( X-rays and MRI ) I would suggest you to continue physical exercise with proper footwear and also limit pressure at your knee. You can go for swimming if you can and also follow up with an orthopedician for proper diagnosis and try to achieve normal BMI. Take care!
Avatar f tn I just recently started taking glucosamine and Chondroitin to help my knee recover from a dislocated patella. but for some reason my contact lenses have become very dry is that a side effect of the glucosamine??. I have used this type of soft contacts for a long time but never experienced this problem. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Can an hbv patient take glucosamine and chondroitine supplement for knee pain and effusion.
Avatar n tn s aches and pains. Standing and bending all day can be stressful on the knee and ankle and maybe they are telling you that they are tired and need rest. There are many good herbs and vitamin suppliments on the market today designed to help in the management of muscles and joints. One that is good for joints is called Glucosamine. This is an amino acid that is naturally found in the body and sometimes the body needs a boost.
Avatar f tn The supplement is used to help the body make more cartilage, and to reduce pain; in the knee for example. There is controversy as to how helpful this supplement is in improving arthritic knee pain, but some patients do report benefit with long-term use.
Avatar f tn Your mom will need to take 150mg glucosamine for the rest of her life if she has osteoarthritis. It keeps the joints and their connective tissues lubricated, as they dry up as we age. Some people respond quickly, and others feel no effect at all. There are also exercises that help. The main thing is not to let the joints seize up. Keep active.
Avatar m tn I take them because of chronic disc problems and a bad knee. You have to take them between meals; if you take them at mealtime it will just act to digest the protein you just ate, whereas for antiinflammatory purposes you want it to digest the crud that forms around joints and muscles that partially cause inflammation. (Very scientific term, crud, eh? There is a word for it, but I forget what it is).
Avatar n tn Years ago I had a lot of cortisone injections in my R. knee and I believe that is why I have had the problems now with that knee, (deterioration of the cartilage). I had surgery on the knee and am hesitant to use injections that over a long time may cause damage (like what happened, I believe due to the cortisone injections) Are there any long term studies related to the synvisc injections and possible long term damage to the knee?
Avatar f tn MRI says- severe bone bruising and bleeding, micro fractures of tibia, 2 complex menus all tears-anterior and posterior, grade2-3 cartilage thinning, fluid above knee and in knee behind patella, bathers cyst, ligament strain, some bone growth and early osteoarthritis. What the hell do I do- I am thinking lose weight, swim, take chondritin, glucosamine, vitamin c, see a knee surgeon... what I DONt want is a knee replacement. It is a bit stiff, swollen and aches.
Avatar n tn I put her back on a food with glucosamine and she isnt having any problems. I learned my lesson about changing foods. My vet said it was ok to get human vitamins for them. He also said it was ok to feed food with glucosamine plus the vitamins.
Avatar f tn It may be arthritis....in which case many people have luck with Celebrex...however, you'd need a Rx for that......I've had multiple knee surgeries and my Ortho surgeon suggested that I try Osteo BiFlex (glucosamine and chondrointin) which seems to have helped immensely with arthritis pain (yes, I'm only 34 but have had problems with my knee since I was 21 due to a bad surgery the 1st time around)....You can get that at Walmart.....

Avatar m tn I have acid reflux disease and esophagus problems as well. Is it safe to take all this Ibuprofen with the stomach problems I have, or should I talk to my Dr. about possibly prescribing another medication? Would it be safer to go back to Meloxicam or try something like Celebrex? Thanks very much!
Avatar m tn Hi I have a 6 year old Pit Bull he was diagnosed with mid line hip dysplasia and knee arthritis and the veterinarian prescribed him the generic for Rimadyl which is Carproxen. Now he has been taking this medecine for about 3 months. The veterinarian told me that before he refills another bottle of Carproxen my dog Bowzer will need to have a liver blood test done to make sure his liver is not being affected because this medecine can have a negative reaction in some dogs.
Avatar n tn ginger and glucosamine sulfate will affect coumadin (warfarin) I'm on warfarin and can't take ginger or glucosamine and a host of other supplements.
441382 tn?1452810569 I had the same question a while back, in the Spring. Misty had been showing a bit of possible arthritis in her right hind leg which was broken once. I asked the vet about this because I didn't want to pay premium prices for a "pet brand" Glucosamine, and he said Glucosamine is exactly the same substance, whether it's formulated in a preparation for dogs, or people. And Chondroitin is the same. I believe they are both natural substances obtained from shellfish.
Avatar n tn I am 65... and yes I have Osteoarthrits... I am really sure that having a knee replaced will not make easy to stand for any lenght of time.. or get up from a sitting position... I hope I have made this problem clear... I just feel my body has to many problems based on the weight... to have a knee replacement help at this point....
Avatar n tn I do know the Glucosamine/Chondroitin Tablets Double Strength 3 a day have helped my knee arthritis a little bit. I do see a difference if I stop taking it. I have not had any back pain, but I am having pain down the front of my leg and cannot lift it or the pain goes into my groin. Everyone is telling me that its from my back being unaligned, even if it does not hurt. It is expensive, and its up to you if you want to try it.
Avatar f tn I feel like the inside of my knee is on fire, sometimes when I walk it feels like someone is pulling down and my knee, and I cant bend it. It cracks and I hear a loud click at random times. the pain is sometimes barable, but can get to be excrutiating where I just want to sie!! I cant sleep because every position I get into hurts. What could it be?
Avatar n tn You've really had a lot of work done for your age. I had my first arthro surgery when I was about 43. Since then, I've had the other knee scoped, in 2008. After the 2008 surgery, I had pain all the time. both legs. Even at night when I wasn't doing anything. Both knees hurt all the time. We tried all the things you have tried; shots for cartilage; cortisone shot; pain meds for a short time(he didn't want me to continue);otc pain meds, glucosamine complex, etc.

Avatar n tn Have been reading other's experiences of cold knees. Mine started with one knee and was kind of an odd sensation in the depth of the knee that kept me awake at night and could not be relieved with painkillers or external warmth like a sock over the knee. It has just got progressively worse over the years and now in two knees and more intense, can't sleep or go back to sleep when woken in the night from it.
Avatar m tn he has been diagnosed with knee luxation and has no pain that we are aware of he just wont go up and down 2 stairs or jump anymore..
Avatar m tn You may not have a problem now, but working on the computer non stop can cause upper limb problems from your neck right down to your arms and hands as well as cause circulation problems in your lower limbs if you sit with your legs crossed. Glaring at the screen non stop can cause dry eye and irritation to the eyes as well as getting headaches and backaches due to not sitting correctly.
Avatar m tn Thank you so much for you reply geminigirl1963 and for sharing your own experience. I saw my x ray and basically my right knee and my left knee are very different. I mean the distance between the bones has narrowed in the right knee quite considerably. May I ask is there anything I can do to strengthen the cartilage in the right knee to avoid a possibly inevitable operation?
