Avatar f tn I have been on Forteo daily injections for 1 year and I have experienced considerable joint pains which did not exist prior to treatment. My left hip and knee, my right knee and my hands have been getting worse each month. Has anyone else experienced similar reactions?
Avatar f tn My doctor told me that I have Osteoporosis and wants me to try Forteo an injection for two years. Has anyone tried this drug and what were your side effects, if any. I don't want to make my stomach problems worse than there already are.
Avatar f tn I have severe osteoporosis and am trying to take Forteo. I started out with half dose and have worked up to a full dose. The full dose 2 days in a row was disabling. My doctor suggested every other day. So I let the previous trial work its way out of my system for 5 days and tried another full dose. This is three days after the dose and I am weaker each day. I move in slow motion. My doctor is puzzled. Anyone had a similar experience?
Avatar f tn Just was informed that I have osteoporosis. My doctor wants me to use Forteo, an injection that you use for two years.
Avatar f tn As for myself, I am a patient suffering from severe osteoporosis. My doctor, realizing I cannot afford Forteo ($950 per month!), has suggested I try to find how I can take the equivalent, generic version, which is Bonista. Please, if anyone can tell me how to get ahold of this medication, any address, emails of sellers, etc! I would be so grateful! This discussion is related to Bonista-side effects.

Avatar f tn Hi-- When you say Medicare, I assume it is Medicare Part D, administered by an insurance company like Blue Cross, etc? If so, you might be in for sticker shock. I had a similar experience w/ Forteo, via Part D, they wanted $5K for 3 months. I went directly to Lilly, and qualified for pro bono meds for 2 years, the limit of tx on Forteo. My understanding is patients with cirrhosis get priority. Other Gilead experienced persons, and there are a few here, can tell you more.

15606543 tn?1442313368 The normal type of fluids for dogs in CKF are Lactated Ringer type, which are in an IV or SubQ bag. If you are able to do SubQ fluids at home, it would be cheaper for you and less stressful on your dog - ask your current vet, who would need to teach you how to undertake this kind of treatment. Has your vet taken Jojo's blood pressure? If not, it needs doing. If bones are deforming, then calcium and phosphorus may be an issue. Do you have the blood results with you?
Avatar f tn IV fluids would be the best, given by your vet over a 3-day period and then followed-up with SubQ fluids after that, but equally you might just start giving SubQ fluids at home straight away. SubQ fluids take longer to have an effect, so it's worth talking to your vet about it. Hope some of this helps.
Nicelady Medications themselves can be classified as antiresorptive or bone anabolic agents. Teriparatide (Forteo) is also approved for the treatment of postmenopausal women who have severe osteoporosis and are considered at high risk for fractures. The medicine is given through daily shots underneath the skin and you can give these shots even at home. Another advantage is that it can be given in patients who cannot tolerate oral biphosphonate drugs.
Avatar f tn My 5 year old dog, Harper was just diagnosed with stage 3 kidney failure this week. This hit us seemingly fast. Sunday night she was throwing up and at the vet on Monday, the vet could only get bloody mucus for a stool sample. I took her home and kept an eye on her. She kept having diarrhea and seemed lethargic. I thought she must have some sort of blockage in her GI tract.
Avatar f tn We have to give subq fluids to Ozzie for 10 days, and then see what happens. I have done it twice, and am ready to quit. I am scratched, and have poked myself with the needle, and Ozzie is very stressed out. Luckily he has no teeth or I would have been bitten, too. He is an old cat, but used to be feral and fights like a lion and two of us holding him down barley works. Is there a trick to doing this easier, or is this what to expect every time?
Avatar n tn He should be seen by a vet who can check for any injuries inside the eye. Also if the bird is in shock, he may need to be kept warm in an incubator and have subQ fluids. You didn't mention how long ago this happened. I see your post was one hour ago.
