Avatar f tn He has been on everything imaginable from Flovent, alvesco, to singular and nasal sprays, albulteral treatments, predinisone(oral) and now nebulizer treatments(duo neb and pulmacort). He has an asthma specialist which is great but I feel there is something he is missing. My son has been through multiple tests to check for allegeries and cystic fibrosis and all were negative.
Avatar f tn After you are feeling better, you can discus trying an ICS only medication like Asmanex or Alvesco with your doctor. This would eliminated the LABA which typically cause the jittery, rapid heart rate side effects people object to. Depending on how severe your asthma is or how reactive you are, you may be able to control your asthma with allergy medication (possible including shots) and an ocassionally use of your rescue inhaler. Hoping you feel better soon.

Avatar f tn In the evening I use asthma medication, but I do not have asthma. Could cortisone inhalation (Alvesco) in the evening cause nocturnal fever several hours later? In the morning and daytime my temperature is normal (I had some fever over a week ago). I have atrial fibrillation and, when walking, I have dyspnea posssibly due to respiratory infection. I have an 8-9 mm nodule and a few smaller ones in my lungs. The nodule has not grown in size when followed for a year.
Avatar f tn They said start with Xopenex (4-6x a day) and give him Flovent once in the morning and once at night. Do this for about 1-2 days. But doesn't it take weeks for Flovent to kick in? Why would they have me do it like this. How could it help him for only 1-2 days?

Avatar f tn Within days of stopping the flovent again the rash was back, even worse than the first time. I strongly suspect that the flovent (or I should say stopping the flovent) is the cause of the rash and that the use of the flovent supresses it. The pediatrician had not heard of this and subsequently referred us to a dermatologist. I know if will take several weeks to get an appointment with the dermatologist.
Avatar n tn A doctor MAY have prescribed you to take the ventolin before you take the flovent to ensure the flovent reached deep into the lungs but give them a call and double check. In that case - ventolin first to open the lungs and then flovent to reduce inflammation.
Avatar m tn I am taking Flovent, Spiriva and ProAir. Since I've been on the medication I've been Dxed with idiopathic neuropathy, cervical radiculopathy, carpel tunnel. I also have other entrapment symptoms, ulnar ,and I think in my legs as well. Sometimes I get a burst of nerve pain in my arms and legs a few minutes after using the Flovent and it also causes some tendon swelling. 663470 tn?1243207890 I have always thought I have had asthma, and I've always had an albuterol inhaler. I've always been active in exercising, so I don't think I'm out of shape. I'm 17 now and I just recently had very severe episodes where I can't breathe at all. I've had asthma attacks before and been to the ER and have been put on Advair, Prednizone*, and other medications, but none have lasted this long for this long of a time.

Avatar n tn She took singulair and flovent inhaler and walked 3 miles a day. Two years ago she needed to use Duoneb via nebulizer. She was not short of breath at any time but had a few bouts with chronic bronchitis. Since moving to Florida a year ago, her husband died in Dec of 2007 and she is now short of breath. Her pulmonologist in FL took her off all of lung medications and within 3 days she was wheezing like a maniac.
Avatar m tn What medicines have you or your children been on for this? My 3 year old son was just diagnosed with EE this past August, and he's been using Flovent 1 puff twice a day since then. The last month or two I've noticed that he has been extremely aggressive, agitated, and just plain mean and disrespectful. I am 100% sure it is due to the Flovent. Is there an alternative I should be asking for? Will all of the EE medicines give his just such a reaction since they are all going to be steroids?
