glipizide and weight loss

I was losing weight, but now the glipizide is keeping me at the same weight. Has anyone had the experience that is the same? and is there a lower does that anyone has still been able to lose weight with? and yes I'm on a low carb diet and excercise plan. I'm doing better with this than I did before and I lost 33 pounds. It's the glipizide. also when do people take there dose, I may cut down to one pill a day to see if its helps me.

I routinely have blood sugars in the 150 range my A!C has been 7.7 and 8.2. I was suppose to have some foot surgery, but it was cancel because of the A1c. It is the 1st time I was told I couldn't have surgery because of the diabetes. My regular doctor signed off on me having surgery. The foot surgeon wouldn't do it. I just didn't think my blood sugar level was of any concern.

I am a type 2 diabetic and I concerned about fasting (religious) and taking glipizide. I have been on metformin for over 14 years and have had to recently add glucotrol to my regimen. I do not have any low blood sugar symptoms at all and I am scared of the time I have to restrain from eating. Is any one else ever dealt with this?

Due to a lot of weight gain. My doctor took me off actos and put me on glumetza. I also take glipizide. The gulmetza does not seem to be working for me. My sugars are in the 200 + - range. Is there another generation 1 or 2 diabetes medicine that I can take with the glipizide that will work as good as the actos did and not cost so much? I would like to get off the glumetza. I am really thinking about asking the doctor to put me back on insulin (novolin R). Thank you for your input.

I take Metformin Extended Release 1000 mg two times a day and Glipizide 10mg two times a day. Still the numbers are almost same at 170 and sometimes crossing 200. I do moderate exercise. Any suggestions?

changed my diet to limit carbs and loss weight. I now walk everyday. A1C is now in the normal range for 3 yrs now. It went from 6.7 to 5.3 where it has stayed for 3 yrs. I did loss 100 lbs. tho and have keep it off for 3 yrs as well.

is glipizide 10mg the same as glyburide 5mg / because my husband was drinking the gyburide and when we went for the new prescription it had changed to glipizide and he hasn't felt good since the change do i call his doctor

I have elevated liver enzymes due to hepatic adenoma. Currently taking glipizide for high blood sugar, but is causing side effects. Weight gain, extreme low blood sugar, restless sleep. What can I take instead that will not affect the liver?

of the ingestion. they started a glucose drip and fed him graham crackers and gator aide and monitored him overnight. My question is .....could it be his glucose level was already low secondary to a developing diabetes type I or can that medicine act that quickly. I also take 500mg metformin after a meal(breakfast and dinner) and was advised to take 5mg glipizide before meals (breakfast and lunch) but sometimes I measure my bs before and notice it's sometimes 70-90 . A little about me: I don't eat at regular intervals, I don't snack , I have 3 meals a day . Wake up at 530 go to work, eat breakfast at 9 and then my lunch around 12 , dinner between 5-630. I had to get a medication from the doctor to stop the bleeding and the little weight I had loss came back. Once I got the bleeding under control and I continued the Metformin I found the weight was slowly coming off (I do mean slowly) since last August I have lost about 30 lbs mostly with the Metformin and trying to eat better. My suggestion to you is see you doctor about the bleeding because that isn't normal and don't give up.

t work for me and I was put on Glipizide. We are monitoring that for now to see if it is more successful in keeping the blood sugar in line. I have begun a structured exercise program at a gym, which should help tremendously in controlling the sugar level combined with a healthy diet. Hang in there and be sure to always consult your doctor before making any changes.

m a 22 year old with steroid induced diabetes and my blood sugar has been in the lows of 42-60, I ate and had some glucose gel which brought it into the 80's but about an hour later it dropped again to 42 where I had symptoms of extreme hunger, shakiness,heaviness in my legs and sweating. I'm worried its going to crash into the night and I could go into a diabetic coma during sleep, if thats possible?

I am on 3 tablets a day of each of Glipizide (5mg) and Metformin (500mg). I take the Glipizide equally spaced out during the day but the Metformin one at lunchtime and two with my evening meal as instructed.

am now taking glipizide 5 mg along with colestipol 1gr twice daily and gabapentin 300mg 3 times daily and my blood sugar levels are staying high. First time on all these meds and my sugar levels were fine on lisonpril. Could one of thse being causing the high readings. My diet is the same if not lower in sugar and calories.

You do not want to end up in a situation where you cannot treat and will need a new liver.... and then have to do tx after that too. And then, we are not getting younger... The risk of postponing tx is a loss of ca 2% of possibility to be cured per year. And you are just a year past the magic number. I'm sorry I'm butting in on the treatment issue. Am just concerned.

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a year prior to HCV. I've used metformin, glipizide and actos (pioglitizone) for eight years now for DM2 management; including during both HCV treatments. I was eventually successful with interferon therapy, for what it's worth. I can't comment on the victoza; I have no personal experience with it. Reducing insulin resistance might be critical to succesful inteferon-based therapy as well.

I agree, go back to the hospital and ask for insulin. Read up and educate both yourself and your husband on how and when to use it, especially on dosage times.
