Have a-typical trigeminal facial pain after taking fosamax. Surgeon said Fosamax caused this condition and pain.(fossy jaw) I also had to have a bone implant in my jaw.How do I get rid of this constant painful condition? I Hate taking pain meds, but I'm grateful I get some relief. Pain in jaw, ear,eye, forehead, neck, nose all the whole left side of my face and head.
Throat and chest pressure /constriction dizziness are now another pressing concern.
Does anyone know any adverse effect with Fosamax, a medication for treating osteoporois or brittle bones? My regular doc (who knows I have HCV) prescribed it to me.
I know that the liver processes all drugs and reading the side effects is scaring me. I have stage 2 fibrosis and failed the traditional interferon/ribavirin treatment already.
I was put on fosamax about a year ago for. In Oct 2011 my teeth started falling out. I always had good teeth until then. Just had 4 pulled. The day after I had a bad infection in the top of my mouth. Its been 3 wks mouth is just now getting better. My question is. Is fosamax the reason my teeth falling out.
About 1.5 years ago, I noticed a lymph node under the corner of my jaw about 1-1.5cm large, it is moveable. I went to the doctor who said I shouldn't worry about it. (I do suffer from chronic tonsil stones, though the worse effected tonsil is on the opposite side to the enlarged lymph node) However 2 years later, and it is still there (The exact same size and everything - I'm guessing the fact it has not grown is a good thing?).

Hi everyone can anyone help,for the last 2 months i've had pain in top of my jaw by my ear lobe, the jaw is sometimes stiff and cracks , there is pain also in the gums around the back teeth on the same side of the jaw , the teeth feel tender the pain travels down to the troat and ear. Have no lumps or bumps around these areas. Booked to see my denist.

In addition, my my gums would bleed when I brush my teeth a bit too hard (though it wasn't bleeding while I was sucking on the lady's breasts.) Would this increase the risk?
Since then, this tooth has been hurting me, causing pain to radiate from my tooth to my jaw. It is sensitive - but not overly so - to cold and heat. I went to my dentist and he took an x-ray this week and saw no sign of decay or abscess.

hi, i had infection in my left jaw a year ago without any decay so i had to change my cap of three back molars. now i have an infection in my right hand side jaw and there is a lymph node which you can feel it when touched. the pain was too much and and the dentist put me on an antibiotic for five days. he says the pain will go away in ten days. but i am worried about the lymph node will it actually dissolve?
After taking Fosomax for several months I noticed a snapping sound with pain in my jaw when I opened my mouth wide to take a bite of a sandwich. I asked my doctor about it and she said TMJ. I also said that I feel pain deep within my ear and she said that would be caused by the TMJ. When I asked her if the Fosomax could be causing the problem she said absolutely not. She asked if I grind my teeth at night and told me that I may not know that I'm doing it. I really don't think that I am.
There was a very small filling in the tooth but no present decay. My dentist removed filling and found a small hairline fracture that began at one side of the tooth but did not go all the way across and did not go down as deep as gumline. She tried to bond it but that made pain worse. (Upon biting down and releasing, sharp pain resulted.) It was then determined I needed root canal.
Do you mean Fosamax (alendronate)? If you do, its for treating bone problems like Osteoperosis by adding bone mass and slows bone loss. I use it for Osteopenia.
The very last tooth had and old filling, the middle tooth an ugly crown and the tooth in front of it a large crack and decay under existing filling. My DDS opted for an inlay, onlay and new crown. From the time the numbing medicine wore off the cracked tooth hurt. I returned to my DDS 3 or 4 times complaining of a toothache, jaw pain and earache. He felt the tooth was "too high" and adjusted it to no avail.
Today I had a root canal on the tooth....and guess what?
Please advise how long term use (5 years) of anti-depressants and anti-psychotic meds like venlafaxine, olonzapine, zoloft, and prozac, even high stress, can create gum disease and jaw bone degeneration. Thanks. boxcar.
I believe there is a link between prolonged use of fosamax and oseonecrosis of the mandible.

I had a lower tooth (#19) extracted one week ago. The entire lower left jaw area has been very sore all week. I have been rinsing several times a day with warm salt water. I was not given antibiotics until yesterday. When I went to see the oral surgeon yesterday she said that the tooth was infected and that if it was not better in 24 hours with the antibiotics that she would numb it back up and cut a hole and let it drain. My glands in my neck are stiff and swollen and my left ear aches.
my heart is pinching and my bones hurt badly now can a decay under the crown no tooth left to hold pin have a right swollen face and numbness can be caused by the decay that is under a crown that been there 10 years?
