Avatar f tn Two that would not affect your heart rate would be an inhaled steroid, such as Flovent® HFA Inhalation Aerosol (fluticasone propionate) or another medicine taken by mouth Singulair® (montelukast sodium). You should ask your doctor about these. Good luck.
Avatar f tn This are preventive inhalers. The type of drug commonly used in preventer inhalers is a steroid. Steroids work by reducing the inflammation in the airways. When the inflammation has gone, the airways are much less likely to become narrow and cause symptoms such as wheezing. Steroid inhalers are usually taken twice per day. If there is an exacerbation (flare-up) of asthma symptoms, he may be advised to take the preventer inhaler more often.
Avatar m tn Hydrofluoroalkane, or HFA, inhalers use a different form of propellant compared to the older CFC (chlorofluorocarbon) inhalers. CFCs have been found to damage the ozone layer and cause other environmental problems.
Avatar f tn m having sideffect with Flovent and Qvar, is this common after use of inhalers for so long, what can be done if a person become allergic to inhalers, very worred since my asthma is Modered.
Avatar n tn You and he/she will have to resort to other preparations, to include a different inhaled steroid, such as Flovent® HFA Inhalation Aerosol (fluticasone propionate), either alone or in combination with a long-acting bronchodilator, like Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate) or Foradil® Aerolizer™ (formoterol fumarate inhalation powder), such a combination being either Advair® HFA (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Aerosol or Symbicort® (budesonide/formoterol fumarat
Avatar f tn and my med is flovent hfa 250mcg (orange inhaler, 2 puffs twice a day), the other is [apo-salvent cfc free] salbutamol 100mcg (2 puffs/4 hours as needed. up to 4 times a day(.
Avatar n tn my pharmacist says I shouldn't be using flovent but ventolin. When I told my Dr. I was very wheezy in the a.m. and at night.....he increased my flovent to b.i.d. who am I supposed to believe????? Also, why not...
Avatar f tn Advair HFA, alvesco and any HFA inhalers are lactose free. Puli org, symbicort, any disk inhalers or rotatable ones a Have lactose in them. I did have to fight to get my doctor to believe me and switch my inhaler but proved it once I was off for a few months - improved and then did spirometry before and after taking symbicort ... Guess what? My peak flow DROPPED, then they believed me :) You can be allergic to ventolin itself but there are other medication you can try.
Avatar m tn I had taken tylenol twice on top of my normal Flovent HFA and Albuterol HFA inhalers as needed. My whole family was ill, with 3/5 of us in the hospital for dehydration from vomiting so much. Three weeks back I had a Z pack for bacterial laryngitis and took tylenol then too. Those are the only medications I have taken. I do not drink, smoke, or do drugs. In 2009 I had my gallbladder removed due to gallbladder disease. Other than Asthma I have been healthy.
Avatar f tn I am on Plaquenil 400mg Metoprolol Tartrate 50mg BID, Proventil HFA 2puffs every 4 hours, Flovent Diskus 250mcg (started one week ago), Nasonex, Augmentin 875 BID. I have had no problems with my cardio selective Beta Blocker prior to catching this cold. My peak flows are still in the High Yellow Zone and I am maxing out on my rescue inhaler and I haven't been on the Flonase long enough to provide control. But I am not wheezing...just stuck in the yellow zone anywhere from 360-390...
746512 tn?1388807580 s are accurate after that.. and usually rads is asthma.. You can buy Flovent inhalers in generic form which is part of the advair which is all you need. much cheaper.. also just get refills dont buy the cannister each time. Advair takes about 2 weeks to work.. the anti-inflammatory action that is.. and also flovent.. it is not an as needed drug and should be continued . I have heard of docs ordering it for a few weeks and then telling their pts. to stop.. no such do..
Avatar m tn I am taking Flovent, Spiriva and ProAir. Since I've been on the medication I've been Dxed with idiopathic neuropathy, cervical radiculopathy, carpel tunnel. I also have other entrapment symptoms, ulnar ,and I think in my legs as well. Sometimes I get a burst of nerve pain in my arms and legs a few minutes after using the Flovent and it also causes some tendon swelling. I've shown over and over that I have less pain on lower doses of meds.
Avatar m tn Sometimes if you don't properly take the inhalers, they don't work as well, even if you think you are doing it right. Use your inhaler in front of your doctor and ask him to improve your technique. Looking slighly upwards helped me greatly in getting more relief from the blue ventolin HFA inhaler.
Avatar m tn It took me 2 weeks to get any relief from the advair and a couple of months to get the maximum benefit. Make sure you are taking it regularly and as close to 12 hours apart as possible. I notice the inhalers don't work as well if I take it even just a couple of hours late. If the lung tests showed asthma then you probably have it. You might need to take different brands to get better affects. Symbicort is similar to advair and works a lot better for me than advair.
1315759 tn?1274044788 I have the albuterol for both, flovent,& advair. I take the albuterol & flovent inhalers 4 times a day plus the machine.Advair twice. But I still have flair ups & when I do the best thing I have fond for me & my grandson is taking a very hot pot of water of the stove putting it on the floor under us. Then take a towel or blanket cover our head so we can get the stem from the water. I know that's an old thing but it works so well to brake up stuff in between meds.
Avatar f tn First did they give you an inhaler to help bring down inflammation such as flovent. Second try a different HFA inhaler my sister found that the method of distribution is best from Ventilin Our pulomologist said that he has had many patients complain that they do not get the relief they had before the inhalers were switched to HFA and he says Ventilin is the best for this.
920032 tn?1550680156 I don very well with the HFA versions. If you were on a dry powder, you might have been having problems with the milk by products in them keeping your peak flow down. My guess would be that your current phlegm problem is from the inflammation and asthma even though your peak flows are improving. If you aren't working with your dr to reduce your steroid use, you should really see your asthma doctor to make sure that your asthma is not flaring.
Avatar n tn Levosalbutamol Tartrate-50mcg;Absolute alcohol-7.4% v/v suspended in propellant HFA)....i feel problem in breathing 2-3 times a day and i take a dose and taking it for 7-8 years and also have much mucus developed....but "i feel drowsy and headache after taking each dose"..i have to take a light sleep to gain the freshness...what should i do, should i change my inhaler or consult doc.????
Avatar m tn Ventolin is a rescue inhaler, it is used when you have asthmatic episodes. For prevention steroid inhalers are effective. For Prevention Steroid inhalers are used regularly for prevention of attacks. The steroid content is very low in an inhaler and only acts locally. Use will prevent the causative allergens from triggering an attack. Repeated cold with nasal blockage can trigger attacks. Keep the nostrils clear of blockages by using nasal drops.
Avatar n tn 1) yes, the bad air almost certainly induced acute inflammation of your bronchi, commonly called airways, but it is equally certain that this inflammation is completely reversible, although it may require months of therapy with the Symbicort® (budesonide/formoterol fumarate dehydrate) Inhalation Aerosol, Flovent® HFA Inhalation Aerosol (fluticasone propionate), Pulmicort Flexhaler® (budesonide inhalation powder) or similar medicines; 2) No, the treatment would not have had an adverse effect on
Avatar n tn I was just curious, when u were diagnosed with Phneumonia, were you put on any kind of inhaler like ADVAIR ?? The reason im wondering is because alot of times certain inhalers will mess with your tongue such as making it numb and swollen, making it wierd colors, or sometimes even ooze out puss and phlem, A few of the inhalers that will do this unless you rinse your mouth out after every actuation are, Combivent, Flovent, ADVAIR or even some nose sprays that hit the back of your tongue.
757137 tn?1347196453 The powder inhalers tend to dull the taste buds over time. I have learned with any inhaler it is best if you place your tongue under the guard as to get the most effect of the medication and to avoid losing the medication to your tongue.
