Avatar n tn I took Forteo for 10 months. and i can barely walk. i took Tymlos for the first 6 months and was fine, and then Forteo for 10 months. my strength is gone, my feet hurt wearing shoes, i have stomach pain when exercising, and ave thigh muscle cramps, neck pain, and can't sleep. I had confusion when driving, so i told my doctor i'm done with this. I know where i'm going these days, but I now use a walker around the house, elastic knee braces to walk on my own.
Avatar f tn I have been on Forteo daily injections for 1 year and I have experienced considerable joint pains which did not exist prior to treatment. My left hip and knee, my right knee and my hands have been getting worse each month. Has anyone else experienced similar reactions?
Avatar f tn My doctor told me that I have Osteoporosis and wants me to try Forteo an injection for two years. Has anyone tried this drug and what were your side effects, if any. I don't want to make my stomach problems worse than there already are.
Avatar f tn I have severe osteoporosis and am trying to take Forteo. I started out with half dose and have worked up to a full dose. The full dose 2 days in a row was disabling. My doctor suggested every other day. So I let the previous trial work its way out of my system for 5 days and tried another full dose. This is three days after the dose and I am weaker each day. I move in slow motion. My doctor is puzzled. Anyone had a similar experience?
Avatar f tn Other Gilead experienced persons, and there are a few here, can tell you more. Depending upon your income, and your stage of cirrhosis, you may be able to get your meds totally pro bono, side stepping Part D completely.
Avatar f tn I have worked with this site for many years assisting people to get the medicines that they need. You should check and see if you qualify for the Forteo assistance program: http://www.needymeds.org/drug_list.taf?_function=name&name=Forteo Good luck! I am a breast cancer patient in a drug study taking the osteoporosis drug, Zometa. There is some promising data that suggests osteoporosis drugs may help prevent breast cancer patients having recurrances of cancer as bone cancer.
Avatar f tn I had a BMD issue a couple of years ago (suffered 3 hip fractures over 2 years) and after seeing 7 different doctors my Primary Care seemed to put a ton of things together and believed I was not absorbing calcium and may estrogen levels were super low and virtually non existent. I was put on Ogestral and Forteo and knock on wood- no more injuries and a BMD increase of 22% in 1 yr. However, I started having what I thought was food allergies.
Avatar f tn My  20 year son has severe chronic bone pain, osteoporosis and has had multiple fractures.  We have also had bone biopsy with showed a mineralization defect(focal osteomalacia) and high turn bone turnover but these do not lend themselves to a diagnosis.  His blood levels of calcium and vit D are normal.  He received a Pamidronate infusion in October 2004 and that is when the pain began.  He was completely debilitated at that time as he is now.
Avatar m tn In the summer, when I take a hot shower or just when I wake up, my foot becomes red and swollen. It has evolved to the point that both my feet and hands have this condition. My injured foot is worse. I live in a cold, winter climate and my feet turn purple as well. I have lost feeling in my left foot and it is becoming scary. Meds (to increase circulation) have aggravated the problem). RSD was ruled out as I had a nerve block which aggravated the problem. I have had all blood tests.
Avatar m tn with a urologist to get that checked. I have a female friend who recently went through radiation treatments for breast cancer, and her dr. told her that she still has a chance of having children.
Avatar n tn When standing after a long period of time sitting I experience symptoms beginning with pressure and pain to the center of my forehead. The pressure generates into my sinus and ears, making my ears pop as if in a plane. My vision becomes blurry and my legs feel as if they are going to collaspe from up under me. I have actually had to crawl on several occasions as my legs would not support me. This has been a consistant problem for about two months. It may occur 1-5 times a week.
Avatar n tn my mom is suffering frm breast cancer, she has had 6 sessions of chemotherapy and has also undergone mastectomy now she is going ho have radiation for 5weeks ,is it necessary for her to undergo radiation as her biopsy reports suggests that she doesnt have metastasis, and that she had in nerves. Will she be completely cured after radiation.?
Avatar n tn My surgeon wants me to get radiation since the larger area was 3cm x 5cm and the smaller was microcalcifications an inch and a half away. I had a consult with a radiation oncologyst and he said it was up to me whether I had radiation or not. I am negative for estrogen or progesterone receptors and need to know what to do because of the conflicting advice. I am 64 years old, Caucasian, without any family history of cancer.
Avatar m tn t understand this, but tissues actually absorb radiation, and only a small % of the radiation exits the body to form the image. Say 100% radiation enters the skin, maybe a few percent leaves on the backside. So, this is just a long way of saying that if the dose was 20 mGy, then at most the dose seen at the lungs will be 20 mGy, the only way to increase the dose of exposed radiation is to increase the time or energy of the beam (or both).
Avatar m tn Many medical tests, such as x-rays, CT scans, and Thallium scans, use ionizing radiation, while others, such as MRI and ultrasound, do not. Ionizing radiation is associated with a very slightly increased risk of various types of cancer. Therefore every effort is made to reduce the dose to as low as possible, and to shield patients and staff from ionizing radiation.
Avatar m tn At 47, I have had 4 CAT scans, 5 MRIs, and numerous X-Rays (the result of a rare migraine disease, and life as an athlete). What can I do to avoid radiation induced cancer later in life?
Avatar f tn However, I had to plan this pregnancy to happen within a time frame I could best avoid the MRIs. So if all goes well I get a baby in June and MRI and possible radiation or surgery I'm July. Definitely not safe during pregnancy.
Avatar f tn My Mom has stage IV breast cancer. It is now in her bones and lymph nodes. I am confused by the Radiologist and Oncologist's recommendations. Is it true that the radiation and chemo are not done at the same time? Should my Mom go with the chemo first since preventing spread and attacking the chemo is what we want not just dealing with a local area. I think the Radiologist may have said that they would only do 5 days of treatment.
Avatar f tn Is it safe to sleep on a mattress after a radiation and chemo patient? There is a small stain that happened while she was having chemo and radiation. She hasn't slept on it for over a month.
Avatar m tn I'm a male in my late 20s and had radiation treatment to my neck for lymphoma roughly four years ago. Since radiation can harm the thyroid, they took a baseline TSH measurement, which was 1.5 (.55 - 4.78). A year later, I noticed that I was gaining weight and so I had them check my TSH again and it was 3.65 (.55 - 4.78) and my Total T4 was 8.1 (4.5 - 10.9). A couple of years after that, my hair started falling out so I had my thyroid checked again and the TSH was 9.95 (.55 - 4.
314692 tn?1214080510 I REALLY want immediate recon because I am only 41 and waiting up to 12mos is not something I want to do. I see my radiation oncologist next week and I am sure they will agree with the surgeon about waiting because they are all on the same team. However I spoke to another radiation oncologist who said they radiate with expanders all the time and sometimes there are problems but for the most part it's fine. Im confused!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
