1093971 tn?1257833640 What form is the glucosamine in? What is the total daily dose? Are there any other ingredients? What type is the glucosamine? How pure are the ingredients? If you’re considering taking glucosamine with chondroitin you have another ballgame. Since you didn’t ask about the latter I’ll stick to glucosamine by itself. If you search the Internet you’ll see inconclusive evidence of glucosamine having negative effects on blood sugar.

Avatar m tn Other than that , he still runs very much , plays a lot , loves his toys and balls , and he has never say no to me for a night walk , and is constantly waiting for me to take him out. Although on rare occasions I have noticed that some nights he wants to get back home some minutes before the 30 min. mark. He´s about 7 lbs. overweight , he´s 61 lbs now. I give him a homemade diet , with a multivitamin , calcium and fish oil. My question is , can this happening because of his older age ?
Avatar f tn I just recently started taking glucosamine and Chondroitin to help my knee recover from a dislocated patella. but for some reason my contact lenses have become very dry is that a side effect of the glucosamine??. I have used this type of soft contacts for a long time but never experienced this problem. Thanks.
Avatar n tn 5-2 hrs. or after I do my daily exercise (stretch or Nordic Track). In 2006 I took Glucosamine Chondroytin and the pain seemed to disappear, only to come back in May this year, 2008. This time I got the thigh pain back for sitting for hours doing computer work on a chair with hard wood seat. Again the pain would migrate later in the morning from thigh to my shinbone area. I took the same amount of Glucosamine Chondroytin as in 2006 but it doesn't help this time.

Avatar f tn Candice woke up from a deep sleep whinning, wimpering and limping. She is an inside dog and we don't get much exercise, not by choice. She is 15 lbs overweight. Prior her limping issue I had taken her to her Vett to trim her toenails when the Vett mentioned her quivering when she was touched. I thought she just "did that". She said it COULD be indicative of pain and sent us home 1. On a diet. 2. Joint health chews. 3. Keep her as still as possible.
Avatar f tn If you wish to try it make sure you are not allergic to shell fish (glucosamine) or MSM (from pine tree bark) or Arnica ( arnica montana flower). You can buy MSM and arnica lotions separately and there is a glucosamine product that is made from corn but it is expensive. I am also taking vitamins which seems to be helping too.
Avatar n tn m taking Ameriden Olive Leaf Extract - 6 caps a day, I was instructed to take only this brand. Plus Glucosamine 1500mg 3 X a day and hyaluronic acid (cushions joint) 100mg 3X a day. It'a lot of pills but would rather do that than take drugs with bad side-effects (had really bad reaction to Celebrex). You can go to the website Arthritis Help For Me ******* for more info. I am trying to follow an alkaline pH diet as much as poss - but it's not easy, do drink alkaline water tho'.

1239564 tn?1268168890 ( X-rays and MRI ) I would suggest you to continue physical exercise with proper footwear and also limit pressure at your knee. You can go for swimming if you can and also follow up with an orthopedician for proper diagnosis and try to achieve normal BMI. Take care!
Avatar n tn OA is a degenerative disease and, at this time, there is nothing to stop it from advancing. The best thing you can do is maintain a proper weight and exercise but don't over use damaged joints.
Avatar f tn Been 10 years now and I never did go back for surgery! I took Glucosamine for many years and amazingly enough no trouble! Only when I stopped taking it when I had the thyroid surgery did the pains come back. I lost a lot of weight and have had no need to go back to the glucosamine since. Having said all that, I learned from my physio at the time that certain activities can cause more pain to knees. For me it is bike riding...so I no longer do that. Walking down steep grades causes pain.
Avatar m tn Glucosamine is sometimes very effective for arthritis, especially in older dogs or after injury etc. But at 5 years old, and especially as no arthritis was found, it may not be that Glucosamine will help. I don't know. Has he been checked for Cruciate ligament tear? If this IS cruciate ligament, surgery -as far as I know- is the best option. Muscle atrophy is often caused by inability to use the leg properly often because of injury or pain etc.
428155 tn?1203688894 2) I am said that there is no way to assess the current thinness of my blood. I am taking supplements (glucosamine, bilberry) and my health shop tells me that they thin the blood. So maybe my blood is already thin enough and I can avoid warfarine. Is it true that there is no way to assess the blood's thinness?

Avatar n tn answer regarding muscle atrophy in hind legs and the information on glucosamine and the omega fatty acids. These supplements are already being administered. Additionally, I walk my dog every morning. Granted, the walks have slowed as he has aged and the distance traveled h as lessened, but he still does get excercise. He reminds me that it's time to walk and appears to enjoy it. Is there any physcial theraphy that I can perform at home, such a leg motion - movement or stretching?
1360851 tn?1277581906 I wouldn't, it's a very hot herb. Best bet is to buy the caps standardized for circumin. And it's best to combine things, no one thing is that strong naturally.
Avatar f tn My dog is 12 year old and has arthrits and the vet told me to use glucosamine. In the summer time he does not need it. Now my dog is whimpering and shakeing, when I pet him he stops. This started a couple of days ago. The weather got really cold fast and I just started him back on glucosamine. Does this sound like the arthrits acting up or do I need to worry? How much glucosamine can I give him? I hate when my dog is in pain, I have had him since I was in kindergarden.
Avatar n tn I went to human vitamin store and got her some glucosamine supplements. I got the liquid flavored glucosamine and the glucosamine soft flavored chew. I know some cannot swallow pills. My dog eats the chews if I slightly warm them. She will not touch the liquid. I would rather put a pill in some meat or something. It is much easier for her to take. I put her back on a food with glucosamine and she isnt having any problems. I learned my lesson about changing foods.
