Avatar m tn Yes, acute HIV infection can start within three days. However, shooting pain and diarrhea can be due to viral or bacterial gastroenteritis or stomach flu as well. I suggest, you get stool examined for infection. Take an OTC lactobacillus preparation (probiotics) and yoghurt with your meals, after giving the stool sample for examination Drink plenty of fluids (clear soups, water, ORS in water, lemonade).
Avatar n tn My daughter is 14 months old and she has has watery diarrhea and vomitting. When she was born she was perfectly healthy, but once I had to return to work I began to give her formula and that's when she began to have these complications. She began to have watery diarrhea and vomit. I took her to the doctor and they said she had gastroenteritis, but it's been a while now and she is still the same? Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? Thank you.
Avatar f tn About two months ago I started with sudden diarrhea and went to see an internal specialist who gave me an antibiotic for a possible bacterial infection. Since then the diarrhea is not how it was before, but my stool is still very loose and in smaller pieces. It is also sort of mucus-like. I also get excessive gas that ends up odorless... like I'm full of just air. It is sometimes moving around so fiercely in my stomach that it is very loud and I can feel it almost in my back.
Avatar n tn Hi It could be a case of food poisoning or just a case of bacterial or viral gastroenteritis. Please drink plenty of fluids and take a light diet. Replenish the salts in your diet. Consult your doctor. You may need to take some tests like stool and urine examination. Please watch your urine color. A urine examination will detect any loss of blood however microscopic. In case there is blood loss, it will need to be looked into. Generalized infection can at times cause blood in urine.

Avatar f tn Symptoms usually last just a day or two, but occasionally they may persist as long as 10 days. Because the symptoms are similar, it is easy to confuse diarrhea caused by viruses with diarrhea caused by bacteria (e.g., Clostridium difficile, salmonella, and E. coli) or parasites (e.g., giardia). If your symptoms persist, see your doctor for further workup and management.
Avatar n tn A viral infection may be very likely, given that this is associated with the diarrhea. This may also be a bacterial infection such as impetigo caused by Staphylococcus aureus or Strep pyogenes. Although at this point, impetigo may not be likely given that this usually affects children. Other differentials will be a dermatitis or an eczematous disease. I suggest that you discuss with your physician if a gram stain of the discharge may be done to help identify the organism which causes this.
591925 tn?1218982710 I did a little searching on "Gastritis" and found some symptoms that were close to mine. But it did say if there was also diarrhea involved (which I have) that "Gastroenteritis" might be the right diagnosis. And my symptoms also were close to that of "Giardiasis" so I'm a little confused as to what to expect to hear from the doctor, but I'm going to make an appointment Monday morning since these all can be caused by infections/virus/bacteria, etc.

Avatar n tn Long story short they said it was gastroenteritis. They cleared me from any bacterial infections and advised this would clear in a few days. I see no sign of that occurring. I beyond scared. My test results revealed that I have low lymphocytes and neutrophils are normal along with elevated monocytes. My wbc count is in the normal range but it also climbed more than 2 points since my last visit a little over a month ago.
Avatar n tn Hi Dr HHH, I'd posted a question a few months ago in regards to my daughter. She has a blood transfusion (4 units) and I was concerned about possible HIV exposure. After being told by you no worries because everything is tested thoroughly now but if I was still worried to talk to her Dr. I spoke with her Dr. about my concerns. He tested her at 3.5 weeks and it was negative. He also told me no worries he was 99.
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum, the possibilities in your case are gastroenteritis (often with diarrhea), a reaction to a medication, lactose intolerance (difficulty digesting the lactose in milk), indigestion, gas formation, infection, obstruction etc. We can not diagnose the exact cause without medical findings. You need to undergo stool examination and ultrasound to rule out the exact cause. Also take light food, maintain water balance as you may get dehydrated.
Avatar f tn I went to the doc after 5 days. He said its just viral gastroenteritis. I looked up the condition and it says you have vomiting and/or diarrhea, but i have neither. I am worried it is appendicitis, but the appendix is on the right side, not left. I am really in pain but i am taking my meds as described. Does this sound like viral gastroenteritis to you? I am in such severe pain just laying here typing this and barely moving.. Please help. Thank you.

3166043 tn?1514260018 I had a random bout of diarrhea around 10pm (it's 2:35 now) and i can't stop worrying about it. I had a pretty large slurpee from a conveince store and then about a hour or so later my stomach started making noises and it felt like my intestines were on fire. Was it from that? Im thinking i have ink poisoning from my tattoo that i got yesterday. I haven't gone again. I ate a whole bag of sweet chili heat Doritos but that was 2 days ago so it can't be that?
