746512 tn?1388807580 Symbicort for example includes both Pulmicort, as well as an LABA called Formoterol. Another example is Advair (Flovent/Salmeterol). I would definitely recommend seeing your Pulmonary Specialist.
Avatar m tn Hi everyone! I'm in a bit of a bind right now. My preventive asthma medication seems to cause nausea and general cloudiness when I take them. When I stop taking them, the dizziness stops so I know that it's the cause. I've tried a handful of different medicines like Flovent, Dulera, Qvar, Advair, Pulmicort and even Singulair and they all cause this nauseating effect. I'm wondering if any of you know what this might be and any way to stop it.
Avatar n tn 10 -day course of .875 MG Augmentin with pulmicort + albuterol nebulizer treatments, and Nasonex. Some improvement -- lung function up to 81%. 3. 3-week course of 2 MG Augmentin, higher dose of symbicort (no nebulizers), and Nasonex. By January 6, my lung function was up to 92%, which was for me, normal. The allergist still thought I had a sinus infection, so she recommended a sinus CT scan, which showed no infection.
Avatar f tn He is now coughing more and says his chest is tight. His breathing is fine. I gave him his regular meds of flovent and singular, I also gave him 2 puffs from his albuterol inhaler. He is now asking for his breathing treatment which is unlike him cause he hates it. My question is can I give him a treatment if he just had his inhaler?
212161 tn?1599427282 I have had asthma for nine years. For seven years I was on Pulmicort 200 twice a day until the company changed their product to flexhailer. The flexhailer just didnt work like the turbuhalor. Then thats when I switched over to asmanex 220 and then when the heart palpatatioins happend i ended up stopping it and goign to flovent diskus 250 twice a day. That helped but wasnt like the asmanex.
Avatar f tn Thank you for the info! Just started with the Flovent myself and had a wicked sore throat. Dr. insists side effects will go away tho and not to stop, so I am trying to give it a go! Ive only been on it 3 days and I am not loving it, But I did notice after I brushed this morning any white stuff was gone. (I allways brush my tounge!
Avatar f tn t on any coverage for a while there ($120 per 2 weeks for advair and pulmicort is $137 for 3 1/2 months). You could also move to flovent which is the same steriod as advair but just singly. Welcome and let us know how it goes.
1754037 tn?1327886811 Before getting pregnant with my first son I was on two inhalers albuterol as needed and once a day I took a pulmicort inhaler(steriod). When I found out I was pregnant I did get off the pulmicort but stayed on the albuterol(only needed it once or twice a day). My son came out healthy and is now a healthy 4yr old. I am now 36weeks with my second son and I've had to take my albuterol inhaler anytime I go outside due to fires around where I live.
Avatar f tn The inhalers that I am on are Ventolin and Flovent. Last night, I started coughing a bit. This morning I was wheezing and coughing. Maybe it's the weather changing since it was 64 degrees out today.
Avatar n tn He has been on Omeprazole, ranitidine, reglan, ventalin, flovent, pulmicort, diovol, maalox....etc....AND NOTHING is working. He has been on all kinds of formula, and now on Alimentum.
Avatar m tn I dont recall her having rapid heart rate with this symbicort, but she has had good luck with Flovent for several years.. but it just wasnt cutting it the past year for her, and needed to advance to something else, but for many years it worked pretty good. She initally experience the rapidness but it subsided. Now she is on the symbicort and hates that it is a powdery- like substance, and is still experiencing wheezing.
959034 tn?1253671476 My doctor is letting me choose between flovent and qvar to take with my Symbicort. Which works better? I'm still trying to get off prednisone.
Avatar n tn He has had a rough year, been on and off of oxygen, used pulmicort, singular, xeopenex, albuteral, and way too many oral steroids. The pulmicort is a steroid but has less side effects then the oral steroids because it goes directly to the lungs instead of all the organs. Pulmicort is a preventative and should be used before an asthma attack.
959034 tn?1253671476 Her other alternative was to try 2 things. (1) I am to use the pulmicort 400 ug inhaler in conjunction with the oxeeze inhaler. These are the same two components as in the symbicort. But this way you can get more of the steroid in, however you have to carry two inhalers around now. But a small sacrifice to stay off prednisone. The second option was to try Advair 500, which personally I don't think will work. Talk to your doctor about trying pulmicort 400 with oxeeze.
Avatar f tn Should I use my flovent with a new 5 day rx of pred for asthma? Flare up a result of the flu so dr orderedpred 20mg twice a day for 5 days.
Avatar f tn The second attack caused him to be hospitalized during treatment because he was not responding well to 3 doses of albuterol via nebulizer and had low oxygen sat. (88%). Both of the epsiodes occured during a cold/virus. My Dr. is reccomending a once daily pulmicort treatment for prevention purposes. I am a little hesitant to be giving him this at such a young age and only a short time of displaying these symtoms.
Avatar n tn m really fustrated and confused, he is on Flovent twice a day, flonase twice a day, albuterol as needed and steroids when his croup is bad which is likely 3-4 times a year. I've recently read an article on reflux and how it relates to croup I now am going to see a specialist in that field and hope I can have some anwsers!!! Hospital visits are too common in my home and I want to know WHY!!!! Good Luck and I will let you know how it goes!
Avatar f tn They said start with Xopenex (4-6x a day) and give him Flovent once in the morning and once at night. Do this for about 1-2 days. But doesn't it take weeks for Flovent to kick in? Why would they have me do it like this. How could it help him for only 1-2 days?

Avatar f tn Within days of stopping the flovent again the rash was back, even worse than the first time. I strongly suspect that the flovent (or I should say stopping the flovent) is the cause of the rash and that the use of the flovent supresses it. The pediatrician had not heard of this and subsequently referred us to a dermatologist. I know if will take several weeks to get an appointment with the dermatologist.
Avatar n tn A doctor MAY have prescribed you to take the ventolin before you take the flovent to ensure the flovent reached deep into the lungs but give them a call and double check. In that case - ventolin first to open the lungs and then flovent to reduce inflammation.
Avatar n tn He has been on antibiotics (zithromax equiv), oral steroids (dexamethasone), nebulizers (pulmicort and albuterol), seen an ENT for a laryngoscope, pediatric nerologists. Neurologist says behavioural related to too many sports, but he loves these and is under no pressure as to which sport or when - he chooses. He is now off all drugs - these brought on associated body spasms that have stopped. He repeatedly comes out of tests looking just fine - no bronchitis, asthma, epiglotitis.
