I have been on both drugs together - Arimidex for 4 yrs, Fosamax for 3 yrs. I stopped the Arimidex 4 wks ago but have continued with weekly Fosamax. The bone pain in my hip and foot has diminished considerably, although I still have shooting pains in both thumbs and 1st 2 fingers. I am a little confused as to your advice......when you say "a possible brilliant solution is to take these drugs together WITH bone protective agents...", which 2 drugs are you referring to?

My son has been taking a daily dose of Fosamax since suffering a C7 spinal cord injury three months ago. He is on Fosamax after developing Heterotopic Ossification in his right hip area. Last week he suffered a femur fracture in his right leg. I am questioning whether he should be taking the Fosamax now due to the fracture that he suffered. Will Fosamax interfere with normal bone healing?

I have been unable sit down without terrible pain in my right hip for the last five weeks. It's sore when standing, walking, and laying down. Do you mean Fosamax (alendronate)? If you do, its for treating bone problems like Osteoperosis by adding bone mass and slows bone loss. I use it for Osteopenia.

I was put on fosamax about a year ago for. In Oct 2011 my teeth started falling out. I always had good teeth until then. Just had 4 pulled. The day after I had a bad infection in the top of my mouth. Its been 3 wks mouth is just now getting better. My question is. Is fosamax the reason my teeth falling out.

I believe there is a link between prolonged use of fosamax and oseonecrosis of the mandible. Who might I contact for positive confirmation?

I am a 59 year old female.The reading on my bone density test is minus 4.1 for my spine and minus 2.6 for my legs and hip. However, my doctor isn't prescribing any medication for me but tells me to continue taking calcium supplement and Vitamin D and come back in a year to do another test. Since I am obviously having osteoporosis, shouldn't I be taking any prescription drug? I am worried sick over the reading and need some expert opinion to go back and talk to my doctor again.

My mom is taking Fosamax [Alendronic Acid], she is taking it exactly as directed and is still getting terriible burning in her esophagus. She is really suffering. She says there are no alternative medications she can switch to. Are there any remedys she can take to help ease the burning in her esophagus? Supplements, Vitamins, anything like that?
