Fosamax side effects jaw

Common Questions and Answers about Fosamax side effects jaw

fosamax

Avatar m tn My wife is a 65 year old in good health who has taken FOSAMAX for 5 1/2 years. She wants to get her teeth straightened. The periodontist has recommended a procedure to reinforce the gums prior to the braces. This has added an additional 6K to the price and about 3 months to the total time to straighten the teeth.
Avatar n tn What did your prescribing doctor say about the side effects caused by the Fosamax and how to deal with it? I understand your feelings about how the facial pain affects your quality of life. Because it's something people can't see -- it's sometimes hard for our families/friends to understand. It took me a long while to get my husband to understand what I was dealing with, with symptomatic TN.
Avatar f tn I know that the liver processes all drugs and reading the side effects is scaring me. I have stage 2 fibrosis and failed the traditional interferon/ribavirin treatment already.
Avatar n tn Good morning, I saw my Dr. this morning and he would like to start taking fosamax, after reading all the side effects i'm not sure i should.
Avatar n tn No I am not, I am only on tapazole, don't have a problem with bones yet, I am going to have surgery on feb 6
Avatar f tn I was put on fosamax about a year ago for. In Oct 2011 my teeth started falling out. I always had good teeth until then. Just had 4 pulled. The day after I had a bad infection in the top of my mouth. Its been 3 wks mouth is just now getting better. My question is. Is fosamax the reason my teeth falling out.
Avatar f tn I saw a Professor of Endocrinology in Feb 2008, referred by my bc surgeon, as this guy has an academic interest in side effects of Arimidex. He suggested I continue with Arimidex and Fosamax to prevent further bone loss, but I cannot stand the pain and disturbance to my sleep. Does anyone have any experience of stopping Arimidex and getting a different med that does not have the side effect of bone pain?
Avatar n tn I understand what you are saying. You are noticing behavior similar to what I have noticed in my husband. It is difficult to explain to anyone else, but you know what is normal for him. It can be difficult at times when you relied on him to take care of certain things and now you aren't sure whether you can. Six years ago my husband had a cancerous lump removed from under his right jawbone and underwent 8 weeks of radiation.
Avatar n tn The reason for the change was because of severe side effects. Dizziness, tremors, jaw pain, loud ringing in ears, nausea were the main issues. Now being off the med for 13 days, and have been off of work since Feb. 3rd, I continue to have problems. I cannot drive or even ride in a vehicle without getting severe dizziness. This also happens when watching TV when fast movements cross the screen.
Avatar n tn To Nee08 Thank you for the reply, is nice to know that someone else out there was having the same problem as me. I also stopped taking the medication for bone health too. You may be interested in reading an article about it written by an ob-gyn on this website, I forgot her name, but you can get it here. Very very interesting, and I'm sorry that I started taking it in the first place without questioning its side effects.
Avatar f tn Hello Emanuelle, I definitely feel for your concern. Although I am 36 I have pretty severe osteoporosis and at one time was recommended to take medication for it. I have several spinal injuries which have resulted in Degenerative Disk Disease, other joint syndromes and overall bone density loss. I had not personally heard of the the fractures (femur) from the Fosamax, but I did hear of the other risk factors for some of the older drugs.
Avatar f tn I'm new to this site. I was diagnosed hypothyroid eight months ago. At the time I didn't really have a lot of symptoms - before that, my doctor was investigating why my cholesterol level was so high, as my diet/weight etc are all pretty good. I spent six months trying to bring the cholesterol into the normal range - and succeeded (although it's still on the high side - the doc was happy) just by cutting down on dairy foods. When my TSH level was discovered to be 5.
Avatar n tn As with all medications, you may experience side effects when you take WELLBUTRIN XL. Side effects may be more common shortly after you start treatment. The most common side effects with WELLBUTRIN XL are weight loss, loss of appetite, dry mouth, skin rash, sweating, ringing in the ears, shakiness, stomach pain, agitation, anxiety, dizziness, trouble sleeping, muscle pain, nausea, fast heartbeat, sore throat, and urinating more often.
Avatar n tn I've noticed that after 3 months of daily prednisone that I have developed hair on my upper lip and jaw line. Has anyone else experienced side effects like this? I don't see how it will go away on it's own. How do you treat unwanted facial hair? This is quite upsetting to me. Thanks!
Avatar f tn While difficulty swallowing isn't listed as a side effect of Fosamax, it is possible. When you put foreign chemcals into the body its hard to predict how it will react, everybody's different. Don't stop taking it without your doctor or pharmacists direction, but do contact either of them and explain what is going on and why you think its connected. They can advise you from there.
Avatar f tn Hi -- thanks for the quick response! did the effects go away simply by stopping fosamax and if so, how long did that take?

Avatar n tn m not sure about Reclast, but I do know that Prolia comes with a whole set of possible side effects. I looked into these for my elderly aunt, who had tried Boniva and Actonel, unsuccessfully. It's best to have all dental work done prior to taking these medications, as they cause issues with dental procedures. I don't know the details on that, but they did tell us to make sure she would need no dental work while on the drugs.
Avatar m tn I worry about 2 things right now-- what if the bone tumor is something else and not fibrous dysplasia, and the bisphosphonates make it worse by causing a more heavy calcification? What about the side effects of such a drug on someone who is only 31 yrs old?
Avatar n tn I have been prescribed Acebutolol for PVC's and I am literally exhausted since beginning this medication but I didn't see that as one of the side effects. Also, my vision is blurred. Is this normal?
