Fosamax long term effects

Common Questions and Answers about Fosamax long term effects

fosamax

Avatar n tn HI I believe that fosamax is a PPI which after long term use can affect vitamin and mineral absorbtion from natural means as well as suppliments. Most PPI's help heal the lining of ur esophagus ....ur Dr or pharmacist should be able to help u with this question. In addition to taking meds, u do need to adjust ur lifestyle and diet.....please see the Health Pages here on MedHelp. U will find a list of foods to avoid and foods that r safe, plus lifestyle tips.
Avatar m tn My wife is a 65 year old in good health who has taken FOSAMAX for 5 1/2 years. She wants to get her teeth straightened. The periodontist has recommended a procedure to reinforce the gums prior to the braces. This has added an additional 6K to the price and about 3 months to the total time to straighten the teeth.
Avatar n tn What did your prescribing doctor say about the side effects caused by the Fosamax and how to deal with it? I understand your feelings about how the facial pain affects your quality of life. Because it's something people can't see -- it's sometimes hard for our families/friends to understand. It took me a long while to get my husband to understand what I was dealing with, with symptomatic TN.
Avatar f tn Thank you so much for your response. Osteoporosis is a horrible disease, but many of the treatments have side effects which are even worse. It's not that I don't trust doctors, but they rely on information supplied by drug companies who are out to make a profit. And the long-term effects of some of the drugs used for treatment aren't even known yet. I'm still undecided about taking Evista.
Avatar f tn Hi -- thanks for the quick response! did the effects go away simply by stopping fosamax and if so, how long did that take?
Avatar f tn I'm glad that you have decided to use Fosamax for only a couple years. I'd also like to suggest the website "Save Our Bones" which endorses a more natural approach to strengthening bones instead of using bisphosphonates. (Boniva, Fosamax, Actonel etc) One of the reasons we lose mineral density in our bones is because of the highly acidic diets we consume.
7163794 tn?1457366813 myself to get up? Is this in my head, or is it possible there are long term effects to pain meds and suboxone use? Could it just be me? Has anyone else felt this?
Avatar f tn Does anyone know the long term effects of abusing pain killers? I found out today that a friend of my husbands actually had seizures because of how long she was on vicodin. Just curious.
Avatar n tn What are the long term effects? Now that the issue is resolved. what can we do to head off any long term problems from this?
Avatar m tn s dopamine structure and that i will never be happy again or feel as good as before i began the drug use. can anybody tell me what some of the long-term effects maybe and weather i will be able to fully recover. Did i permantely damage my brain's structure? Please, i need some medical information on this. I have been looking on the internet but not much exists.
Avatar n tn i dont know if these are possible long term effects of the drugs or something else. everyone keeps saying im having anxiety attacks but these feelings come when i am calm and seem very serious. if anyone has any advice on whats going on ,whether drug related or not,, or any advice on good doctors to go to PLEASE let me know immediatly.
Avatar f tn BUT, I have to take it or I am in pain. So try not to worry so much about the long term effects when you are trying to survive today. If you are worried about this I would talk to my doctor and let them know what you are experiencing and there may be something they can do differently. Just dont stop any seizure med without a doctors help. Hope you feel better..
Avatar m tn I have no symptoms and feel great; I am 54 and wondering if HEP C would kill me or if the treatment could cause long term effects that could ruin my health. The longest living male in my family was my father 86 and had slow progressive dementia the last 10 years.
Avatar f tn yes. It has been found to increase the risk for BC, which is why so many women went off their long-term HRT use a few years back, and why doctors now recommend that HRT (esp. combined HRT) be used at the lowest dose possible for the shortest time possible. (Didn't your doctor advise you to go off the hormones after the atypicla ductal cells were found?) Bisphosphonates (Fosamax, Reclast, etc.): no.
Avatar n tn I also have osteoporosis with the degenerative joint desease. I take fosamax 70 mg weekly. I have been on the fosamax for 2 1/2 years with no side effects. Two weeks ago I developed pneumonia and was given levaquin, prednasone, and an albuterol inhaler for use three to four times daily. I think I remember some warning from the doctor that gabapen may cause joint pain. Thank you for your e-mail.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know any adverse effect with Fosamax, a medication for treating osteoporois or brittle bones? My regular doc (who knows I have HCV) prescribed it to me. I know that the liver processes all drugs and reading the side effects is scaring me. I have stage 2 fibrosis and failed the traditional interferon/ribavirin treatment already.
1024532 tn?1380058352 Try to wean off prednisone, if you can. IMO, the long-term side effects - there are many, not just bone thinning - are not worth it.
Avatar m tn dont be too scared as said above few people experience sides but one thing is for sure long term use for decades is not healthy and only cirrhosis or severe damaged liver can justify such use so i'd definitely combo with other therapies so that nucs can be used short term from latest easl conference we have now tests for sustained immune control of hbv cccdna equal or less than 5 copies/cell we now need an hbsag level equal to 5copies/cell, mybe hbsag 500iu/ml
Avatar m tn If you have osteoporosis, I think it is best to take the medication prescribed by your doctor. Supplements and herbal remedies are not approved by the FDA. I have not seen any studies to indicate that this is an effective alternative. While this may be beneficial, I would think the treatment plan would be the one your doctor prescribes.
Avatar f tn DEXA scan showed increased bone density loss to that of a DEXA scan done before bc (ordered by gastro due to 30+ yrs of steroids). BC surgeon prescribed Fosamax and Calcichew/Vit.D3. A bone scan showed osteo arthritis in both hips, hands and feet. No meds prescribed. I am on weekly injections of 12.5 mg methotrexate for Crohn's. My GP suggested I stop the Arimidex for 3-4 weeks to see if the pain diminished, which miraculously it has.
Avatar f tn What are some possible long term effects of crushing up and snorting adderall mixed with norco?
Avatar f tn i wonder did a doctor tell you you had multiple chemical sensitivites....
