Common Questions and Answers about Glucosamine dosage overdose

glucosamine

Avatar m tn You can safely give your dog 600mg od glucosamine a day. I found this info from a reliable website.
441382 tn?1452810569 I had the same question a while back, in the Spring. Misty had been showing a bit of possible arthritis in her right hind leg which was broken once. I asked the vet about this because I didn't want to pay premium prices for a "pet brand" Glucosamine, and he said Glucosamine is exactly the same substance, whether it's formulated in a preparation for dogs, or people. And Chondroitin is the same. I believe they are both natural substances obtained from shellfish.
Avatar m tn My dog weighed 28-30lbs and the correct dose for her was 500mg Glucosamine per day. The vet said the 'human' Glucosamine was fine to use, so long as the dosage was correct for the dog's weight. So it depends what your dog's weight is, how much you can increase the dose. As far as I can make out, dogs (and humans too) respond differently to Glucosamine. With some there are great results, and with some, not much improvement. You could mention this to your vet perhaps.
558059 tn?1288550944 I'm surprised Glucosamine/Chondrotin didn't seem to work for her. Are you using the right dosage? I give my dog (who weighs 28lbs) 500mg Glucosamine, and 200mg Chondrotin every day without fail. (So you could calculate the correct dosage for your dog's weight, from that.) In her case she had an intermittent limp in her right leg, which was a throwback from a broken leg about 6 years ago. As soon as I started her on the supplement, after about 5 days (!
Avatar f tn Hi,does anyone know what dose of glucosamine & chondroitin i should give my 7yr old border collie,he is getting very stiff in his hind leg when getting up(old injury when he was 1yr old) but once he gets going he is still as fit & active as ever.
675347 tn?1365460645 Please does anyone know the dosage of Glucosamine Sulphate for dogs? How many milligrams per pound body weight? Also, is it ok to give my dog the regular Glucosamine (which people take) as it is so much cheaper to buy that at the supermarket, than to get it from the vet, or to buy dog treats which contain it! Thanks for any help or suggestions, anyone. Ginger.
Avatar m tn - what dosage did you overdose on?
Avatar m tn thnx Trudie, i hurt so bad because of cervical spine osteoarthritis, this was my reason for overdose, i have been told their is no op available. It's to dangerous.....lol......there are no painkillers available.....lmfao......and i'm losing the use of my arms, i mean......WTF !..........oh and i cant get cannabis on private prescription cos it is so dear over here.....£264....FFS!....for something that lasts less than 2 weeks.......i know i'm whining but chronic pain makes u do that.
Avatar n tn t do any harm is to start her on Glucosamine and Chondroitin supplements. This really works, and is completely natural. (if the arthritis is not TOO bad, the Glucosamine/Chondroitin can work wonders) You could ask your vet's advice about this, and about the correct dosage (I would give her the maximum for her weight.) But ask advice first.
Avatar m tn When nails are too long it can affect the whole gait, and yes, put strain on joints and ligaments. The best thing to do is not to ever let the nails get too long in future. The strain should ease up in a few days, and in the meantime, don't put him through any particularly strenuous, or athletic movements. Just gentle exercise, like walking. No agility, or leaping around if it can possibly be avoided. Then things SHOULD heal naturally, and get back to balance.
1139187 tn?1355706647 Take the insert out of the box and see if you Can make sense of the dosage information. Says you can start with a dosage of 100 mcg if you are under 50 years o,d or recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism. However if you are older than 50 or have cardiac problems you should start with .13 to .25. Therebis about 3 paragraphs of confusing dosage information.
Avatar n tn I was wondering whether he needed the glucosamine/chondroitin combination because he had no digestive issues when he took Myristin -- which is a CMO(cetyl myristoleate) +glucosamine -- but the only thing is that the glucosamine dosage is much lower, the loading amount only provides 600 mg a day. Can I perhaps supplement it with additional glucosamine (no chondroitin)? Maybe the chondroitin is upsetting his stomach.
Avatar n tn The dosage amount is based on your body composition, height, weight, etc., so 1800mg (while it is an exceedingly high dosage) could possibly be a normal dosage size for someone large in stature. I was under the idea that it was common knowledge that overdosing on any drug can be fatal, but I guess you didn't know.
Avatar n tn Have you had a follow up blood test to monitor your dosage change to 50mcg? It certainly sounds like hyper symptoms to me, but you should be monitored closely and tested with any dosage change. Call your doc and describe your symptoms and ask why you haven't been tested to check the effectiveness of your new dosage change. You should have been tested at 6 weeks!
Avatar f tn Im having pain in the L4 L5 area in my spine. It hurts to walk. Would glucosamine chondroitin help with the oain ? If so, how much do I take? What is the dosage amount ?
Avatar f tn i just discovered i have been giving my 41 year old daughter twice the amount of NEUTRA-PHOS-K powder as prescribed.....(the mgram amount is not listed on the packets) the prescribed dosage is one packet twice daily and i have been giving her 2 packets twice daily for about 2 weeks.....is she in any danger if i just go back to the prescribed dosage right now ?...
Avatar n tn Please share the supplements and dosage instructions that you're taking. Are you following the pH recommendations? What about elimination of foods enabling the pathogens?
Avatar m tn I heard the effectivesnees of accutane is increased with a twice daily dosage. True? I will be taking 40mg a day, once a day. Would it be better to take 20 mg twice a day? Also, is it ok to take glucosamine for my joints while on accutane? Lastly, should I be getting a monthly blood test? Or any other precautionary measures?
Avatar f tn Hi - please consult your pharmacist or doctor before adjusting your medication dosage so you're certain to do so safely. Because every person's situation and medical history are different, only your medical professionals can advise you on how to safely adjust for missed dosages.
Avatar m tn My problem with Subutex is when I have extreme pain my standard dosage does not help at all. I was wondering if I doubled the dosage in cases like this if it would help. An example is I have been in the hospital x2 with severe chest pains and no way to get relief. I know most of you are not doctors but wondered if you have taken more than prescribed for higher pain levels?
Avatar n tn t think think any antidepressant offers benefits that increase in a linear fashion as the dosage goes up. For example, I am taking Celexa at 40 mg. I have read that increasing to 60 mg is possible but offers little clinical benefit.
Avatar f tn About an hour after that I took an adult sized dosage of Nyquil. I awoke Monday morning with a sharp pain in my upper abdomen. The pain comes and goes but stays longer each time it "hits". My stomach seems to be a little swollen but since I am a larger sized woman and have my share of belly fat it is hard to say how swollen it is. It feels tight on the inside and that's the best way I can describe it.
Avatar n tn Two years ago a nurse practioner increased my dosage from 50mg. to 150 mg. This caused my heart to start pounding day and night and espically at nught. It has been a little over two years and I still have problems romthis. How long will this last and will it ever completely clear up?
