Common Questions and Answers about Forteo and nausea

forteo

Avatar f tn My doctor told me that I have Osteoporosis and wants me to try Forteo an injection for two years. Has anyone tried this drug and what were your side effects, if any. I don't want to make my stomach problems worse than there already are.
Avatar n tn I took Forteo for 10 months. and i can barely walk. i took Tymlos for the first 6 months and was fine, and then Forteo for 10 months. my strength is gone, my feet hurt wearing shoes, i have stomach pain when exercising, and ave thigh muscle cramps, neck pain, and can't sleep. I had confusion when driving, so i told my doctor i'm done with this. I know where i'm going these days, but I now use a walker around the house, elastic knee braces to walk on my own.
Avatar f tn I have been on Forteo daily injections for 1 year and I have experienced considerable joint pains which did not exist prior to treatment. My left hip and knee, my right knee and my hands have been getting worse each month. Has anyone else experienced similar reactions?
Avatar f tn I have severe osteoporosis and am trying to take Forteo. I started out with half dose and have worked up to a full dose. The full dose 2 days in a row was disabling. My doctor suggested every other day. So I let the previous trial work its way out of my system for 5 days and tried another full dose. This is three days after the dose and I am weaker each day. I move in slow motion. My doctor is puzzled. Anyone had a similar experience?
Avatar f tn I had a BMD issue a couple of years ago (suffered 3 hip fractures over 2 years) and after seeing 7 different doctors my Primary Care seemed to put a ton of things together and believed I was not absorbing calcium and may estrogen levels were super low and virtually non existent. I was put on Ogestral and Forteo and knock on wood- no more injuries and a BMD increase of 22% in 1 yr. However, I started having what I thought was food allergies.
Avatar f tn Other Gilead experienced persons, and there are a few here, can tell you more. Depending upon your income, and your stage of cirrhosis, you may be able to get your meds totally pro bono, side stepping Part D completely.
Avatar f tn I have worked with this site for many years assisting people to get the medicines that they need. You should check and see if you qualify for the Forteo assistance program: http://www.needymeds.org/drug_list.taf?_function=name&name=Forteo Good luck! I am a breast cancer patient in a drug study taking the osteoporosis drug, Zometa. There is some promising data that suggests osteoporosis drugs may help prevent breast cancer patients having recurrances of cancer as bone cancer.
Avatar f tn My  20 year son has severe chronic bone pain, osteoporosis and has had multiple fractures.  We have also had bone biopsy with showed a mineralization defect(focal osteomalacia) and high turn bone turnover but these do not lend themselves to a diagnosis.  His blood levels of calcium and vit D are normal.  He received a Pamidronate infusion in October 2004 and that is when the pain began.  He was completely debilitated at that time as he is now.
Avatar m tn In the summer, when I take a hot shower or just when I wake up, my foot becomes red and swollen. It has evolved to the point that both my feet and hands have this condition. My injured foot is worse. I live in a cold, winter climate and my feet turn purple as well. I have lost feeling in my left foot and it is becoming scary. Meds (to increase circulation) have aggravated the problem). RSD was ruled out as I had a nerve block which aggravated the problem. I have had all blood tests.
Avatar n tn When standing after a long period of time sitting I experience symptoms beginning with pressure and pain to the center of my forehead. The pressure generates into my sinus and ears, making my ears pop as if in a plane. My vision becomes blurry and my legs feel as if they are going to collaspe from up under me. I have actually had to crawl on several occasions as my legs would not support me. This has been a consistant problem for about two months. It may occur 1-5 times a week.
Avatar f tn During this I also had abdominal pain off and on and flushing in my face with increase in blood pressure and heart rate, weakness in arms and legs, zero appetite, nausea/vomiting and probably some other lovely symptoms I can't recall. I just wanted to let you know you're not alone and give you hope as my symptoms have gone away. So maybe either the thyroid med change or the antidepressant did it?
Avatar n tn He scheduled a CT for confirmation. The CT confirmed the non-union. He wrote a prescription for Forteo, and the use of a bone growth stimulator, stating that if, after an additional 8 weeks there is still no sign of bone fusion, he would do a bone graft and replace the hardware. I feel as though he is not listening to my complaints of pain, edema and the inability to sleep secondary to the pain and discomfort.
Avatar n tn I have recently been extremely fatigued and have had multiple arthralgia's, red/raised rash on my forearms/under my arms that comes and goes, a very tender right breast with a lump that comes and goes under my arm and in my groin. I just "don't feel well", and also have noted "night sweats". I am a very busy Wife/Mother of 3 teens, work 40 + hours a week, volunteer at church, and am involved with the kids activities at school.
Avatar f tn Thanks guys. I mean I expected the nausea and the typical morning sickness but this was much worse and at night really threw me off.. Now I want to be caelreful what I eat .
Avatar m tn I am only taking byetta, and no oral hypoglycemics (metformin, etc.)I have lost 29 lbs in that length of time, primarily due to decreased appetite, nausea, and vomiting. I understand that this is in all likelyhood due to delayed gastric emptying. My question: Is this ever going to get better??? All of the information I have read leads me to believe that it probably should have, but nope....no way....same ol', same ol'.....shot, eat, nausea, vomiting. Repeat (excuse the pun) ad nauseam.
Avatar f tn Hi all, I'm 20 years old and almost 6 weeks along with my 2nd pregnancy and I'm Due July 10th. It will however be my first baby, I miscarried in January the day before 12 weeks. (The baby stopped growing very early and I just took a while to pass it apparently) now I've been taking my vitamins for 4 days now and even if I don't smell it at all first I get super nauseated after I take it :( so I guess my question is Is there anyone going through the same things?
Avatar f tn i said i wasnt horney but sure. the sex was good and right after he cums i start gagging and i grab the bucket and threw up the box of stuffing i had ate 30 minutes before hand. he now says, no more stuffing and ill wait until you want sex.
Avatar f tn I tried several at home remedies, the pregnancy pops, sea ands, ginger and mint EVERYTHING, and nothing worked for me except nausea medication. My doctor first prescribed me 4mg of zofran taken 3-4 times a day and that worked pretty well for awhile. But I was sick through the majority of my pregnancy and eventually it didn't work anymore so she prescribed me 10mg of something else (sorry I don't remember the name).
