We have a 10 yr old labrador retriever, named Pushi, who is diagnosed with kidney failure with E. Canis detected. Her blood report is as follows : UREA 149.00, BUN 72, CREATININE 3.80, URIC ACID 2.48, ALLKALINE PHOSPHATE 311.00, Hb 9.2, RBC 3.1, the remaining components are within normal ranges. We have consulted our Vet who has prescribed Enrofloxacin for E Canis. She has stopped eating and thus is being given ringer lactose and normosol saline alternately everyday.
I had a labrador retriever and he had his first seizure when he was 3 years old. The doctor told us he had epilepsy and prescribed a medicine which has to be given 2 times a day. After that he still used to have the seizures and the frequency was usually 2-3 times in 3 months, and the seizures were usually cluster seizures. He had a cluster seizure 2 nights ago and died the next morning. He died aged 7.
I had a 12 year old male english Labrador Retriever, named Sherman. He had horrible, horrible arthritis and he needed carried up and down stairs. In about 3 months he would have been 13 years old. I started giving him coconut capsules and heard it'd make the arthritus better. It did a little bit. I wasn't home when this happened, but my mother told me Sherman had been awake during the night and was standing with his head hung very low at about 3am.

I have a 6 year old Labrador golden retriever and 2 days ago he had a sadden epilepsy 2 times in 24 hours. After his first epilepsy, in an hour time, I took him to the vet. He was treated with medication. We came home and it happened again for the 2nd time. I took him to the vet again and he was treated with stronger medication for 24 hrs. He gave us medicine that he has to take for a life time as this was very serious.
ALSO, if you take him to the vet and the vet prescribes a product called Rimadyl, do your research on it before giving it to him. Labrador retrievers are one of the breeds that are known to have adverse reactions to rimadyl, and sometimes the benefits just do not outweigh the risks in something like this. What you CAN do is to start giving him a glucosamine and chondroitin supplement.
Our labrador retriever will occasionally have these symptoms (without any reason) She will begin doing the prayer position, stretching her stomach like she is in distress. She immediately wants to go outside, where she heads for grass to eat and then will occasionally vomit and defecate. The symptoms usually subside after 20-30 minutes. I thought bloat, but the vet has told me bloat is a fast fatal disease. Can you help me.
I have a 12 year old male Golden Labrador Retriever. I have noticed that over the past few months whenever he goes to urinate, he will do so normally, but his flow of urine does not stop until about 2 seconds after he puts his leg down. He does not seem to notice this and keeps walking along while the urine keeps flowing and eventually stops. Is there anything i can do, or does it just come with old age?

My 13 year old black Labrador retriever was found this morning laying on her side with eyes open and deep breathing not able to move. I took her to ER vet and today is Sunday so no other options than ER. They wanted 1000 dollars up front just to see what is wrong with her! They said all the tests cost that much and they can't do anything for her without those tests. They were not helpful and did not explain much to me.
My dog weighed 28-30lbs and the correct dose for her was 500mg Glucosamine per day. The vet said the 'human' Glucosamine was fine to use, so long as the dosage was correct for the dog's weight.
So it depends what your dog's weight is, how much you can increase the dose.
As far as I can make out, dogs (and humans too) respond differently to Glucosamine. With some there are great results, and with some, not much improvement.
You could mention this to your vet perhaps.
Your Duck is Dead!
A woman brought a very limp duck into a veterinary surgeon. As she laid her pet on the table, the vet pulled out his stethoscope and listened to the bird's chest.
After a moment or two, the vet shook his head and sadly said, "I'm sorry, your duck, Cuddles, has passed away."
The distressed woman wailed, "Are you sure?"
