since I started taking glucosamine chondroitin in early 2008. I had surgery for endometriosis and I haven't had any issues with it since then. I take glucosamine chondroitin, a good multi-vtamin, calcium/vit D, vitamin E, Biotin (prescribed by Dermatologist), verapimil (for Raynaud's), generic Wellbutrin(for depression), Omega 3.
Avatar n tn But I know MSM will make your hair and nails grow. When I went on Plaquinel, my hair quit falling out. Lauren, thank you for your kind encoragement. You are a jewel.

1415174 tn?1453246703 I'm new to this site. I originally went to my neurologist for migraines and was put on Topamax for vertigo. It has worked At the same time I am perimenopausal and have become hypothyroid. My TSH was taken by my family practise doctor and the values have doubled every couple of months and are now at 8.25mcIU/mL reference range 0.358-3.800. He doesn't believe in doing the T3 and T4 and said that they are combined in the TSH value or something like that. In any case he doesn't like to run them.
Avatar f tn However, one of the biggest drawbacks to this type of treatment is that it takes a long time, because ferritin levels must be increased gradually. Allow 2-3 months for hair to stop shedding, and 5-6 months for new hairs to become long enough to make a visible impact. Many women who want to look and feel their best are turning to all-natural remedies to treat low serum ferritin hair loss.
Avatar m tn literally she drops her stool whenever the feeling occurs which is sometimes in her bed. I can't take her for walks becuz she is now dragging her back legs and her toe nails have begun to bleed. I have tried putting shoes on her but they don't work because her legs are too feeble to keep them on. I have taken her to the vet recently to get her shots and they want me to spend a ton of money on x-rays and bloodwork to determine what is wrong.

Avatar n tn As a result he daily takes 75mg Deramaxx, 2 Glucosamine tablets, 50mg Tramadol, and 100mg Atopica (cyclosporine) with 200mg ketoconazole for an anal fistula problem. He had a yearly checkup 3 weeks ago. Bloodtest, wellness testing, vaccines, nails trimmed. They trimmed one nail too short, it bled alot, but they put a clotting agent on it. All blood levels were fine.
Avatar n tn Every morning when I get up from the bed, the first steps are really VERY painful for my feet, and also if I sit even for a little time, my feet AND knees are very sore after I stand up, especially for the first couple of minutes. Especially my right heel for the past 2-3 weeks is very painful if I touch it or when I walk on hard surface (which of course I try to avoid completely).
1358341 tn?1282213443 If there were some vitamin alimentary complement with potassium that I could be sure 100% good ? Glucosamine/chondrodin is good for arthritis: What is the name of your product ? There she woke up and went drinking. I'm very glad to have all of those advices. But I'm still lost because here in France there is not a lot of products like that for sell. I'll have to know what to order ? So excuse if I hesitate.
Avatar m tn She was diagnosed with renal failure in July after we had blood work done in order to put her on pain medication for her arthritis. Needless to say, this was very discouraging, since the vet told us that there's not a lot we can do for her arthritis pain due to the negative effects it would have on the kidneys. We feed her Hill's KD (both wet and dry - she likes the wet food, but could take or leave the dry) and give a Glucosamine and Condroitin supplement each day.
317787 tn?1473362051 I will sleep another hour or two, then be up for about 6-8 hours, fall asleep for another couple of hours...then be back up for 4 -6 hours and start over again. There is no rhyme or normal pattern. The sleeping pattern can change daily or weekly. I do tend to find if I am out and about I can tend to stay up all day and if I can get over that 4 pm - 6 pm draw to sleep I will stay up.
1840891 tn?1431551393 The no-brainer for me is the Coenzyme Q 10 for the reasons discussed in the last 1/2 dozen posts on the 'My Three' thread I started on this page. HCV causes damage specifically to the mitochondria of liver cells and CoQ10 is necessary to mitochondrial health. Willy50 has some good youtube links on that thread. Because my job sometimes involves exposure to toxic chemicals (no matter how much PPE I wear), NAC -- N-acetyl-L-cysteine -- is another no-brainer for me.
Avatar f tn I am a 30 yo female who was functioning at high levels prior to the onset of my illness. My past medical hx is notable for jaundice (birth), asthma, ADHD, Neurocardiogenic Syncope, intolerance to extreme temperatures, fluctuations in weight (10-15 lbs), episodes of indigestion & vomiting, and hypersomnolence since childhood. I was 8 yo when I began entering puberty, starting menses at 9 yo. Since that time, I have had irregular menses & migraines.

Avatar n tn Wow, Rocker, youre intense! thought I was bad, ha ha! Mine, oatmeal with blueberries and cinnamon, some soy milk (oh, btw, Ina, have read some studies lately that soy has gotten a bad rap, it is pretty darn good for most people unless they are proven allergic, of course, in moderation) One 5 minute egg...and a drink I drink made from different kinds of berries, it's called Berry Splash from Garden of Greens.... I drink a glass of it every morning, one spoonful in a glass of water...

Avatar n tn 34 years old - overweight (285) Ultrasound - normal Blood work - normal CT scan - only indication is slightly enlarged spleen Have been on Cipro for one week Have taken flagyl for three days - just stopped because of side effects maybe from flagyl (headace, chills, stomach spasms). Pain is not diminishing. I'm thinking the gall bladder. My doc is looking at diverticulitus, but my pain is in upper right quadrant, not the usual place for this. I know he's going to try barium enema next.
Avatar n tn told surgeon on 2 separate occasions he ignored my questions as to why this happened. The last 8 months have been hell for me. i am now on 800 mg of neurotin 3x a day. i cannot put any weight on my left leg at all.i had an MRI and a Cscan done , not really a 100% sure , but it looks as though the screw on the left side of the plate in my lower back went down too far and is actually sitting on the nerve going down theleft leg. any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn However, my right leg has been a constant source of ongoing trouble for me - pain, stiffness, achiness, etc - for years. I am 34-years old now, and for the past 4 years I have had a lot of trouble with my right leg and hip. Most of the pain that I experience seems to be muscle-related pain - my actual hip joint rarely hurts. But my right leg is a little bit shorter than the left leg, and the muscles in my right thigh are smaller and somewhat atrophied compared to the muscles in m left leg.
