161647 tn?1280608163 He checked her muscles and took a scan but said everything is working properly. I called her PCP to ask about her blood sugar level and he said there has never been a problem with her levels. The only thing I can think of was that my mom started taking Glucosamine last year. Can the Glucosamine affect eye vision. Or does anyone have any suggestions. My mom is worried that there is something seriously wrong because the doctor said the next step is too see a retina specialist.
Avatar m tn Glucosamine is sometimes very effective for arthritis, especially in older dogs or after injury etc. But at 5 years old, and especially as no arthritis was found, it may not be that Glucosamine will help. I don't know. Has he been checked for Cruciate ligament tear? If this IS cruciate ligament, surgery -as far as I know- is the best option. Muscle atrophy is often caused by inability to use the leg properly often because of injury or pain etc.
1093971 tn?1257833640 What form is the glucosamine in? What is the total daily dose? Are there any other ingredients? What type is the glucosamine? How pure are the ingredients? If you’re considering taking glucosamine with chondroitin you have another ballgame. Since you didn’t ask about the latter I’ll stick to glucosamine by itself. If you search the Internet you’ll see inconclusive evidence of glucosamine having negative effects on blood sugar.

Avatar n tn t tried it myself yet, only because I HATE taking pills, but have heard a few success stories about Glucosamine and Chondroitin. Another thing you can do is start physical therapy. Strengthening the muscles and tendons around the joints helps to slow the degenerative changes.
Avatar f tn Just like with us when we have pulled and tight muscles once we get up and move around we feel better. Arthritis is usually the opposite. When we have rested it feels better but as the day progresses, so does the pain. Lets say for arguments sake though that it is arthritis; the verdict still is not out on glucosamine in dogs. Their digestive systems are different enough compared to humans that we worry the glucosamine is not absorbed well.
689367 tn?1227469139 I have also been told that glucosamine (Joint supplements) is not good for your eyes and could elevate pressure. How true is that?

Avatar m tn Other than that , he still runs very much , plays a lot , loves his toys and balls , and he has never say no to me for a night walk , and is constantly waiting for me to take him out. Although on rare occasions I have noticed that some nights he wants to get back home some minutes before the 30 min. mark. He´s about 7 lbs. overweight , he´s 61 lbs now. I give him a homemade diet , with a multivitamin , calcium and fish oil. My question is , can this happening because of his older age ?
Avatar f tn If you wish to try it make sure you are not allergic to shell fish (glucosamine) or MSM (from pine tree bark) or Arnica ( arnica montana flower). You can buy MSM and arnica lotions separately and there is a glucosamine product that is made from corn but it is expensive. I am also taking vitamins which seems to be helping too.
Avatar m tn 5 pound schnauzer and has been limping a bit after exercise. I have started giving her 500 mg of glucosamine a day and wanted to know if this is the right dosage?
Avatar n tn answer regarding muscle atrophy in hind legs and the information on glucosamine and the omega fatty acids. These supplements are already being administered. Additionally, I walk my dog every morning. Granted, the walks have slowed as he has aged and the distance traveled h as lessened, but he still does get excercise. He reminds me that it's time to walk and appears to enjoy it. Is there any physcial theraphy that I can perform at home, such a leg motion - movement or stretching?
18070169 tn?1463175914 I have the beginnings of arthritis, but have been on glucosamine and that has alleviated a lot of pain, but since being on Zoloft, the pain has increased and I have had back pain. Just trying to see if others have had that being on Zoloft, or is it from my partial hysterectomy?
163305 tn?1333668571 I've had a lot of soreness in my hip joints and deep muscles. My friend swears by glucosamine. I left a message for my nurse but wondered if anyone is taking it for dealing with the sxs of tx, namely, aches and pains? Thanks.
Avatar n tn Maybe something is genetically wrong with me. When I was 33 I got my first bursitis (right shoulder). The chiropractor said the bursa are like gelatin ball-bearings in the shoulder, and when one pops, the surrounding muscles become inflamed. Now 10 years later, I have it in both shoulders, and pain when I walk, in my left arch and right ankle. Once my ring finger knuckle hurt for a year. The doc said the X-Ray showed no knuckle between the finger bones.
Avatar f tn s when he started taking the glucosamine and a week after the tube was sucked in completely , and vomiting started then doctors blamed it to glucosamine.
Avatar m tn So I done some more research and found out that magnesium reserves can be depleted from muscles without showing up in blood tests. I then found this product http://www.betteryou.com/magnesium-oil-recovery-spray the sports version as it has the most magnesium, which lets magnesium absorb through your skin directly into muscles therefore bypassing the usual stomach method of gaining nutrients, and used it for 1 week. I can honestly say after 1 week I noticed a huge benefit.
Avatar n tn First let me say I am sorry for your pain. All of us here at pain management forum can relate. Your disc may be acting up again though that would not explain the wrists. I'm assuming when you say you are having pain in your joints, muscles and bones you are talking about all over pain. If it's only been a few days and you may be experiencing a virus. At least we can hope that is the case and you will soon be feeling better.
Avatar f tn My dog is 12 year old and has arthrits and the vet told me to use glucosamine. In the summer time he does not need it. Now my dog is whimpering and shakeing, when I pet him he stops. This started a couple of days ago. The weather got really cold fast and I just started him back on glucosamine. Does this sound like the arthrits acting up or do I need to worry? How much glucosamine can I give him? I hate when my dog is in pain, I have had him since I was in kindergarden.
Avatar n tn I went to human vitamin store and got her some glucosamine supplements. I got the liquid flavored glucosamine and the glucosamine soft flavored chew. I know some cannot swallow pills. My dog eats the chews if I slightly warm them. She will not touch the liquid. I would rather put a pill in some meat or something. It is much easier for her to take. I put her back on a food with glucosamine and she isnt having any problems. I learned my lesson about changing foods.
