Common Questions and Answers about Forteo travel letter

forteo

Avatar f tn I have been on Forteo daily injections for 1 year and I have experienced considerable joint pains which did not exist prior to treatment. My left hip and knee, my right knee and my hands have been getting worse each month. Has anyone else experienced similar reactions?
Avatar f tn My doctor told me that I have Osteoporosis and wants me to try Forteo an injection for two years. Has anyone tried this drug and what were your side effects, if any. I don't want to make my stomach problems worse than there already are.
Avatar f tn I have severe osteoporosis and am trying to take Forteo. I started out with half dose and have worked up to a full dose. The full dose 2 days in a row was disabling. My doctor suggested every other day. So I let the previous trial work its way out of my system for 5 days and tried another full dose. This is three days after the dose and I am weaker each day. I move in slow motion. My doctor is puzzled. Anyone had a similar experience?
Avatar f tn Just was informed that I have osteoporosis. My doctor wants me to use Forteo, an injection that you use for two years.
414327 tn?1208306037 Nobody ever looked at them or even asked for them. I would not carry a letter explaining why I have to travel with meds, that is protected medical information and the prescriptions are sufficient. Its nobody's business why you need the meds. Just take it easy on yourself and ask for help when you need it.
Avatar f tn So m 32w preg n bcoz of some immigration issue iam asked to travel back home which is a 9 hour flight i really dnt wanna travel i jave been asked by my lawyer to get a letter from my gp that i cant travel i need it soo bad what should i tell my gp plz reply m in so much stress..
Avatar f tn As for myself, I am a patient suffering from severe osteoporosis. My doctor, realizing I cannot afford Forteo ($950 per month!), has suggested I try to find how I can take the equivalent, generic version, which is Bonista. Please, if anyone can tell me how to get ahold of this medication, any address, emails of sellers, etc! I would be so grateful! This discussion is related to Bonista-side effects.
5536886 tn?1455827346 It's wise to get a letter from your doctor or diabetic nurse specialist that explains you are diabetic and prescribed insulin. In the UK you can ask for a "diabetic card" that helps explain it too, should someone find you unconscious or confused. The letter from your GP should also explain that you require to have your syringe-pen, needles, monitor and maybe other medications with you at all times when traveling on an aircraft.
Avatar f tn Yes it's fine. Talk to your doctor make sure they don't have any concerns. I'm taking a trip when I'll be 31 weeks. I called my dr before finalizing travel plans he said it was fine. I'm flying. Check with the airline or get a letter from your dr just in case that it's okay for you to fly. Some airlines require a "okay to fly" letter from your dr when your further along in the pregnancy. I'm getting a letter from my dr just in case....
645800 tn?1466860955 Just once I'd like to have something go right with the VA in Nashville. I really thought today was going to be that day...I got a letter from the VA telling me that they had set up my follow up appointment with my Vanderbilt MS Neuro. I didn't have to get on their case to get it done this time, not even initiate things at all. But no way was that going to be the case.
1569985 tn?1328247482 This may seem simplistic, but I (like many others) have been reluctant to travel since I developed Afib, because who wants to have to look for a hospital on a trip, deal with doctors you don't know, etc. I saw my EP today, got a good report (thank you Lord!) and asked him if he had any advice for my upcoming vacation -- we haven't traveled anywhere in 2 years.
1574015 tn?1317661220 She will give me a letter for customs. Has anyone had experience/problems taking pills and loaded syringes as carry on, on international flights? After achieving a SVR I really don't want to trust anyone but me with the drugs or let them out of my sight. The interferon has to stay cold. Is there anything specific the letter should say, or something I should know, or do? Thanks!
Avatar m tn I'm so sorry. Have you ever checked into the letter? I know in the US, we've had people who get the letter, and they can travel to other countries. It wouldn't hurt to try.
219241 tn?1413537765 Wondering if anyone has had to travel overseas, whilst taking their thyroid medication. I know the rule is to keep them refrigerated. How did you go about it? Do airlines have a policy on people with medication needing to be kept cold? I haven't been able to find anything on it online. Our major airline QANTAS said when I called them, "oh just let the flight attendants know when you get there" I am not happy with that answer!
454046 tn?1244565593 , I noticed a sign that said to get a letter if you were receiving RAI, and planned to travel on a plane or through the border. I know one man who was returning to Boston, from Nova Scotia, to visit family. He was held up at the border for a long while because they were picking up radiation and he had recently had treatment.
531519 tn?1307632685 Hi Guys My GP has started me on OXYCONTIN and OXYCODONE will i need a lettter from my doctor to travel with this medication. I am going to visit my sister in upstate NY for 3 weeks and i am traveling from Scotland.
908504 tn?1269103899 He also wanted me to try the injections of Forteo but my Aunt had bone cancer in her hips so I am somewhat leary of that drug. Any info will be greatly appreciated as I am in really bad pain.
Avatar n tn Hi! I'm the parent of a child with diabetes, and we've made many trips since diagnosis, all domestic travel. The best backup you can have is the letter from your endocrinologist explaining you have diabetes. They've likely done them for others, so they would know the format. We've never been asked for ours, but it's good to have along. Announce you have diabetes before you go through the screeners, and that you have your supplies with you.
Avatar f tn Hi-- When you say Medicare, I assume it is Medicare Part D, administered by an insurance company like Blue Cross, etc? If so, you might be in for sticker shock. I had a similar experience w/ Forteo, via Part D, they wanted $5K for 3 months. I went directly to Lilly, and qualified for pro bono meds for 2 years, the limit of tx on Forteo. My understanding is patients with cirrhosis get priority. Other Gilead experienced persons, and there are a few here, can tell you more.
631676 tn?1333718203 If you think about it egg donors travel the day before retrieval if the recepient is in another state. I know that is not your case but it applies.
Nicelady Medications themselves can be classified as antiresorptive or bone anabolic agents. Teriparatide (Forteo) is also approved for the treatment of postmenopausal women who have severe osteoporosis and are considered at high risk for fractures. The medicine is given through daily shots underneath the skin and you can give these shots even at home. Another advantage is that it can be given in patients who cannot tolerate oral biphosphonate drugs.
1300808 tn?1280276224 My heart goes out to you and your husband---That is a beautiful letter, i am deeply sorry for your loss. I hope you are able to find peace soon.
Avatar f tn Hi guy's, I've received neurologist No 1's letter. It's a very long letter so i will give you some of its content. The parts i believe that are important. These are his answers to my questions. I have multiple small lesions in the white matter of the brain. These are scattered throughout the brain in the various lobes of the brain. These seem to spare the deeper parts of the brain and brainstem. The 6.6mm is in the white matter of the right frontal region of the brain.
