527657 tn?1214051850 I was jus put on Fluoxetine an so far i havent noticed any side effects other then on new years eve when i had a small drink i felt alil sick but it went away after 20 mins havent had anything sense.
Avatar n tn ve stayed with it the longest. My question is regarding the side effects. Occasionally I will notice an internal restless feeling -- usually lasts a few days. It's almost like I feel kind of antsy. My sleep is not disturbed -- I sleep normal as usual. I've also noticed, and have in the past, that I have some twitches. Various muscles in my body will twitch from time to time.
Avatar f tn Has anyone else taking Fluoxetine (similar to Prozac) experienced side effects? I have noticed some odd changes in the way my body responds to exercise; specifically, excessive sweating. I'm not sure if the medication is directly linked, but in the past year (I have been taking the drug for about 2.5 years) I break into an all over the body sweat very easily, and it has happened even when I'm not exercising.
Avatar f tn Alcohol definately effects your meds differently. With me, I get drunk easier and faster. It isnt good to drink while you are on meds anyways. It makes your medication less effective and it will effect your moods the next day.
Avatar m tn I do NOT tolerate these tablets as well and have also tried the 10mg capsules with the same effects (less effective more side effects- nausea, dizziness, fat face, racing thoughts, decreased libido, nightmares, sleep disturbances, etc.).. I have called several pharmacies but they all have the blue tablets too -_-... Th side effects persist even after a month on the different pill forms too.. Any options left? Or must I suck it up and take a pill that makes me sick or discontinue usage...
Avatar m tn I forgot to ask my Doctor and now he is on holiday, I need to know what to do. I used to drink with 20mg fluoxetine without any problems, now I want to know why do they tell us to not drink with antidepression meds is it because we may get ourselves to develop worse mental illnesses and have hallucination? or is it because we may only not be able to focus, to drive etc... Or is it because the med wont function in our system anymore?
Avatar f tn yes anti depressants can cause mania type reactions - usually in bipolar people, th'at is why I don't take them. Maybe get a second opinion on the diagnosis, that is not a particularly normal reaction for unipolar depression, When they were still giving bipolar patients anti-depressents regularly I tried every variety and had a particular problem with SSRI's.
Avatar m tn Merry Christmas - I'm sorry you're going through this! I don't have any experience with prozac, so I'm not sure how much help I can be. However, I can share a couple of things I've learned on my med. journey. Starting or increasing a dose on our anxiety meds can actually increase our anxiety as a side effect. This is no fun, I know. But this is usually temporary and goes away over time. GI distress can also be a common side effect.
Avatar f tn I was on fluoxetine for over 6 years without any side effects, then i came off it for 6 months ,I then had to go back on it ,but it started to cause a stuffy blocked nose and ear and head pressure which then resulted in pain in and around the eye ,has anyone heard of this and has this happened to anyone else?
1817640 tn?1323045243 All of the medications have different side effects. I would journal what you are feeling so that you can keep track of it day-to-day. Since it does take 4-6 weeks for these medications to really start working, you may be having a combination of side effects and the anxiety you already had. Try to eat even though you don't feel like it. Even if it is a lot of small meals during the day. Of course if your nausea turns into vomiting, then you need to call your doctor ASAP.
Avatar f tn Not to worry though, give it a couple weeks atleast for your system regulate and get use to the new drug and its effects. Of course if after 2-3 weeks these side effects remain bothersome contact your doctor, it may be this is not the anti-depressant for you. I hope that helps. Good luck, Shanna please private message me anytime as I have much experience with fluoxetine.
897400 tn?1303329148 Depression and anxiety symptoms in alcohol dependant patients also respond well to tianeptine. The adverse effects associated with tianeptine are similar in many respects to those of the SSRIs and minimal in comparison with the tricyclic antidepressants. The most common adverse effects are nausea, constipation, abdominal pain, headache, dizziness and changes in dreaming. Anticholinergic effects occur less often with tianeptine than with tricyclic agents. Hepatoxicity is rare.
5268376 tn?1406179712 I looked at Zithromax side effects, they vary by the dosage, single or multiple doses, doses in combination with another drug, and are listed as pre-marketing trials and post-marketing reports. Rhythm issues were reported less than 1% of the time in pre-marketing trials, and also in post-marketing reports. Post marketing reports are apparently voluntary and often include things clearly not related to the drug.
Avatar f tn just a quick question if anybody can answer it for me dose a dose increase in fluoxetine (prozac) cause any side effects? I'm going from 20mg per day to 40mg tonight due to the fact i'm feeling the 20mg isn't working as good as it has done for me.
Avatar m tn I then started fluoxetine 20 mg, which worked miraculously, with no side effects whatsoever. However, after quitting, I always seemed to get depression back, so I went back on it.I also tried therapy, with no results. After a few years my doctor switched me to Sertraline, and for the first time , I began to get tremor, an annoying peri-oral sensation with some mild jaw tremor and severe bruxism. That was 2 years ago.
Avatar f tn About a month ago I went to see a psych and he put me on 40mg of fluoxetine and told me to come back in a month and a half to up the dosage. However, I'm not sure if it's working for me... or if I'm just getting bad side effects. Within the month that the psych left me I had to go through a length and painful trial, to which the fluoxetine just made feel completely numb, I know I should feel sad but for some reason I can't cry.
Avatar n tn t tolerate any alcohol with metroidazole, others tolerate a little. If you have a normally sensitive stomach, you should use regular toothpaste for the time being.
1679320 tn?1306382914 Hi I'm new to this forum. I just started the same meds on Sunday 7/3. Seems to have taken the edge off already, but I'm still feeling very anxious, nervous and am tired of my hands being all clammy. How long does it take to feel normal again? Starting some therapy next week...can't wait.
Avatar n tn Thank you for your reply, but I do know the side effects of Fluoxetine. I'm trying to fix the side effects...
Avatar n tn Combining fluoxetine or paroxetine with phenytoin can also lead to increased phenytoin side effects and reduce blood levels of paroxetine. You really need to discuss the potential drug interactions with your own doctor.

Avatar f tn m wondering how to deal with these side effects? I really want to see if the meds will help ease my depression but I just feel like I won't be able to handle feeling so shaky and weird for a real long time. Please let me know if you've had a similar experience and how you managed. Again, I'm pretty sure my health anxiety is adding to my problem here...(I will be feeling my head and worrying about this new pain all day, I'm sure) Thanks!!
6021583 tn?1413069126 You can have start up side effects when starting a new med. This can include increased anxiety. The side effects usually get better in a few days. I hope your Dr does call you back. This med should be tapered with the help of your Dr. If he does'nt call by mid day give him a call.
1817640 tn?1323045243 You are on an SSRI medication and from personal experience (on Lexapro) I can tell you it can take a while for the medication to ramp up in your system and start showing therapeutic effects. Like you I went through some nasty side effects for about the first 2-3 weeks. To the point where I was about to throw in the towel but I can tell you now that I am SO GLAD I didn't because it is working and I feel much better.
Avatar f tn Mirtazapine is a good antidepressant and anxiolytic, with few side effects. It doesn't have the SSRI side effects like nausea, headache, initially increased anxiety and GI problems. In fact, due to the pharmacological profile it actually counteracts these side effects from SSRIs, which is why the combination is fairly common. It's a strong sedative (from the antihistaminergic effects) and can give you an energy boost the next day (from the noradrenergic effects).
Avatar f tn good replies from above, but here is something you may not want to hear!!! STOP DRINKING ALCOHOL PERIOD. I believe if anyone is really sick, Alcohol is the last resort! So if you are as bad as you say, NO med and NO therapy will help until YOU STOP DRINKING FIRST PERIOD. ENOUGH SAID!
