Avatar m tn Would a Fractional flow Reserve or FFR, posted on the New England Journal of Medicine on JAN. 2009 would have been a better procedure as opposed to an angiogram with die and implant of an Integrity RX BMS STENT on a 88 year old male with no history of cardio or pulmonary issues, fairly healthy who suffered his first heart attack at 88 years of age? just curious.

Avatar n tn Kathy~What country do you live in. Usually in the U.S., the enlargement of an aortic root is given in centimeters. Having said that, I recently (August this year) had ascending thoracic aneurysm surgery with a st jude valve implantation. If they told you that you have an enlarged aortic root....that, translated is ANEURYSM. If it is 4cms or larger, surgery is usually indicated if it is an ascending (on the way up to the aorta).

Avatar f tn Also I just found this on one of the webpages. Only about one quarter of people with genital HSV- 1 shed virus at all in the absence of symptoms, while 55% of people with HSV-2 do (Wald, New England Journal of Medicine, 1995). "Shedding data appear to parallel recurrence data, meaning that people who have a lot of recurrences also have a lot of shedding," says Wald. This implies to say that 55% of people shed the virus, is this information outdated?
