Glucosamine msm knee problems

Common Questions and Answers about Glucosamine msm knee problems

glucosamine

Avatar f tn Glucosamine/ Chondroitin/ MSM is generally used when there is suspected arthritis. The supplement is used to help the body make more cartilage, and to reduce pain; in the knee for example. There is controversy as to how helpful this supplement is in improving arthritic knee pain, but some patients do report benefit with long-term use.
Avatar n tn You should also ask your vet about proper dosages of over-the-counter glucosamine, chondroiting and/or MSM. You can find these supplements already mixed together at your pet store, but it tends to be a lot cheaper to buy them at a human pharmacy. These supplements are a very effective preventive at keeping your dog's joints in good shape for a longer period of time than if you didn't use them, and will hopefully keep a possible hip surgery from being necessary.
1327032 tn?1288840755 Wow I have to say I have been pretty much sx free and today my knee joint started acheing bad! I put a benjay like patch on my knee tonight. I hope that is ok on tx what else can I do to make it feel better?
Avatar f tn MSM is an herbal remedy. Methylsulfonylmethane. It is for joint pain/support, but it also helps regrow hair and is good for asthma, arthritis, allergies and Fibromyalgia. Some people claim that it helps with headaches and heartburn. Doesn't help my heartburn - but does help me with the inflammation from Fibromyalgia.
Avatar f tn The only thing I have been able to do to keep the inflamation down is applying a lotion that contains Glucosamine, MSM and Arnica made by NOW. It took a few weeks before I noticed a big difference. The reason being these ingredients take time to build up in your system and because they actually heal the areas to some degree it takes longer. I also have to watch my diet and stay clear of foods that I am allergic to that can cause inflamation.
Avatar m tn I take them because of chronic disc problems and a bad knee. You have to take them between meals; if you take them at mealtime it will just act to digest the protein you just ate, whereas for antiinflammatory purposes you want it to digest the crud that forms around joints and muscles that partially cause inflammation. (Very scientific term, crud, eh? There is a word for it, but I forget what it is).
Avatar m tn s fish oil with enhanced DHA and EPA (15 grams daily), megadose vitamin E, and megadose glucosamine+chondroitin+MSM daily for anti inflammatory effects for my joint and tendon problems. I am looking to treat trauma of the brachial tendon to treat pain during bicep workouts by using a glucosamine cream. I have heard anecdotally that the cream format increases bio-availability by a staggering amount and that the oral supplement is essentially a snake oil product.

1110049 tn?1409402144 I take glucosomine with chondrotin and MSM, and Omega 3. Is cod liver supplements better than omega 3? I have read about Krill oil. Has anybody tried that? Also a neighbour said Green Lipped Mussel helps her back pain. What do people here take to relieve their arthritis pain?
398377 tn?1201534325 Some of them, yes. Glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM found with the "people" meds are fine for dogs. Just make sure to check with your vet on dosages. There are also senior dog foods that contain varying amounts of these ingredients you may want to try as well. You could also check with Dr. Cheng on the Pet Health board here at Med Help for dosages. Does your dog have osteoarthritis or something more serious like hip dysplasia?
694961 tn?1228732588 vitamin c in large doses (buffered kind), msm, hyaluronic acid, and the combo of magnesium and B-1 (thiamin) can help relax muscles in the back, a little known but often effective avenue to try. i had one major success with that in someone with DDD. green-lipped mussel and all that shark cartilage is often the raw materials for glucosamine and is nothing special in my own opinion, but if it works use it.
Avatar n tn I take a good multivitamin plus calcium, magnesium, zinc, Vit. E, B complex. I also take the glucosamine/condronitin and MSM for my knee arthritis. And Fish Oil. I don't know if any of it really helps, but I do it anyway. If I feel like I'm getting a cold, I take extra Vitamin C.
572823 tn?1217209089 After several reports that MSM helped arthritis in animal models, a double-blind, placebo-controlled study suggested that 1500 mg per day MSM (alone or in combination with glucosamine sulfate) was helpful in relieving symptoms of knee osteoarthritis (Usha and Naidu 2004). Kim et al. then conducted a double-blind clinical trial of MSM for treatment of patients with osteoarthritis of the knee. Twenty-five patients took 6 g/day MSM and 25 patients took a placebo for 12 weeks.
Avatar m tn 21century, product: k9 maximum joint health). At my work (agriculture supplies) we have a formula for horses. 50ml dose Glucosamine is HCI (10,000mg) Chondroitin is shark cartilage (1,000mg) MSM (2,000mg) Boswellia (4,000mg) Yucca (500mg) a one liter bottle is $40 and would last almost a year at 750mg glucosamine doses. My question is can I use this for my dog, are the supplement ratios okay?
Avatar f tn Do you take any supplements such at Glucosamine/Chondroitin/MSM? They work great for me. As long as I take them every single day. My bones/joints would get so back I could barely walk, and I could tell if it was going to rain anytime soon because they would hurt even more! The Glucosamine really helped! Also a good calcium supplement. If these thinks don't help over a few week period I'd talk to your Primary Dr. about other possibilities. Good luck, I hope this helped!
Avatar m tn My dog weighed 28-30lbs and the correct dose for her was 500mg Glucosamine per day. The vet said the 'human' Glucosamine was fine to use, so long as the dosage was correct for the dog's weight. So it depends what your dog's weight is, how much you can increase the dose. As far as I can make out, dogs (and humans too) respond differently to Glucosamine. With some there are great results, and with some, not much improvement. You could mention this to your vet perhaps.
1295500 tn?1272459927 Hi, my questions is I have a 9 year old collie, Sheppard, husky mix dog she's probably about 90 lbs now. She seems to be having a lot of problem with her back legs. Some days she seems fine and other days she can barely get up off the floor and when she does her back legs shake. Right now what's happening is she is holding one of her legs up and walking on three legs.
1388999 tn?1370042814 MSM is methylsulfonylmethane! Probably why it goes by msm lol! You can get it at drugstores in the supplement section, or in better pet shops. The human grade is the cheapest. You can give as a capsule or just dump it on the food. Hope it helps!
765775 tn?1366024691 And neither SAMe nor MSM is likely to work alone -- natural remedies usually have to be taken in combination for synergy to maximize results. A typical combination would be MSM, glucosamine and chondroitan sulphate, and anti-inflammatories such as bromelain, a protein-digesting enzyme, ginger and turmeric. See Prescriptions for Nutritional Healing for more detailed options.
Avatar m tn But an analysis of studies looking at glucosamine or chondroitin for osteoarthritis in the hip or knee did not show that these supplements slow joint destruction or relieve pain. It's kind of gone by the wayside. It was found to not be the wonder supplement it was once thought to be. Multiple studies revealed that they will not help you more than a placebo. However there are still ppl that swear they help them.
Avatar n tn Check into MSM, along with the glucosamine and hyaluronic acid. No chondroitin?

1239564 tn?1268168890 Have discomfort behind both knees although a little more severe in the right knee. Has been getting worse gradually. It's very hard for me to get up and stand up from a seated position. This includes in the morning getting up out of bed. Almost impossible to get out of the tub. Takes me a long time to negotiate the stairs when going down them. Sometimes feel like my leg will give way. Feel a little crunching too.
163305 tn?1333668571 Use the combination Glucosamine, MSM, Chondroitin. You can usually find it sold combined in that way. I use it for arthritis of knees and it helps. Glucosamine by itself didn't do anything for me.
