I just recently started taking glucosamine and Chondroitin to help my knee recover from a dislocated patella. but for some reason my contact lenses have become very dry is that a side effect of the glucosamine??. I have used this type of soft contacts for a long time but never experienced this problem. Thanks.
My arthritis was really bad just before being diagnosed hypo and starting levo. It improved tremendously once my FT3 and FT4 returned to higher levels. I was amazed how much of it was thyroid related.
TSHxx, you'll definitely be living with the hypothyroidism for the rest of your life. Have you been tested for thyroid antibodies, TPOab and TGab? Elevated levels of one or both of these can indicate Hashi's, which, like RA, is an autoimmune disease.
ginger and glucosamine sulfate will affect coumadin (warfarin) I'm on warfarin and can't take ginger or glucosamine and a host of other supplements.
If you wish to try it make sure you are not allergic to shell fish (glucosamine) or MSM (from pine tree bark) or Arnica ( arnica montana flower). You can buy MSM and arnica lotions separately and there is a glucosamine product that is made from corn but it is expensive. I am also taking vitamins which seems to be helping too.

Glucosamine is sometimes very effective for arthritis, especially in older dogs or after injury etc.
But at 5 years old, and especially as no arthritis was found, it may not be that Glucosamine will help. I don't know.
Has he been checked for Cruciate ligament tear? If this IS cruciate ligament, surgery -as far as I know- is the best option.

My dog is 12 year old and has arthrits and the vet told me to use glucosamine. In the summer time he does not need it. Now my dog is whimpering and shakeing, when I pet him he stops. This started a couple of days ago. The weather got really cold fast and I just started him back on glucosamine. Does this sound like the arthrits acting up or do I need to worry? I went to human vitamin store and got her some glucosamine supplements. I got the liquid flavored glucosamine and the glucosamine soft flavored chew. I know some cannot swallow pills. My dog eats the chews if I slightly warm them. She will not touch the liquid. I would rather put a pill in some meat or something. It is much easier for her to take. I put her back on a food with glucosamine and she isnt having any problems. I learned my lesson about changing foods.
