Avatar f tn I have been on Forteo daily injections for 1 year and I have experienced considerable joint pains which did not exist prior to treatment. My left hip and knee, my right knee and my hands have been getting worse each month. Has anyone else experienced similar reactions?
908504 tn?1269103899 My new doctor thinks I might have osteomalasia. Does anyone else here have that? Could you tell me alittle about it?
Avatar f tn My doctor told me that I have Osteoporosis and wants me to try Forteo an injection for two years. Has anyone tried this drug and what were your side effects, if any. I don't want to make my stomach problems worse than there already are.
Avatar f tn I have severe osteoporosis and am trying to take Forteo. I started out with half dose and have worked up to a full dose. The full dose 2 days in a row was disabling. My doctor suggested every other day. So I let the previous trial work its way out of my system for 5 days and tried another full dose. This is three days after the dose and I am weaker each day. I move in slow motion. My doctor is puzzled. Anyone had a similar experience?
Avatar f tn Just was informed that I have osteoporosis. My doctor wants me to use Forteo, an injection that you use for two years.
Avatar f tn As for myself, I am a patient suffering from severe osteoporosis. My doctor, realizing I cannot afford Forteo ($950 per month!), has suggested I try to find how I can take the equivalent, generic version, which is Bonista. Please, if anyone can tell me how to get ahold of this medication, any address, emails of sellers, etc! I would be so grateful! This discussion is related to Bonista-side effects.
Avatar f tn Hi-- When you say Medicare, I assume it is Medicare Part D, administered by an insurance company like Blue Cross, etc? If so, you might be in for sticker shock. I had a similar experience w/ Forteo, via Part D, they wanted $5K for 3 months. I went directly to Lilly, and qualified for pro bono meds for 2 years, the limit of tx on Forteo. My understanding is patients with cirrhosis get priority. Other Gilead experienced persons, and there are a few here, can tell you more.
Nicelady Medications themselves can be classified as antiresorptive or bone anabolic agents. Teriparatide (Forteo) is also approved for the treatment of postmenopausal women who have severe osteoporosis and are considered at high risk for fractures. The medicine is given through daily shots underneath the skin and you can give these shots even at home. Another advantage is that it can be given in patients who cannot tolerate oral biphosphonate drugs.
Avatar m tn Thanks for your feedback. My case has baffled most doctors. I drink alot of water, eat a healthy diet and don't smoke or drink. The only meds I take are for my bones (Forteo) as I found out that I had extreme osteoporosis in Nov. 2008. I have had my circualtion checked several times and it is reduced in my "weaker" foot. There is no blockages and I have no rare diseases.... My problem is only becoming worse and noone knows why....
Avatar n tn I am in the process of many test now and the only abnormalty found so far is an elevated level of calcium in my blood, a result of Forteo injections. My blood pressure is perfect! Can you give me any idea what is happening to me and if there is anything I can do to help myself this mystery is solved?
10356005 tn?1409545418 Beyond annoyed with all of the minor complications I've had since 32 weeks. I am currently 37+1, I've had preterm labor, put on bed rest and meds. Now possible preeclampsia, more bed rest. My LO has enlarged kidneys and is measuring at 8lbs 11oz. My husband and I are small people and I've put on only 28lbs this pregnancy. Oh and he was breech up until yesterday, finally head down tho. I know he's a little miracle and I am blessed, but I'm done! I'm so stressed out!
Avatar n tn I was just wondering if there could be any severe complications from having a physical disability. I'm currently suffering from a c7t1 spinal fracture, and have a baclofen pump and a full spinal fusion to add on top. My fiance and I were hoping to have kids soon. I'm just worried about what could go on.
Avatar f tn So today at 6:34 I had my son. I had many complications through out. With my preeclampsia, blood pressure, his heart rate, the pain, & delievery. While in labor for 1hr&half he was caught on my vaginal canal and when i was pushing i busted the viens in the back of his head ): hes in the nursery, hes also having trouble breathing. Hes on an i.v. and oxygen. They said that he will probably have to come back for therapy for his viens.
Avatar n tn My mother 55, went in for polyps in her colon, they removed part of the colon and reattached it. She had complications were the attachment had a small whole. She is know on a machine to help her breath and is stable but showing no signs of improvement. How long does it take before some one starts to improve or not. It has been only one day since the second surgery and I am told that her condition is an hour by hour case.
Avatar f tn I am 5ft 5 inches and weigh 14 and half stones. I guess this makes me very obese. I am very worried about developing complications. I have not developed any so far. I find junk food like sweet food, burgers, chips etc very tempting and hard to resist. I take them quite regularly and am desperately trying to stop this.
