Glucosamine and omega 3

Common Questions and Answers about Glucosamine and omega 3

glucosamine

Avatar f tn Ice, rest and NSAID's should be the mainstay of pain relief for you. Other options include omega 3, and glucosamine/chondroitin sulfate. Studies indicate that both seem to act as natural anti-inflammatories. Finally, I have had success sending patients for acupuncture to aid in their pain relief and recovery from orthopedic problems.
441382 tn?1452810569 I had the same question a while back, in the Spring. Misty had been showing a bit of possible arthritis in her right hind leg which was broken once. I asked the vet about this because I didn't want to pay premium prices for a "pet brand" Glucosamine, and he said Glucosamine is exactly the same substance, whether it's formulated in a preparation for dogs, or people. And Chondroitin is the same. I believe they are both natural substances obtained from shellfish.
Avatar m tn Hi. Supplements to a dog's diet such as Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate, Omega Fatty Acids, Vitamin E, Selenium, and MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) all assist in decreasing inflammation and improving the body's ability to repair and strengthen tissues. Supplements, however, will not reverse structural changes in a joint such as torn cartilage, calcium deposits and advanced scar tissue.
Avatar m tn Hello and hope you are doing well. If the Baker's cyst is restricting movement it may need to be surgically corrected. For the arthritis conservative measures are weight loss, rest, ice, canes, bracing, physical therapy. etc. Also, nutrition supply should be considered, with chondroprotective agents (glucosamine & chondroitin phosphate, MSM, Omega-3). Glucosamine and chondroitin phosphate are unlikely to cause any drug to drug interactions with your other medications.
Avatar f tn Please add Omega 3 Fatty acids at a dose of 250 mg twice daily. Adequan and hyaluronic acid injections will also help. Other natural remedies: Dog Gone Pain, Acupuncture, Physical Therapy, Prolotherapy, Stem Cell Therapy, Chinese Herbal Formulas: Benefits Hips and Knees, Di Gu Pi, Loranthus Combination and more. Non-Steroidal Anti-inflammatories, such as Rimadyl, or Previcox or equivalent, and Tramadol are helpful in conjunction with holistic therapies.
Avatar m tn Viscosupplementation with hyluronate injections, such as Synvisc, can be very helpful. Natural anti-inflammatories such as Glucosamine or Omega-3 are very useful alternatives. (I favor the omega-3) In addition, if you are overweight, then weight control is imperative. Finally, I have become a big proponent of acupuncture for orthopedic problems, and my experience has been that when combined with traditional orthopedics, acupuncture can have a synergistic effect.
1110049 tn?1409402144 I take glucosomine with chondrotin and MSM, and Omega 3. Is cod liver supplements better than omega 3? I have read about Krill oil. Has anybody tried that? Also a neighbour said Green Lipped Mussel helps her back pain. What do people here take to relieve their arthritis pain?
Avatar n tn Other medications such as Tramadol work with NSAIDS to help make them even more effective. Nutraceuticals such as glucosamine (which she is already taking) and Omega 3 Fatty acids also help adjunctively. Acupuncture either as a solo treatment or as another adjunct is also valuable for arthritis, as are Chinese Herbal Formula's for arthritis and pain.
374933 tn?1291081784 I use Nordic Naturals or Trader Joe's brands and have no problems with them. they are molecularly distilled to remove any heavy metals. If the complex means omega 3-6-9. stay away. Our diets our usually heavy on the omega 6's and low on the omega-3's. Taking Omega 3 is enough to set the balance straight. Omega 3's are a great supplement and can help inflammation, cholesterol, heart disease and in high enough doses- mood.
Avatar n tn Eating the right foods literally feeds your joints and keeps them strong and flexible. Foods like fish and walnuts or almonds contain essential fatty acids that lubricate. Unless you eat fatty fish like salmon or sardines on most days, you're not getting enough omega-3 fats-or their anti-inflammatory benefits. You want to get two specific omega-3s in particular: EPA and DHA. The best source for both is fish oil. Aim for 1,000-3,000 mg total DHA and EPA.
Avatar f tn I also keep having Ayurveda massage, taking Omega 3-6-9 and glucosamine/chondroitin which help me a lot because my main symptom is swelling knees. So far so good.
Avatar f tn Sorry it's been so long since a reply. Update: he's doing much better. I started him on a corn-free food (side note: other dog apparently sensitive to corn), and he's taking Omega 3-6-9 pills, Spirulina Wafers, glucosamine tablets, and "Fresh Factors" from Springtime Inc. The skin issue is gone, and we're expanding the dog food budget to an even better food to see if it improves him further.
Avatar f tn Natural dog arthritis supplements offering your dog the correct amounts of Glucosamine, MSM, Chondroitan sulfate, Hyaluronic acid, Omega-3 fatty acids and Vitamin C will help to relieve your dogs arthritis pain and nourish his joints. Should you want to follow up on this with me, that would be fine.
1655526 tn?1330655629 So im not crazy after all.. I have told doctors and other people that fish and omega 3 bother my arrthymia. Noone believed me but I know what happens and it isnt pretty. I stay away from it. I did find an article once that said its good for the heart but people with arrythmias it can make them go into life threating ones.
518994 tn?1212242047 I read where Omega 3 was good for your dog. Is it a different Omega 3 or is it the same that humans take?
Avatar f tn I take one to fight babybrain. Omegas are stripped from myelin shealths during pregnancy and since they act as lubricant in the conduction of, essentially thoughts, our thought process is slowed. I didn't ask my doc about it yet but it does clear up fog in my brain.
Avatar f tn you know, I haven't been taking the Omega 3 since I got pregnant - they make me nauseous. I just take my prenatals daily. I try to eat healthy(doesn't always happen) but i do try. I didnt take any Omega 3 with my other kids and their fine, so oh well.
Avatar f tn I take my prenatal pill one times a day. And It has everything I need But No omega 3 an I heard to take it 2nd or 3rd trimester. Just don't remember what was said.
Avatar m tn I took an Omega-3 supplement for the first time before going to bed last night, and when I woke up one eye was very swollen and puffy. The only allergies I have had are seasonal. Could I be allergic to the Omega-3 supplement?
Avatar m tn The only exception is tramadol which she takes rarely (had three prolapsed discs). She takes omega 3, and glucosamine with chondrotin. My mother had severe clinical depression and severe anxiety disorder and many other adverse health conditions. It all came back to nexium (acid blocker) which lowered her stomach acid.
Avatar n tn I am not sure of your question. Are you asking where omega 3 and omega 6 foods come from? Omegas 3 / 6 are polyunsaturated oils that help lower cholesterol and help prevent blood platelets from clotting blood vessel walls. The best source is fish especially mackerel, tuna, salmon, and lake trout. Fish should be eaten 2-3 times a week. Omega 3 are found in whole nuts, soy nuts / oil, and canola oil. Recommend 1-2 teaspoons of nuts daily. Hope this answered your question.
Avatar n tn ginger and glucosamine sulfate will affect coumadin (warfarin) I'm on warfarin and can't take ginger or glucosamine and a host of other supplements.
351404 tn?1299489130 I can just quote my doctor, saying the only necessary supplement is omega-3 and during the winter, vitamin D (I live in Norway, maybe lack of sunlight is less of a problem in UK), unless your blood tests show that you lack certain minerals or vitamins. If you don't lack the supplement you are taking, the only "effect" is side effects, and essentially you are just making your urine more expensive (as the body just sends out unnecessary supplements that way).
