forteo

Avatar f tn My doctor told me that I have Osteoporosis and wants me to try Forteo an injection for two years. Has anyone tried this drug and what were your side effects, if any. I don't want to make my stomach problems worse than there already are.
Avatar f tn Just was informed that I have osteoporosis. My doctor wants me to use Forteo, an injection that you use for two years.
Avatar f tn I have worked with this site for many years assisting people to get the medicines that they need. You should check and see if you qualify for the Forteo assistance program: http://www.needymeds.org/drug_list.taf?_function=name&name=Forteo Good luck! I am a breast cancer patient in a drug study taking the osteoporosis drug, Zometa. There is some promising data that suggests osteoporosis drugs may help prevent breast cancer patients having recurrances of cancer as bone cancer.
Avatar f tn I have been on Forteo daily injections for 1 year and I have experienced considerable joint pains which did not exist prior to treatment. My left hip and knee, my right knee and my hands have been getting worse each month. Has anyone else experienced similar reactions?
Avatar m tn Thanks for your feedback. My case has baffled most doctors. I drink alot of water, eat a healthy diet and don't smoke or drink. The only meds I take are for my bones (Forteo) as I found out that I had extreme osteoporosis in Nov. 2008. I have had my circualtion checked several times and it is reduced in my "weaker" foot. There is no blockages and I have no rare diseases.... My problem is only becoming worse and noone knows why....
Avatar f tn I had a BMD issue a couple of years ago (suffered 3 hip fractures over 2 years) and after seeing 7 different doctors my Primary Care seemed to put a ton of things together and believed I was not absorbing calcium and may estrogen levels were super low and virtually non existent. I was put on Ogestral and Forteo and knock on wood- no more injuries and a BMD increase of 22% in 1 yr. However, I started having what I thought was food allergies.
Avatar f tn I had a similar experience w/ Forteo, via Part D, they wanted $5K for 3 months. I went directly to Lilly, and qualified for pro bono meds for 2 years, the limit of tx on Forteo. My understanding is patients with cirrhosis get priority. Other Gilead experienced persons, and there are a few here, can tell you more. Depending upon your income, and your stage of cirrhosis, you may be able to get your meds totally pro bono, side stepping Part D completely.
Avatar f tn Must say the proverbial "When it rains it pours". Bone density..Hmmm You may not want to go the Fosamax route so there are a few other ideas you may want to try. As a personal trainer for the last 20 years I had bones of steel. When liver disease took a hit at me I didn't work out for almost a year, at least the heavy weights. To my surprise I was diagnosed with Osteopenia. The only way you can increase bone density is thru weight bearing excersices.
Avatar f tn For almost 2 years, I have been, and continue to be, treated for Fibro, Osteoarthritis, Senile Osteoporosis (daily injection of Forteo), high blood pressure and low/none vitamin D, and periods of low white cells. Was checked for the usual, RA, Lupus etc. Nothing showed up. Previous health-worked fulltime around 50 hours a week or more, constantly going and doing, did many family dinners, active runner, won divisional 5k first place and masters and weight trained. BMI is around 20.
Nicelady Medications themselves can be classified as antiresorptive or bone anabolic agents. Teriparatide (Forteo) is also approved for the treatment of postmenopausal women who have severe osteoporosis and are considered at high risk for fractures. The medicine is given through daily shots underneath the skin and you can give these shots even at home. Another advantage is that it can be given in patients who cannot tolerate oral biphosphonate drugs.
Avatar f tn Anybody almost due and their bones hurt???? My hips r killing me if I move my knees make a popping noise n ect. Am I the only one??
Avatar n tn Osteoporosis- is a degeneration of bone. It can lead to brittle bones and breaks of major bones. Osteoarthritis- is a degeneration of the joint. typically caused by wear and tear.
Avatar f tn In fact, everything was normal except for his neurological problems. So they sent him home and told him to try Forteo. Well, Forteo has a side effect which is increased risk of bone cancer, so he stopped it. And I put him on Strontium, which is a supplement that builds bone density. Strontium is used in Europe and a pharmaceutical company has a patent on Strontium Ranelate, which is Strontium with an artificial substance linked to it.
8101930 tn?1420001456 How come my Newborn's bones crack? Is This normal? I Have a appt for him on Tuesday so I'll ask then but I'm just wondering if anyone knows anything about this.
Avatar m tn I'm a 27 year old otherwise healthy male. I've been struggling with a medical problem for the past 3 years and I'm looking for help. In 2008, I had a very bad fall forward onto a tile floor, and landed on both of my wrists. My hands were being extended upwards when I impacted, which caused an immediate and recognizable shift in the wrists' carpal bones. My hands literally looked foreign to how they had looked for the previous 24 years before the fall.
Avatar f tn t tell if it is a lump or my bones. Do you have any tips for checking your beast ? Do you feel bones too ?

Avatar n tn I to had an MRI that showed 8 lesions on my brain, and 2 cysts and my neurologist is not making me go back until September for a recheck. He was testing for MS when he ordered the MRI. I haven't gone for a 2nd opinion because I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's and Hypothyroidism. I wonder if maybe I should go for a second opinion now..
Avatar n tn Also, drink plenty of milk (or soya milk if you are lactose intolerant) for calcium - or other calcium enriched foods. Plenty of vegetables are advised too for long lasting energy and strength. For supplements - and I advise you to be responsible - take zinc, magnesium and vitamin b6 supplements (or a complete formula known as ZMA) and caredfully take L-arginine and L-ornithine supplements. All of these supplements are simply vitamins, minerals and amino acids respectively.
Avatar n tn Jaybay does make some good points. If your dog is not neutered the territorial drive is a bit stronger and the bone is his territory. If sounds as if he has become frustrated and is not satisfied with the available hiding locations in the house. Can you train him to one toy box, that he knows is all his own. You must reward him for putting his bone in the toy box each night with a treat that he finds irresistible. Additionally, is this a bone that was sold sterilized?
Avatar n tn I am currently 23 weeks pregnant and have recently had a ultrasound where they were not able to find my baby's nasal bone. They tell me this is a soft marker for Down Syndrome but my blood tests and other measurements say that the baby is growing perfectly. Has anyone gone through this kind of scare and is able to share with me their experience? I am worried but on the other hand am not sure if I/my doctor is just overreacting.
